  • Did he seriously say grasshopper? What the, anyway good demo mate!

  • i use a digitech hardwire reverb and OD pedal with this amp, sounds really good.

  • Generally, if an amp sounds like shit clean, no amount of pedals is going to make anything happen. Get something that has something to it when you play clean and it will sound great when you plug in your pedals. My next purchase is going to be blackheart. As far as I can see and hear, there is no better bang for the buck anywhere else.

  • This or blackstar for metal?

  • @ravenshield56 Maybe too late to reply, but I'd go with blackstar :3

  • Yes, I like Class A concept of Valve Jr., a little muddy though, I like EQ on this and speaker sound. I have the epi. I want something like this that takes pedals well, I have a lot of pedals.

  • This is the video that sold me like 2,5 years ago. Still loving the little giant, you can not go wrong buying this blind.

  • @gjrocks how is the bass on the little giant. Im ordering mine without playing on one. I like some umph behind it

  • @electropentatonic it's got some serious bass. More bassy then most amps I've heard... It's a great little amp.

  • what are some of the chord patterns your playing thanks

  • if you just want super heavy distortion then buy a solid state...this things got great tone though!!!!

  • @maciverandy has no one heard of distortion pedals.

  • shity amp dude thanks any way

  • that thing really honks..!!..I have the crate vc 20...sounds different from this..but just as cool..we live in a good time...20 yrs ago amps that sound this good were expensive and hard to find...!!..this stuff makes me want a tele..!!

  • @ EMGlespaulMESA Hey my man - take your Blackstar and turn the volume all the way up and the gain all the way down on both over drive channels . . . then bring the gain up just a little . . . you will have all the "bite" you need. I do this with the Blackstar dual tube preamp/pedal I am assuming you can get a similar tone from the amp itself; let me know if this works.

  • hey i sold this amp and bought the blackstar ht-5. now i kinda regret it. this amp has much more "bite". although for hard rock/metal the blackstar will eat this amp up. but for marshall crunch this amp takes it. wich is ironic considering blackstar was started by disgruntled marshall engineers. none the less great demo. nice audio.

  • ist this like a suped up valve junior?

  • thats solid. and I bet it sounds even ballsier with a Strat. does it have a pedal switch to go from clean to crunch?

  • it's a lot "boxy" sounding... too bad, but it might sound excellent with a 1x12 cab and a vintage 30.

  • @pfarina i replaced the tubes and it's a lot less "boxy" sounding. tung sol 12ax7 for preamp and gold lion el84 for power. works great

  • it is a great little combo...loud as heck and takes any pedal you threow at it really well...i put a demo of it up using a boss ds 1 just as a boost...but killer little amp..

  • Man, that amp(and playing) sound GREAT! I know how these little amps work....very bright and raw. That's why so many guys end up getting something else. Usually something that "smooths" out their tone "for 'em" because they lack it in their hands. But the trick is....if you can learn to play with a raw open sound...and fatten it up with your hands....you can clean/clear it up with those same hands in a millisecond with your touch. Looks like a good "grab and go" jam amp to me:) IMHO

  • I fully recognize that I should know this, but what is the name of the song that begins at 2:00?

  • Funk 49 by Joe Walsh

  • funk #49 by james gang

  • The right pedal can give you gain at any volume. This can be helpful for keeping levels down in a practice situation.

I was testing out some fuzz pedals and was enjoying this amp. Good all and all tube sound. Nice demo Wamp.

  • Best thing I ever bought for 200 bucks was an all-tube OD pedal. Now every amp I own can be a 3 channel gain monster, but without a single solid state gain stage in the signal path. I have the SD twin tube classic (the mayhem and the blue both have an SS input stage, classic is all-tube) but the effectrode pedals are great too. It's like putting a JCM800's preamp section in front of your vox, fender, crate, or whatever. Old tube phono preamps work too.

  • it is not by crate, the people who own crate also own blackheart

  • The blackheart amps actually do have crate written right on the front panel, crate is a subsidiary of loud technologies, but blackheart is a division of crate. However, that means jack shit to me, the V18 I had before I got my classic 30 was one of the sweetest amps I ever put a pair of bugle boys in. The name means nothing, especially if you know your way around the NOS tube market and know how to build your own cabinets out of solid hardwoods, with vintage jensens!

  • Most any, no frills vintage style tube amp loaded with stock tubes will leave alot to be desired tonewise! a tube amp such as this requires, good tubes, a good guitar and pickups, good pedals. (EQ) These amps sound totally killer in the right hands! It IS a vintage style amp with a (almost) pure clean signal path.

