  • Love the "AAHH" at 2:22,,,sex to the ears. :))

  • Love the Spitfire... Mitchell design looks as good as it flies.

  • PLSE DONT CRASH THAT SPIT... theres not many left >_<

    Cool vid, ta

  • can i use this video?

  • what do you want to use it for?

  • nothing, i don´t need it anymore =)

  • They updated the cylinders on these to compensate for corrosion, right?

  • the noise that struck fear into every pilot in the luftwaffe!!!!

  • we had 20 spits in 1953 and the CO used to take one up every saturday for a spin at RAF Cosford

  • i wish that commentator would keep quite

    they allways spoil it.

  • what a sound! it strangely makes me wish I lived through the 30's and 40's planes like this wouldnt been commonplace its a shame there are so few around now though :)

  • thats really strange, cause the honour to hear Merlins comes with the price to hear DB 601 and DB 605 engines...not to forget the f..ing buzz-bombs or doodle bugs....I love the sound of these old piston engines as well but I prefer to hear them on airshows ;o) Have You seen an EF 2000 Typhoon performing?...wow I love to live nowadays....

  • that is true yes, i suppose in a way it is more special to see and hear them at airshows because they are so rare and special you know? :) I have managed to see The Typhoon performing yes, wow what a noise that makes! I think the only modern Aircraft that I think has a more powerful sound has to be the Vulcan (even though the Vulcan is a 50's 60's design) :), have you managed to see a Vulcan in the past? :)

  • unfortunatly not...I saw a B1 Bone ( B-one) and a B 58 Hustler in Arizona (Monthan AFB) that was a real nice experience. Now the Vulcan flies again...maybe I´ll see her flying in the future...my favorite V-bomber is the Victor...shes real beauty...dont get me wrong...I liked the Spitfire, the Mustang, the Lightning on all the shows I saw..my uncle allmost peed himself as he saw lately the P38 Lightning in the pattern of our local airfield...he had different experiences about that bird....

  • ah i envy you! are there many B-58's around still? Yes try and see the Vulcan if you can, I belive theres only 1 or 2 flying stil. I know of one that flies in England, The Victor yes thats a nice Aircraft! ah P-38 you cant go wrong with that one! :)

  • What a beautiful sound !... Mozartian !...

  • Oddly enough, I've found that the soaring Main Title Music from the Spider-Man movie soundtrack goes rather well with this video.

  • I suppose 'not mentioning the war' is out of the question at this point?

  • And now You dont hate us, modern germans.

You dont have a feeling either way about the germans, one minute earlier Your hate was evident...keep to Your opinion...do You hate us, or do You have no feelings about us, and hate would be a very strong feeling, in my knowledge its the opposite of love. Make Your point...

I like the british I met, they all were very kind to me and handled me as a friend, are they just acting, I will show them Your comments and then we will see...

  • I like your point about lack of support from other European countries, it suggests it was our fault that the germans allowed a Democratic country to become a Nazi dictatorship. Maybe if you had not invaded us it would have been different. I knew one of my grandfathers, he was a tail gunner on Lancasters, he never went to Germany, but flew over it on many occasions, Berlin, Nurenberg, Frankfert, Hamberg. May god rest his soul.

  • The Weimar republic wasnt a strong democratic for christ sake. Hitler with his tools used that weakness and the surpressed folks to destroy democracy. Again this is a result of Versailles as well. And I blame one british of dealing with the Nazis. Mr. Chamberlain betrayed the Czechs and many others cause he believed in the talkings with stupid asshole Hitler and Ribbentrop. He believed Hitler so did the folks who felt he would lead the germans out of surpression. Weimar republic.give me a brake

  • You blame the British for dealing with the Nazis but who else could we deal with?

they were your government of the time.

your right we did sell out the Czechs (disgraceful) but if we had gone to war in 38,it would have been over in six months and we would have lost rather than being able to hold you off until the Americans were to get involved. We knew it was coming by 38 we did the right thing for the UK, by buying ourselves a year to build the land army and produce armerments. Awful but true

  • I dont have to add anything to Your statement about my Chamberlain post. You are right with all of it, they dealed with the devil and they knew it, sad but true

  • And how much You know about Germany shows how You spell the towns. I know You dont care about the right spelling, and so it seems You dont care about the right history. You just like the idea, that all germans have a gene-defect and needed to be erased. Sound pretty familiar, I know history. I do honour Your grandfather, not You, that he fought down Nazi Germany, but Your attitute make all his and his fellows actions useless, cause You think germans needed to be killed and not freed from Nazis

  • I never said at any stage that the Germans have a Gene-defect, Your posts seem to suggest that you feel sorry for yourself over what your nation did to the rest of us. O.k you have had a hard time since, but in honesty I feel you deserve it. You keep blaming everything on the treaty of Versailles, but if you were not in France/Belgium in 1914, then there would have been no Versailles. just keep excusing Germany for the Nazis, I still don't think you wold have any regrets if you had won.

