The 5 year delay may have already guaranteed nuclear war between the USA and China over the remaining crude oil. Since a factual strategic and tactical analysis shows that China would easily win this war, with most of their population intact, while the USA would be annihilated, I would prefer not to witness or experience it.

It is frightening how pathetic Sapphire Energy's slime fuel project is as compared to my project. Mine costs 1/9th as much and produces somewhere between 5.4 times (based on their original prospectus) and 981 times as much (based on their recent web interview production estimates) usable fuel.

But more frightening is that they managed to connive $400 million in grants and loans guarantees, where I get beat down almost? into the ghetto, and suffer a 5 year delay due to internet censorship.

It's called make it better than petro-fuels without waiting for price points to force people onto them. The car didn't replace the horse and buggy because it was JUST AS EXPENSIVE. It did it because it was CHEAPER.

Something to consider with all this biofuel plastics stuff...if oil is from dead dinos, then the plastics made from it would break down. They don't. Thus, if you use biotic (botany-based) substances for your nylons and plastics, you might not like their lack of longevity.

Unless it can be privatized to death, algae for oil will suffer nearly the same fate as hemp for oil. I say both hemp and algae are great. Neither one of them use up so much land and both of them are carbon neutral. Plus, think of all the plastics that can be made from those two. Hey, how about man-made but environmentally friendly? And get me some nylons made from light sweet green crude, please. My wife and I will love 'em. :)

Yes, it is hard to tell if the human race has enough will-power to adapt to new fuels. It will take multiple and major paradigm shifts.

We need cleaner fuels badly just for cleaner breathing, but please research the carbon stuff - the whole "man-made global warming because of carbon footprint" idea is extremely questionable to me. Many scientists do not believe in the man-made global warming theory. Thanks for your belief in algal and hemp fuels!

I've heard all about the carbon stuff but even before researching it, I can tell by the tone of how they present it that they're really greenwashing. I'm no chemist but it doesn't take rocket science to figure out that global warming comes from various chemicals and that carbon alone cannot be the main culprit. I would also add that the so-called environmental groups do not want hemp or algae because they would lose their business of bashing oil. "Carbon footprint" is just a bullshit phrase IMO.

Things don't make sense in the directions we're taking as a human race, oftentimes because many industries are afraid of competition, so they attempt to STOP their competition in different ways. As a scientist, I will make this point. Who gives a rat's ass what you believe. What you believe doesn't change the science, the evidence or the scientific consensus that man-made pollution is causing a much more rapid than normal change in the climate. Another thought: it is a very bad idea to make fuel from food crops such as corn, because it makes the cost of corn (food) go up. All fuel should be made from plants that will not compete with food production, and not take away food production tillable land. That is why biodiesel from algae or maybe hemp is more feasible than fuel from food crops such as corn.

So why is the government investing money in fantasies like hydrogen rather than putting a "Manhatten Project" together on algae biodiesal (vertical closed systems) that would be a total game changer and not require a totally new infrastructure like the hydrogen economy fantasy. Do that and give people tax incentives for solar roofs on their houses, for buying pluggable serial hybrids and you are done. Zero import of Mid-East oil, no money for terrorists or nuclear programs in those countries.

It isn't just carbon neutral...its carbon negative. You know why?

1)One cell of algae can such up 90% of its body weigh worth of Co2.

2)50% of its body weigh can be made to fuel.

3)after combustion, at max 35% will be co2. this is 78.5% cleaner than petrolium diesel.

4) if everyone uses algae biodiesel, the co2 level should in theory decrease from time to time.

no, that is a myth about being overpopulated - our planet's resources are mismanaged right now, we're not overpopulated. And, making fuel from food staple crops will cause the price of food to go up, because the demand for those crops will go up. Fuel from algae would be a good thing, because we would find new ways to mass produce algae; and it would not effect the food staples prices.

Though I concur with most of what you are saying I do believe that we can significantly alter the globe's temperature. Though we might not be doing it through carbon emissions, CFC's which do not allow ozone to recreate itself in its normal falling-growing cycle causes more UV rays to enter the atmosphere than normal. Also if we had a massive nuclear holocaust would cause the earth to recreate a man made ice age, however naturally well get there ourselves eventually.

i once saw a document found among the things belonging to Eddison's assistant. this document was something that the assistant pulled out of Eddison's trash can. the document shows Eddison's handwriting saying the idea should be scraped because he recognized it as "evil to the environment". they were plans for an internal combustion engine. this was years before Henry Ford. shame no one listened to Eddison on this. peace :)
