@rippmd2010 It's just a different engine layout...i'm putting together a mopar big block right now that has 5 mains. It's not even a 440 or hemi either, its a 400, same family as the 383, they're both "B" motors.
@RegulatorRacing I prefer Ford trucks over dodge and chevy to be honest, however I will say that mopar was WAY out ahead of everyone else until like, the mid 70's. They were using electronic ignition when ford and chevy were still using mechanical, they were using more efficient valvetrains, their big blocks had 5 bolt mains, their suspensions were front torsion beams with rear leaf springs instead of front and rear coils...I worked on chevys my whole life but like Ford more and old mopars best

I have a 78 dodge Ramcharger 260,000 km on it and starts better than my dads 04 p71 intercepter or my moms 98 4runner and takes less oil, how long a vehicle lasts has a lot to so with how it was treated for the first 15,000km so if you treat your truck like shit during the break in period it won't last long.

That 350 is pretty hopped up. If any of you know ANYTHING about motors/gear ratios/compression ratios, you would know that the Dodge had no chance. 10.8 to 1?? Thats crazy.
@moparman95 Agree'd. That's alot of compression! With that much compression, gear ratio ect, I would have gone with a slightly more radical cam, 650 cfm carb with mech secondaries and a 3000 rpm stall convertor to get the rpm's up into the power band quicker, but that's just me.

Lets see 350 v. 5.7 litre - well, they are both the same size. Presumably the engine in the '72 is older and has done more mileage than the Dodge, so it will be a little bit looser, ie. the Dodge is most likely a bit tighter, being newer. Weight wise they are probably comparable. So really it is not a surprise that they are reasonably close, which they are in your video - I would hardly call that a thrashing, half a length.

My old times are from CarLife for the 440..street tires were spinning,going sideways and even spinning with 8" slicks they pulled low 12's.these were stock new cars,I even raced these beasts when new.

Its a Small Block Dodge Hemi ! Smaller cid than a Chevy, Dodge is 345 ci vs 350 !

@Molari well the chevy was a 4x4 with way bigger tires so its bound to be alot heavier with that extra front axel. if chevy was allowed to make the heads that dodge has the patent on chevy would have everything. basically a hemi is a chevy motor with special heads that no1 else are allowed to produce.

LOL take a look at that chevy, its a lifted 4x4, and the dodge is 2WD. Thats a huge difference. Not to mention that there is a huge technology gap between a 350 small block and the newer 5.7 hemi's. But it doesnt matter here, because the chevy won anyways

Chevy has always been better, Dodge isnt that good. They have alot of power but they arent dependable and long lasting. Theyre rated pretty low.

@getalife04 That Chevy probly weighs 500-600 more pounds than that Dodge, plus it has way bigger tires, thats pretty good for a big 72. I just had to get my 02 Dodge worked on today, it messes up alot, my friends Dodges do too. Big mistake getting them lol but if you dont like Chevy its your loss

Much less something to really brag about lol. Chevy, ford, or dodge doesn't matter to me I drive a 454whp Subaru WRX lol. So as you can see I am not biased I just made the comment that this was NOT a thrashing. Had the race gone much longer the dodge most certainly would have won with the tires on that chevy.

@SteveFrench306 I had a 1986 Chev 2500 with 338 thousand miles org engine the tranny was replaced twice. I was my first car i got it with 110k on it. I finally got rid of it last year because i had to move and could only take 2 cars. Chevy is the BEST! I bet a 2011 Chevy wont last 338k They just dont make them like the use to. I got a 72 Cheyenne 4x4 and a 06 Duramax 4x4. Chevy til the day i die!

That 350 is pretty hopped up. If any of you know ANYTHING about motors/gear ratios/compression ratios, you would know that the Dodge had no chance. 10.8 to 1?? Thats crazy.

@moparman95 Agree'd. That's alot of compression! With that much compression, gear ratio ect, I would have gone with a slightly more radical cam, 650 cfm carb with mech secondaries and a 3000 rpm stall convertor to get the rpm's up into the power band quicker, but that's just me.

Lets see 350 v. 5.7 litre - well, they are both the same size. Presumably the engine in the '72 is older and has done more mileage than the Dodge, so it will be a little bit looser, ie. the Dodge is most likely a bit tighter, being newer. Weight wise they are probably comparable. So really it is not a surprise that they are reasonably close, which they are in your video - I would hardly call that a thrashing, half a length.