  • So all Your hate against my people is due to an assumption? We do have still very few Nazis here in Germany, if all the people in other countries would think like You even the normal and good thinking people would turn away from the right way, what is democracy, freedom and peace. So all the people who believe in democracy in Germany today do deserve that the world can spit on them? cause of the cruelties during WW2? Thats Versailles again, and Yes Versailles was the best thing for the Nazis

  • My hate for you is not about assumption it is about historical fact, your nation invaded most of Europe twice, and it led to the deaths of nearly 80 million people, you laid waste to large areas of our industrial cities, killing thousands, you produced industrial methords to wipe out millions of an individual race, of course I hate you, there are no reasons you can provide me with that can justify the actions of the German nation in the first half of the last century.

  • As for mordern Germans I don't hate them, I have no feelings for them either way, historically speaking, 60 years is a wink of an eye, They say that time heals many wounds, but the wounds opened by yor nation will take centurys to heal not decades.

  • they will take milleniums and twice as much, and I dont want to forget something, I dont want to deny something, I dont care about time to heal wounds. I am just against the fashists outside Germany. The louder they accuse Germany the more they try to hide from their own history.Look at the german landmark, how often was the german lands burned by others, the germans united themselves after Austerlitz, the big victory of the great friend of the british, Napoleon Bonaparte. He unified the germans

  • Why cant we all just enjoy the sights and sounds of these old warbirds with out desending into an arguement about the war, I am with you on this one we have moved on since those dark days, most German's as British were just doing their "bit" for their countries, I have no hatred for Germans, I look at WW2 as a war aginst Nazis, most of whom were German, we had Nazis here also, Oswald mosley, the father of Max Mosley (Formula 1) was the most infamous.

  • I havent started it...there was a statement were someone couldnt avoid the comparision with an Audi slogan...it was something like: the Spitfire is the reason why the world dont need to drive cars made by "progress through technology" but what am I saying go back some comments and You will find the reason for my reaction. As You can see in my profile I am fan of the Merlin and the Spitfire...but I cant keep my mouth shut when Germany is always reduced to WW2 and all its cruelties and atrocities

  • I am on your side on this matter, I dont like comments which are anti German, we can talk about events that happend in the war but it seems some people always want to bring up the darker side of the conflict, I dont blame you for getting annoyed when your country is put down in the way I have seen in some comments, that is why I posted my comment to you, to show my anger at these sad people. I too love the Spitfire, I may be a bit biased but I think it is a very looking plane.

  • Its okay to be biased I think, cause everybody who says he/shes not is lying. I am biased in many cases cause I have a certain attitute which is not always correct but I am free for new thinkings and am able to change my attitute if I learn something new. For me the Spitfire is one of the greatest designs as well, but that doesnt mean I forget the Mustang, The FW 190 or the Heinkel He 100 which would have had more potential than the 109 I think...anyhow thx for Your comments..Take care fellow

  • to all the people who like the video of that great bird, I apologize honoustly for the off-topic statements I did. I like the Spitfire, I just answered to one reply which had nothing to do with the plane.

  • British engines.

Built so that future generations will never have to say.

    "Vorsprung durch tecnik"

  • why are You comparing a federal german company again with the f*** Nazi regime. Cant You honour these wonderful birds without insulting the germans of the present time?

Is it so hard for You, to accept that Germany isnt ruled by a insane dictatorship anymore?

The war was inevitable for Germany at these days, the genocide was the great and terrible insanity which is a fact a deeply regret, but the war was the result of Versailles 1919. It never can be a good idea to isolate a country

  • May I ask a question? would todays Germans hold such deep regret if they had won?

Secondly many of your Federal companys were deeply involved and also made a great profit from the war.

