  • Thanks. Based on this vid I ordered 2 of these, and 3 of the large rain flys for a semi permanent jungle camp. With discounts, it cost no more to ship 2 hammocks or tarps than it does just one. And he gives you a discount on 2 or more hammock as wells, so I could say that the second hammock cost only $110.00 with fly. Given customer comments on the site are numerous and positive as well as constructive, and that they have reported seen service in a military, speaks to it's good durability.

  • Thanks for the review. Glad to get your report on this hammock. I've order the Jungle Hammock which is said to be larger than the Expedition model. You sound like you are at least average in size and if this one is comfortable, I should be okay. Having little experience, not knowing if I can sleep on my back, I do hope that I can at least sleep on my side or belly in this one.. I order the extra large rain fly as a back up and perhaps it is larger than the diamond tarp.

  • I have been wanting to get into hammock camping and finally bought this exact setup. I have not used it yet but went camping with my friend who bought the Jacks R Better - Bear Mtn Bridge..I tried it..WOW...I sure hope my hammock is this comfortable...If not, will be buying a Bear Mtn Bridge...

  • @flytuc1 so many hammocks..so little time...:) Everyone has a choice to make.. can't buy them all.. The claytor is a solid product..

  • Wenzel Santa Fe 20-Degree Sleeping Bag, Link in Video Description.

  • Kinda large for Backpacking..would suggest the Suisse Sport Ultra-Compactable Sleeping Bag rated at 30F for that...

  • why do you prefer this hammock over Hennessy / blackbird? From what I've heard the Claytor is more narrow at the shoulders. What type of sleeping bag is that your've got?

  • @john22112 The main reason, personal choice on ventilation. HH and BB just don't have the flow of air passing thru the hammocks when the wind stops and the heat builds in my opinion. I also did not like the bottom entrance on the HH due to calf pressure..and the BB I tried was the 1.7 which has way to much material for someone my size and built up on the sides. Again, making ventilation limited. I find little pressure in the claytor with plenty of room. it's 4 foot wide.

  • I'm thinking about hiking the AT next year and I'm going to be doing research on hammocks... this is a timely review