  • Hi there. Nice demo. This amp works well with effect pedals like a tube screamer? Thanks. keep on Rockin!

  • Owned one .....too much hype for what it is.

Having no master volume means to have to blast it to get any good tube tones outta this thing!

Wonder why you haven't see these for sale at the local guitar center or Sam Ash stores? It's because they are all about HYPE and MARKETING!

Save your cash and get a tube amp with a master volume... They guy that bought mine sold it a week later...not because it was bad..because he thought the same thing I did...too much hype for what it delivers!

  • Or get a mod for a few bucks, which will give you a killer amp for a killer price -.-

  • All ready tried the Bitmo 10-nuator...It sucked too!

As far as other mods go...why the hell would I want to buy an amp for what it "could" be instead of what it actually is?

The BEST thing to do is go try one of these amps for YOURSELF! I think that 95% of everyone reading this will agree with my comments if they actually OWNED one and spent some hours with it...

Find out for yourself! Don't believe the hype!

  • it was probably not meant for people who can only play at bedroom volumes. it was not meant to have a master volume, just 1 volume like a plexi. you still have to crank master volume amps to get power tube saturation anyway, but hey, if you like it you like it, if you don't you don't

  • so if there had been no hype but the exact same sound coming from the amp you would have kept it? .. right

  • What? NO....I sold it because I was DISAPPOINTED! Face it, nobody wants to say "I got a new amp...i guess it's OK, but with a shit load of mods it can sound good..." GIVE ME A BREAK! I sold it on Craigslist over 6 months ago and it has had 3 more owners since I owned it.....stop and think for a moment...that in itself has GOT to tell you something.

    Very limited amp....period.

  • kk chill, i was just picking up on when you said "sold it a week later...not because it was bad..because he thought the same thing I did...too much hype for what it delivers! "

you were saying him (and you) sold it because there was too much hype not because it was bad.

anyway tone is all subjective, what 1 person hates another loves

  • wow, not bad!

  • Can you use it in a band practise of maybe a small gig?thanks! =)

  • but if you mic that amp in monitors can also used in bigger gig aslo ;)

  • I own this amp. Always thought it was 'harsh' sounding and never was totally happy with it. Considered shelling out $200 for the Allen Mod but am just going to sell it. Have a '62 Fender Bassman that is just too good. The Blackheart is loud though and you can get some nice variety of (albeit harsh) tones. Good value for the $ and customizable.

  • An equalizer can soften the sound.

  • How would this sound with EMGs?

  • well its a little bit more expensive then 200 $.... But OMG its perfect

  • The speaker is 75w but the amp is 5 w, How loud is it?

    thanks!

  • sick amp. definitely getting one.

    btw nice playing

btw darkknight just watch the fucking video and get a fucking life

  • can its clean tones keep up with the drummer?

  • well im usually a drummer and don't much about amps and im just looking for something to mess around on and learn to play the guitar maybe jam with some friends should i save money to wait and get the bh15h? Is it much better as far as loudness goes or can you just get more tone from it. I dont need anything with pro tone since i will mostly likely not be giging with it, so should I just save a $100 and get the 5 watt or should I just wait to get the 15watt? Im using a S-S-H set up guitar

  • Check out Tone Kings Blackheart Lil Giant vs. Hansome Devil Challenge. The 5 watt actually hangs with the 15 w very well. Best!

  • If you plan on actually playing with a band, save your money and buy a bigger amp.

  • actually, i use mine through a 4x12 and it puts my bassist's 30 watt cube to shame volume and punch wise.

  • That's because your bassist is running through a 30 watt cube. That really isn't very much of an amp for a bass player. I played the black heart with a couple guys until we got a drummer. Needless to say I bought a Fender hotrod deville the next day. It's a great practice amp but I haven't even touched it since I got the Fender. Let alone the tone quality.

  • It really doesn't matter how big it is if you've got a PA..

  • It's an amplifier review, not a guitar face off.

  • very clever

  • What's wrong with his playing? It's clear, deliberate, and seasoned sounding.

A gear demo should be about showing off the gear, not the noodling. The player should suit the equipment, a task Mr. Wampler performs handily.

  • I'm a gear geek bedroom wanker in a performing band with 43 weekly guitar students.

Crawl back under your bridge and stalk some billy goats, cool guy.

  • I don't care what you have done. You made a completely stupid generalization about people you don't know.

We're now arguing over the internet which makes us both complete idiots. Congrats. I hope Lady Gaga will still buy your awesome songs.

  • By the way, you're the one that started it up with me and threw your resume around. I think that makes you the only idiot around here. Go post on some gear forums. Here's to your "success". Cheers, dumbass.