Junkers, today make heating equipment, then made bombers, Bosch made guidance systems for the V2, Mercedes-benz were very happy for Hitler to ride around in their bomb proof car, Volkswagen, what Brits call the beetle desgned by Hitler himself,Krupps had a hand in most of your wartime manufacture.

    All guilty.

  • My belief is that the Germans are full of regret, they regret that they lost, they regret that they didn't kill more Jews, the regret that they did'nt make enough offensive weapons because they felt the war was over in 41. They regret that they didn't supply the troops on the Eastern front with winter clothing so they could finish the job in Russia. As for 1919, they may regret that they started that one in 1914 by giving Austria-Hungry a free hand in the Balkans.

F..k Germany both then and now

  • So I am talking to a racist here, okay You are proove that this sad phenomena is widely spread. The germans dont regret loosing the war, they regret the f***ing war with all its insanities. Junkers was expropriated because he refused to build bombers, thats just one name You mentioned. Yes the germans and the industry did support the war, but it was a result of politics and not cause of a gene-defect many racists do attach to the german being. Germans idiot was the nephew of the british king

  • I am talking about emperor Willhelm the second. War was due to families, not cause of the folks. And You are pointing finger to the nation again, nothing learned from history andd all its flaws I would say. And I dont accuse the today british for any slaughtering in the british history. I dont want to lecture You, cause I found out, that its hard to talk to fashists. You have Your opinion, which would fit in the rows of the Nazis. But I guess You like british soccer and therefore hate Germany.

  • You can call me a racist if it makes it easy to shift your guilt, but the truth is that YOUR nation caused the deaths of over 80million people over two wars. We British have done some very shitty things over the years, but we never rounded up six million jews and gassed them. I am only racist about one nation and that is the Germans, you wanted a Germanic Europe at all costs, and ended up having your nation raped by the Russians. As Bomber harris said about Dresden "you reap what you sew"

  • No I am not calling You a racist when You accuse the germnans of being guilty of the WW2, leave the WW1 out of it if Your knowledge is limited to the austria-hungary federation.

I know abot the holocaust and I am not proud of it. The Nazis wanted not only a german europe, they even wanted a german world in their crippled minds. And quoting speeches from the NSDAP partys at Nürnberg does not mirror the attitute of all germans. I am glad I know some british, therefore I know that You are none

  • The majority of Germans supported the war when it was going their way, you gassed six million and nobody knew it was going on? Really?

Why was there not a peoples uprising in Germany putting an end to the war,You were a nation of 70million, and your army was fighting abroad, the truth is that you fought on till the bitter end, even the old veterans of the Volkstrum fought on until you were over run, you did it because you believed in it and you wanted it, thats why all Germans are guilty.

  • Your knowledge of history is very one-sided, but I dont blame You...if You dont have the wish to know more about the germans I am sure You will stick to Your fashistic opinion. The uprising, always the uprising. Germany was at war, the men were at frontlines all over the world, the people left behind were women, kids and eldery, the oppostion of the NSDAP in the concentration camps. And the women with their kids should have done an uprising, yes. Your opinion about the Volkssturm is wrong

  • The elderly and woman and children?

You had a population of nearly 70 million, that would mean that you had an army of almost twenty million men, It was five million at its peak, leaving 15 million, why didn't they put a stop to it, because they supported it, having a good life off the backs of other Europeans, busy building weapons for Krupps no dought. There were enough Germans to put it to an end they just didn't want to. Ask your Grandfather, I have mine.

  • I could not ask my grandfathers cause they died when I was a child. What I know is that my fathers uncle was killed by the SS, and his wife was killed earlier by the order of the Gauleiter (regional NSDAP head). Due to the politics done by Europeans against Germany after WW1 no German believed in support for them by other countries. So the only way they saw, was the propagaded one, the Nazi-way. And You calculation is wrong at all points, unless You say that 12 to 17 year old boys are men.

  • I love the spit' it has to be the most beautiful ww2 aircraft ever built the later models with the rolls royce griffon engines were probably jut about as fast as any prop driven aircraft could get,a classic !.

  • I love the mk9, did'nt this paticular aircraft fly with 222 squadron? I can't wait to see one again, far more interesting than th american F15,F16,F14,F18,F22,F35 next generation fighter stuff, they are a boring especially the f14.

  • love that plane

  • OMG such a nice noise!!!

  • Spitfire!!! Beautiful!!
