They never actually explained why he went to see her. It was right after Christian "attacked" John for being with Talia behind Antonio's back. John, Antonio, and Talia were staging this fake affair so that Lee Ramsey who was the acting commissioner would think that Antonio hated John and would help Lee take John down. They were setting Lee up.
They kind of gave the impression that John just wanted to talk to someone because the ruse was taking his toll on him with all of Llanview thinking he was such a scumbag. What happened was Susan Haskell resigned and all of a sudden John and Blair started to have sex. I guess to up the drama of Marty coming back.
I truly believe if Susan hadn't decided to come back to the show John and Natalie would have reunited, but her coming back put it on hold. Here's hoping we finally get what we have been hoping for!
It is so ridiculous how happy it made me to see Jolie back together. It's so bittersweet cause I love these scenes but it makes me miss them so much more!