  • Haha why so loser?

  • im sorry but i severely doubt that your an acomplished musician, producer and songwriter if you dont even know who lady gaga is.

did you know micheal jackson just died aswell?

  • you make me laugh. just some cocky dickhead on youtube that thinks hes all that.

all you are is some naive shithead who goes around boasting about his shit before anyones even heard it.

  • honestly you make me laugh. im not joking mate i ACTUALLY think your as pathetic as some dickhead tramp who stupidly wasted all his money on gambling for laughs.

if your so accomplished, where the fuck is all this godlike music you have crafted?

  • i havent failed once, im barely even started. im known as a truely tasteful guitarist by many a people. honestly, i have not failed once.

you speak exactly like a complete computer geek.

i'm striving for last word? i dont think you can say that after hitting the "reply" button.

i still havent seen any examples of your o so successful career.

  • err yeah ok, ive let go of the anger now. im chiled out.

now can i see your music?

  • DarkKnight91, you are one of the biggest assholes I've ever seen. This is a simple video of a guy demonstrating his guitar amp and you come in bragging about your "career" and treating everyone like shit. You think you are better than all of us? Then upload a video of yourself playing your guitar, and then we'll talk.

  • I can clearly see that TheGamingGuitarist is right. YOU TRULY ARE an asshole who treats everyone like shit. If you are what you claim to be, you can prove it by answering this question:

which artists have recorded your songs? In the meantime, you can stop fucking around with my friend you arrogant piece of shit.

  • darkknight: THIS MAN KILLED MY WIFE

Officer: ok can you prove that?

darkknight: why the fuck do i need to prove it? i say ist true so you should beleive me! your going to die alone!

mate. you dont mean shit to me until i see your music.

you can say all you want but your words currently have 0% substance

  • dude....wheres your music?

  • You will live a better life if you change your attitude DarkKnight.

  • You keep on telling us to get girlfriends when you don't even know if we already have one. Some of us might be married, or single. You don't have to make us talk about our personal lives.

  • Why don't we just leave each other alone.

  • @TheGamingGuitarist im geussing hes just a lonely, single dude

  • @TheGamingGuitarist I actually have 3 wifes.....

  • Get a room you two.

  • That's an epic piece of advice!

  • still sounds quite boxy with the blackheart cab, im thinking of getting one with a vox 212.

  • nice tone with the strat, but id like to hear a Paul or humbucker equipped guitar through this.

  • can you cover the drums with a class a tube amp?

  • The Epe Valve Jr blows this crap away.

  • Only because you own the Epe Valve Jr or work for them.

  • For 200$ it's a real deal mate.. I'll buy this amp, thx a lot for this video ^_^

  • spend a little more, get a used blues jr. sounds way better.

  • will be this amp good with some pedals for metal and low volumes(bedroom)?

  • It's ALOT louder.

  • im not shure but it come whit a 75w eminence loud speaker....so its powerfull enough

  • bought one of these a few months back

got the head and 2 1X12 cabs for $400 CDN used...excellent little amp...i'd like to see an effects loop for a rev tank...but whatever...amazing tone

  • what a great little amp. and nice playing

  • VERY nice playing

  • Action packed video! Sound's good too! (Like the James Gang riff.)

  • is that just natural amp distortion or do u have an overdrive pedal in there?

  • That's the amp overdrive.

  • whats the opinion about their 15W version? i really think i need some extra volume for the drumming here, and 15 will do

  • mod this one. or get the other one. it really doesn't matter.

  • got it today!! great little amp by it be happy!! vintage tone for 160 euros!!

  • man that sounds great... and a hell of alot cheaper then that deluxe iv had my ears on for about 2 years, i think im going to try one of these out. What do u think of that 112 cab, or would i just be better off just getting the head and a 212 carvin cab or something similer?

  • whats song you playing near the end ??

  • gmac, figure it out, it will be a good exercise for your ears, trust me.

  • blackheart isn't by crate as you said in the beginning . . .

  • Are you splitting semantic hairs or are you not aware that the Crate name/logo appears on the front of BH amps? These things are openly marketed as being 'by Crate.'

  • you're an ass

  • that's cool.

  • Blackheart is by crate. I own a little giant. It says crate on the bottom right corner on the front of the amp head.

  • not bad sound for under 400 with cab!,if it had some reverb would be a must for cheap recording!.

  • Whould you be able to get a good distortion with some sort of pedal even at low sound levels?

