  • NICE INTRO.

  • NICE!!!

  • @dwkcamman611 Thank you, it was a really neat catch

  • Where do the trains go. On google maps the rail in maumee is abandoned near grand rapids ohio

  • @CSXandSpartanfan33 Norfolk Southern uses the track to the Johnsmansville plant in Waterville, Ohio. From Waterville to Grand Rapids, Ohio the track is owned by the Toledo Lake Erie & Western Railway (TLE&W) It's a toursit railroad. I work ith the TLE&W are tracks are not abandon

  • Didnt some of the trackage around Maumee get changed around with the new US 24 bypass??

  • @TheZeke1974 No, highways are usually built around the railroads. The did build a new tunnel-like overpass over the NS tracks near Waterville, Ohio

  • Nice video, even that crossing, gate are activated within few feet from the crossing,

    did they use Hi-nose everytime?

  • @MontrealtrainChannel The reason it took so long for the gates to activate is due to the fact that they were coming off of an insulated spur track. The crews will sti & wait until the gates are down but, they normally activate in plenty of time on the main track. Highoods are used frequently around Maumee, Ohio. Though they will use low-noses & Wide cabs Highoods are the main power

  • This is STILL such a good catch....

  • @Seaboard1321 No kidding

  • Whimpy freight train

  • @jmream1 What does that mean?

  • I remember running the some of the ex N&W & ex Sou units and I can safely say give me a Leslie over a nathan any day!

  • @jerrybutler817 I love Lesile horns but, classic Nathens like old K5's and M5's are really good sounding too

  • @jerrybutler817 I agree and that is coming from someone outside of the railroad industry!

  • @gray19801 Nathen has some great horns too.

  • @metraF40PH163 That they do particularly the OC P3 and P5. Currently own a Leslie S5T and NC P5

  • @gray19801 We use a Nathen First Gen K5LA & A M5 on our locomotives

  • Horns are not just horns...they're a sense of personality and identity to the engines...RS-3L's and RS-5T's are the only way to go for me. Nathans sound like pure garbage.

  • @sergio9603 Yes, horns are very neat. Our engines have Nathens on them and they are not garbage. We have a first generatrion K5LA & a M5. Thoss are by no means garbage

  • Thanks for this video!

  • @TheRailTube Yup, thanks for watching

  • I dont care what some may say about this video but it is just fantastic! And a beautiful RS5T!

  • @izzwardo Hey, thanks! I am glad you liked it, if only they would have blown the crossing sequences right!

  • why is this rare? NS uses jeeps to do switchin all the time. I actualy ran 4123. 4124 was my daily driver for a while. I ran it hooked up to 2867. 4124 was eventualy put in the bone yard then I got 5017.

  • @lotanota Well, first of all its a GP38AC not a GP38. From what I know, there are not to many AC geeps running around. The horn is also a rare RS5T which are very hard to find on class 1's. I know NS uses GP's to switch with usually just GP38's, not AC's

  • @metraF40PH163 I guess for a novelist/historian, it would be the most exciting thing you have ever seen. To each is their own I guess. I dont really know how many there are, dont really care. I can tell u the professional POV. A horn is a horn and there is no diff between a GP38, GP38ac,GP38-2,GP40,GP15,etc,etc,etc. Make a profession outa it and the novelty goes byebye really quick.

  • @lotanota I know some people like you could care less about stuff like horns and the rareity of locomotives but, people like me do. I've been with a tourist RR for 4 years, and I have to say, it does not get old. A horn is a horn yes, but, some sound different then others which adds to variety. There are major differences between GP38's and the GP38AC but, operating them is probably the same. I know many employees with the railroads who love rare horns & equipment, in short we all have opinions

  • And I thought that southern was the one who used high hoods and NW something else. Come to think of it, the Southern high hoods are a little longer than NWs.

  • And I thought that southern was the one who used high hoods and NW something else.

  • @benschlechter Yup, bot N&W & southern used them. They are the same length though

  • Is that a Former NW Trains

  • @00000872 Yup

  • Classic power with a great RS5TF

  • @gray19801 Thanks, that horn was epic!

  • RS5T!

  • @Railfan19960 Yup

  • Your welcome

  • nice catch, i wish i got a high hood instead of that mac lol

  • @CPWindsorsub Thanks! Highoods are really cool to see!

  • Great video! I like the high-hoods too.

  • @trekky60 Thanks!

  • Cool video, I have always liked High Hoods!

  • @Hobbydude1000 Me too. Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • @Hobbydude1000 It alreday is detailed like one. It has non-operating ditch lights.

  • @metraF40PH163 Yea, watched a video of it! It is pretty detailed I like it. Do you plan on putting a Decoder in it?

  • @Hobbydude1000 Yup, I also plan on maybe saving up for a sound decoder and working ditch lights.

  • @metraF40PH163 That would be very cool!

  • Wow, those are cool engines, that guy was a fool

  • @peterandben Thanks! Yes he was

  • Neat catch, Evan!

  • @SOU5111 Thanks! Good old classic EMD's

  • I use to be at control panel of the EMD GP7 and GP9 that were high nose, this is the first time I've seen a high nose GP38. Great video :-)

  • @MrCraig1930 Thanks! Highoods are neat

  • Nice catch! I hope the few remaining that are stored can also be put back into service.

I don't think it was a very close call with that guy who crossed the tracks but the guy shouldn't have been flying like that. But since the bars weren't down and that the crew was going no more than 5mph it wasn't extremely close. The bottom line is that NS needs to look into this crossing in my opinion.

  • @Sabres21Buffalo Thanks! I know the train was planning on stopping but, the reason I say it was close was due to the fact that the train was almost on the road and the lights were activated. The reason it took so long for the crossing to activate was beacuse the train just came off of an insulatd spur. NS also stores engines on that track so, re-doing the crossing circuit would make more problems. Usually like in this case the crew simply just stops and waits for the gates to lower.

  • @metraF40PH163 Ah ok.

  • Nice but that driver was a jackass my dad has hit cars before and everytime i see a car almost get hit by a train it gives me chills and i yell jackass to the people in the car

  • @Conrailfan2323 I know he saw it coming and sped up. I would have yelled at him but, I think the horn took care of that!

  • Dude Evan this catch is amazing!!! Two of only six active GP38AC's on NS's roster. Amazing RS5T on there too!! This is truley one awesome catch!!!

  • @Seaboard1321 Thanks! it's too bad they only have 6.

  • Nice catches! Nice horn, whenever I think of NS highhoods I always expect to hear a P5.

  • @rufec12 I know but, this was an ex-N&W unit. The ex-Southern ones have P5's and P3's

  • Cool!

  • @ohiofoamer7612 Thanks Bryce

  • Nice horn! RS3????????????

  • @trainmandan05 No, RS5T

  • Gotcha, I couldn't tell because of your camera audio being a little fuzzy. I kinda thought that it was an RS5T.

  • @trainmandan05 Oh, you might have viewd it when it was not fully processed. Thanks
