  • Is there meal service?

  • QI brought me here

  • The only flight probably where the seat belt sign is always ON

  • Do they have a toilet on that plane?:D

  • @LucyEmma21 I gusess NOT

  • You would be gutted if you need a pee just before takeoff, having to wait all that time. The other benefit is for pre-mature ejaculators who will be able to successfully join the mile high club and still finish in time for the in-flight meal :-).

  • how many frequent flyer miles do I get?

  • Stephen Fry brought me here...

  • @MoogleSan Me Too!

  • beats ryanair

  • fuck the jetlag!

  • I bet that Pilot has only Logged 10 minutes in flight time

  • Is that an Islander or Tri-islander? Also, has Easyjet or Ryanair decided to fly that route yet? Ha ha ;)

  • Is that an Islander or Tri-islander

  • 4 bars for an Islander captain!

  • this is hilariously short, in 1 youtube video covers the whole flight haha!

  • pilot: gear up......ok gear down.

  • @maseraticrg its flown by a BN-2 which has fixed landing gear :-P

  • @teabag1231 sorry dude.haha

  • yea..cool...[okey ready for Take Off..V1..rotate..V.......V??...ohh touchdown

  • how much did it cost to fly?

  • how many people would be living on those pea sized islands???

  • which movie are they showing during flight?

  • At least the pilot still has his uniform on.

  • "Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your seatbelts as we are preparing for take off..." (30 secs later) "We have reached cruising altitude, you can now remove your seatbelts, I will start throwing oreos..." (30 secs later) "Ladies and gentlemen we are now preparing for landing, please fasten your seatbelts once again..."

  • you pay £7 per minute on this flight... that´s more than on the concorde

  • who pay for this ?

  • wats the point of this flight unless the people cant afford a helicopter or a boat or maybe the seas are rough.

  • @dipu94321 This flight is just one leg of a journey that takes a circular route around the Orkney Islands, then repeats it in the opposite direction. It joins all the islands (with airstrips) to Kirkwall just so happens that two of them are only a mile or so apart.

And yes, the sea in this area is often extremely rough as well as tidal flows faster than many boats.

  • @dipu94321 If you had half a brain cell, you would have noticed this flight is between islands. And air travel is a lifeline for islanders, and you can't take a boat because the sea currents are so bad aroubd there that you might wash up in Fiji.

  • brain is not composed of cells, the yare composed of grey and white matter.

  • @dipu94321

lol... your brain might really not have any cells!!!

  • cause they are not supposed to.that proves your level of intelligence.brain is just an oversized neuron.

  • @dipu94321

pardon!?^^ thx, you just kinda proved my and HotChilliSquirrel´s point...

    cheers, over and out.

  • is that a bn-2 islander?

  • The take-off is longer than the flight!

  • hahahaha

  • nice crosswind landing!

  • it takes me longer to pee

  • What movie is scheduled for the flight?

  • @Orkneyinga How did you book that flight?

  • It was a school run whilst the ferry was in dry dock. Lulz

  • I've taken shits longer than this flight! XD

  • Ferry?

  • @Elvarks They have one but it goes to the south of Westray

  • Hey, if nothing else, this is one route where you're guaranteed to not get on board, taxi, then park and wait out a ground stop due to the weather at the destination.

  • i would be very tired and jet lagged after this flight!

  • This flight probably costs about 8 US Dollars, 10 if you would like an oreo and a canned soda for the flight. could you imagine being a pilot flying this route trying to log 1000 hours for your full commercial pilots liscence -.-

  • That's really weird and funny at the same time.

Now, if someone could upload a video of the longest scheduled flight (New York - Singapore, 18hrs 40mins) I'd be *really* happy!

  • didnt see no duty free trolley either,

  • I just hope they serve meals on that flight !

  • Sehr schön!

  • I feel like i was right there with them.