  • You can get get a good distortion with the Ibanez TS9 or even the cheap plastic Ibanez TS5. I own both and they both give a good distortion with the blackheart.

  • Yeah! I didnt get the Little Giant, I got the Blackheart Killer Ant 1W instead. And a Blackstar Ht-Dual pedal. Amazing sound!

  • So can you jam with a drummer with this amp?

    lol

    Sounds Great

  • "its actualy loud enough to keep up with the drummer"

  • do anyone think the sound would get better if I shifted the tube in the amp to a mesa boogie tube?

  • was that cab a 1-10 or a 1-12

  • uhh.. solid state does not mean a rectifier. not even close.

  • if someone could record something with at backheart and a epiphone firebird VII i would be glad :)

  • is dis blackheart little giant amp head only?

  • There is also combo version.

  • haha

  • serious

  • can someone please explain me the differences between solid state amp and tube amp?

    thanks

  • Solid state means that the circuit uses transistors. A tube amp has vaccuum tubes and has a much warmer, responsive tone.

  • Is that $250 for the head or the whole halfstack?

  • for the head only i think

  • i think its like $350 for both of them at guitarcenter

  • preaty loud for a house.Dirty bluesy tones needs attenuator.....

  • hey...how loud is this amp in clean (no crunch)?

    ;) thx :D

  • does anyone know if..

1.) If you have to put power on without standy first, then turn on standby to keep the tubes safe?

2.) If turning up volume on a tube combo amp damages it?

  • 1) It's best if you turn on the standby first to let the tubes warm up and then the power button, then turn off the standby so you don't get that "pop" sound frm the speakers.

2)No it doesn't damage it, you'll just get natural distortion

  • Uhm, you first set the power switch to "on", and let the standby switch stay on "standby" for a while before you set it to "on". When you want to turn it off, you set the standby switch back to "standby", and wait for a short period before you set the power switch to "off".

  • I love this amp. Its a perfect break from my dual recto. It does not cover up mistakes and forces you to play better. Go get one now!

  • Was that seriously without pedals? It seems too good to be true.

  • nice tone..

in malaysia no have vintage tube amp..

    so poor

  • you guys have ceriatone god dammit

  • Tube amp @ only 5 watts? Its like eco or something

  • 5 watts of tubes is really loud.

  • yeah, you can fill a whole club with 10 watts tube.

i have a 180 watt tube amp and i've never had to turn it past one.

  • THAT WAS DIRECT? No pedals? Are you fucking serious? My future amp. I must have it.

  • What guitar do you play on during the recording? Sounds amazing!!

  • Didn't you see the headstock?? It's a Fender Telecaster :)

  • Thank God I got myself one for $250,A great amp indeed.

  • What's the tube compliment? 6L6, EL34?

  • EL84.

I like EL84's more than EL34's because 84's break up sooner and are much cheaper to replace. JJ EL84's are the bomb.

  • i must order one Blackheart.Sweer bluezy tones!What pickups do u use in that telecaster???Realy nice !!!

  • Oh boy! these things are now $350!! -.-

  • Man, you people must play with RIDICULOUS drummers.

As far as I'm concerned, if 15w-30w isn't loud enough to compete with your drummer, you need a new drummer, not a new amp. =P

  • sorry dude but it isnt. especially in metal you need to be loud cuz u wont over hear urself over the drums. UR drummer must be ridiculous. must play with paper drums

  • You bought the wrong amp if you are playing metal!! :) This amp isn't a metal amp, but is a great amp and what it is designed for!

  • isnt tube amps more for like.. blues, classic rock, hard rock and so? i dunno but i just wondered

  • noo..solid state amps are generally cheaper..they may last longer because they dont have tubes that can break. but their tone isnt as pristine and clear as tubes.

tube amps are gereally more expensive than solid state and have a much better tone. but they might break because of the tubes, which can be fixed by buying another tube.

  • but isnt a solid state amp more for like heavy metal, metal, power metal etc?

  • Hey check out my Blackheart Killer Ant 1 watt Head demo

  • You still got the demo mikeratan?

  • nope.. solid state are just cheaper and not quite as bright and crisp as tubes..

  • No dude, I fucking hate solid state metal amps like Line 6 and Crate. Its all about the tube amps like KEM...

    Krank, Engl, Mesa...

  • just cuz tube amps r better doesent mean that all solid states suck.. and i prefer the ones with tubes so far as they are very cheap.. altough i found for about 400 Bucks here in norway a morgan GX60R with tubes and so maybe ill get that

  • I know I was just saying that I prefer tube amps but there are good ss amps out there. BB King uses ss Gibson amps and his tone is phenomenal...
