I love RENT so much, and I love the original cast...except for Daphne. I just can't take her performance seriously. I understand that the "and she looked gooood" is supposed to be kinda funny, but I just felt like she treated all of her lines, especially here, as if they weren't meant to be serious. Personally, I'm one of the few that finds Rosario Dawson to be a better Mimi.
@GraysonsSon Well, I think Daphne's voice is better than Rosario's, although I do admit that I prefer Rosario's acting in general. Rosario's voice is weaker than Daphne's, so I suppose it's really what you look for to define "better".
When I hear the line, "Thank God this moment is not the last..." I get goosebumps every time. I was always a drama person when in high school and college, but always thought musicals were idiotic....(c'mon...Annie?? Guys and Dolls, ugh!!!), so I always avoided them like the plague. Rent changed my mind about musicals; this was the first CD I never thought I could memorize an entire musical, but this one is something special! Thank you J. Larson for putting out a masterpiece!
When it comes back on broadway, hopefully it does...its going to be bigger than Wicked lol I LOVE IT! So sad I never got to see it in person, it came to my city once but I was to young to understand the story and didn't know what RENT was yet, now this song makes me cry lol
This definately brought back memories. I saw the original cast as well in the summer of 96. It was awe inspiring then. As an musical theater major at the time, I knew this would change the way Broadway was done. It's true. Thank you J.L. for writing this. idinasfavefanzel thanks for posting.
you'd better cheer, people...you just witnessed broadway history...rent is one of these rare things in life that does every imaginable thing to your heart...smashes it into little pieces then puts it back together, warms it and teaches you how to use it to it's full potential...things like that don't come around every day...
Good thing it didn't end like La Boheme (the opera that was the inspiration for Rent). Mimi died and the inspiration for Roger yells MIMI!!!!!! and that's the end.

T_T what a very beauty musical production! It is very rare that you find a musical that tells the truth about the world we live in.
The music, the costumes, the lighting, the set
PURE BEAUTY!

It's so heartbreaking the Jonathon Larson never got to see the phenomenon that became of RENT.

@idinasfavefanzel I think I'm officially jealous of your day... Is it also odd that my favourite musical is older than me?