  • I'm waiting for someone to winge about the "carbon footprint" this will have :L

  • @03crichardson This flight should be cancelled and replaced with Bicycles and an ethnic peace bicycle for horizontally-challenged individuals :L haha

  • @03crichardson A single flight produces approximately 0.1 tonnes (224 lb) of CO₂ which would cost around £1.15 ($1.74) to offset

  • haha, lmao.

  • Does it still take an hour and a half for baggage reclaim and do you still have to arrive at check-in three hours before take-off? :-)

  • looks like a pretty small plane. i think he can just go around the back and take the luggage haha

  • @herseem HAHAHAHA!

  • @herseem And the $500 Plane ticket

  • lol yh.... ive always imagined someone putting that

  • Nice day for it

  • Its a BN Islander carries 8 pax. Pilot is captain, first officer and cabin crew.

  • Comment removed

  • Starting the engines will take 2 mins so they will take longer than the flight

  • how much does it cost?

  • looks like a twin otter?

  • The preflight checks for the aircraft probably take longer than the flight.

  • couldnt you just swim it :)

  • lol a flight of 2 minutes ! 0.0

  • I could not believe the whole thing just ended longer than I needed to load the video! Lol

  • They must need an Airbus

  • @ Universal1Cadete, LMFAO!!

  • Good one. Thanks for posting.

  • More faster then got a boat..

  • what is the price of the flight ? :)

  • meh 2min?

so what's this flight good for?

    take a boat instead

  • What is it's too bad a day?

  • Hahahah awesome, very different compare with flight from Tokyo - rome. ( 13,5 bloody hours )

  • Did anybody say touch an go, lol...

  • This is the long-haul version of the flight as the pilot has to fly around the airport. Watch the vid with the alternative route starting and landing on the opposite ends of the runway! It's even shorter.

  • welcome to logan airlines flight 159 service to Papa, we will arrive about the time your hot poket is finished in the microwaves!

  • these takes pilots to gain more flying hours...not very recommended for flight training

  • Why don't they take a boat?

  • i wonder how much that flight costs.

  • cabin crew please get ready for take off. 20 seconds later. cabin crew please get ready for landing.

  • lol

  • lmfao yeah

  • a nervous first time flyer wouldnt even have time to think of irrational bad thingys...

  • Looks like a BN2, great aircraft.

  • it's actually a DHC-6 Twin Otter, it's STOL (short take-off landing) capablilities are used on these short runways (>1000ft!)

  • No, it's definately a BN-2B-26, G-BLNJ to be specific. Even without the video I'd recognise the sound of the twin Lycoming engines! A plane spotter? No, let's just say decades of family involvement in this service...

  • its a BN 2 you can tell from the engine noise and cockpit

  • The throttles on an Twin Otter are on the ceiling. this is a BN

  • Sorry for the comment, it is an error.

Great video btw, and this is amazingly short !

  • scheduled

  • Nice. My Great Grandfather had a farm on South Ronaldsay Island in Widewall. We visited there once. Took the ferry from John O Groats to Stromness. Very nice place, Orkney. I would like to play some midnight golf just once....

  • Damn there is no even sandwiches :(

  • fpsd0minat0r,

    how are people being greedy?

I doubt flying an Islander for 2 minutes is going to starve the world of fuel.

Also, people who need to go between the two islands have no other way except plane or boat, but a plane is needed when the weather is too bad for a ferry to cross. People need to live, food etc gets transported on the plane, so I've heard, so do you judge people food just to save a drip of fuel?

  • Yay

  • whats the point.... one day people wont even have fuel for their cars let alone a plane.

stop being so greedy and taking it for granted.

  • Sometimes that's about all I can take. Ever get on a 12 hour plus flight?

  • Been on a 14 hour flight, from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. I was SICK

  • Is there a trolley bar service?

  • i have been on that flight it was very short LOL and they don't serve peanuts

  • Feels like a bus ride.

  • oops "poor"

  • Por pilot must take forever to complete his flgith plan!!!!

  • how much did that fligh cost?

  • Approx £14

  • what is that converted to U.S. dollars

  • approx $25US and it is subsidised by local govt

  • thanks

  • Do they serve peanuts on the flight,LOL.

Nice clip and I am sure a wonderful trip.

  • thats good one :)

  • every heard of a ferry village boy ??

  • hahahaha i love it!

  • Trolley-dolly service is a bit slow isn't it?

  • Why put a plane in the air for 2 minutes?

  • i've flown many times on the Islander and it's the only plane I'd ever trust. just listen to that twin thrum at 55 seconds, and see the way the pilot can control everything so (apparently) effortlessly. i was on the plane from Stronsay in 1995 when one of the engines failed just after take off and the wee plane got a full load of weel fed folk safely back to Kirkwall. Respect Davie Miller.

  • This flight was completed in 58 seconds once...amazing.

  • I luv loganair, they are probably the most unique british airline, they are owned by BA=funding and they operate Twin Otters from a beach daily (only one in the world) , do the shortest flight in Islanders, and also Link all the main cities of scotland together fairly impressive

  • i live here on westray, (the neighbouring island to papay) and it is absolutely POINTLESS getting a bridge when u can quite easily take a boat journey, or plaine crossing that takes all of 5 minutes!

  • How much does this cost?

  • oh, and whats th point in spending thousands on a bridge, when you can take a short plaine crossing. there is already a ferry btw

    KNOW the facts first

  • hows that retarded? who wants to spend half an hour feeling sick on a ferry. when you can do it in 2 minuits with a plaine!

  • He must have the record for the number logged takeoffs/landings per flight hour!

  • nice scenery in scotland

  • this is Orkney, peedie breeks, not Scotland

  • it belongs to scotland m8,get yur facts right lol

  • Orkney (not 'it') is in Scotland, but doesn't 'belong' to the mainland. I know my facts, peedie man, because I live here in Orkney, not middle England. Just like Staffordshire is different to, say, the Isle of Man; Orkney & Shetland are different to Scotland, the Mainland. That's what I meant.

  • You've got to be kidding me?

    Orkney is Scotland, idiot/

  • No; I presume you are a Scot? Then you should understand that Orkney is in Scotland but we are known as Orcadians, not simply 'Scottish'. Is history not taught on the Mainland anymore?

  • yeah and your at twat

  • even better, build a bridge between the two islands. Or a tunnel. Put a $50 toll to make up for airplane. You'll still earn about the same or maybe more.

  • we don't use dollars - and nobody would pay £50 anyway, we're not fools. WE'VE GOT A FERRY - and a 'plane as well

  • there aren't enough people living on the two islands to justify the huge expense of a bridge and if there were - no one would pay $50 (£25) when the flight between the two currently costs about half that

  • Sounds like a Rockwell Commander

  • thats just wrong, i hope he don't log those flights

  • Yeah, seriously, someone buy these people a boat

  • maybe a ferry wouldent work because of the rough seas?

  • we've got one; and a plane; and tv's, telephones, fitted carpets, tinned food - we're not Brigadoon, you know - just normal people who happen to live on an island! but fyi - the flight is brilliant in rough weather!!

  • I'm looking for a house on Orkney. My word it's beautiful up there, hard but stunning.

  • decent houses are like hens teeth up here; five numbers & the bonus might get you a livelable 3 or 4 bed house. Locals move out cos they can't get a house - paradise is expensive I'm afraid. It's not 'hard' - just windy - you live and work around the weather, just like anywhere else

  • retarded, a ferry will do the job?

  • The airline know's whats better. You dont.

  • thats brilliant, reminds me of going over to Foula, I would love to b a pilot on a BN2 Islander!!

  • I found it entertaining :)

  • Hey, great video! Thanks!

  • great vid

  • lol...lets see American Airlines fly from Dallas to Los Angeles like that...very nice :P

  • they do

  • I like it..COOL!!
