Phila Pa: Arlene Ackerman receives DEATH THREAT weeks after the Philadelphia Public School rejects a proposal from Techbook Online Corporation. Techbook Online Corporation does not promote violence or terror, but we don't blame the people who do. Enough is Enough... wwwdottechbookonlinedotcom
give these kids a computer and send them home .no deseases no thugs steeling lunch money no billies no risk of traffic accidents.no risk of killings in gun free zones no gangs .there is one big drawback they can't be communize them if they are at home.and some of the slaves would have to stay home and take care of them
tenure needs to be eliminated so that teachers who make even the slgithest mistake can be instantly terminated. also public education needs to be centralized on standarized testing and competition between schools.

The IMPACT evaluations are BIASED and lead to FAVORITISM ! Mean-spirited and UNFAIR!
The majority of the teachers fired were OLDER, BLACK WOMEN who had a vested interest in the community. They were fully credentialled and had years of experience.
They were replaced with YOUNG, WHITE, inexperienced kids who were temporary "slumming" through the ghetto.
BLATANT DISCRIMINATION and OUTRIGHT RACISM!
Michelle Rhee has NO RESPECT for teachers, and often refers to them with disdain!
Teacher "X" teaches 5 classes. He teaches 3 Algebra classes, 1 Advanced Algebra class, and 1 remedial class. His first four classes are okay, but his last class is utter chaos!
Why?
Is it because the class has 43 students instead of 35?
Or maybe because the majority of the students don't speak English?
Could it be that it's late in the day and the kids are tired?
Or maybe, just maybe, the kids are DOWN-RIGHT LAZY?
Stop blaming the hard-working, dedicated teachers!
Taxpayers would be appalled, if they knew the amount of money that goes to pay the exorbitant salaries of so-called administrators.
People with fancy titles by their name, but do NOTHING that benefits students.
(e.g. Curriculum Directors, Assessment Coordinators, Program Managers, Educational Consultants, etc!) People that have been out of the classroom in years, and are absolutely CLUELESS!
" . . . wined and dined by the big publishing companies."
The best way to fix the economy is to fix education.
The best way to fix education is to make education fun.
The best way to make education fun is to ask the kids.
The best way to ask the kids is to listen, appreciate, and applaud their honesty.
And while we're at it, we need to lower the voting age to 13. Maybe if kids feel like they have more control over the future they're paying dearly for, they'll feel less of a need to escape through drugs.
@eastariel I disagree. I am a product of the "make it fun"/low pressure/high self-esteem philosophy of education that dominated he 80s and 90s (and probably still does) and in retrospect I must say that they education I got from public school was sheer garbage. Everything was a "game", math was "magic", and yet all found it vapid and condescending. Knowledge is desirable in it's own right. What we really need are good teachers, qualified to speak on certain subjects, to satiate young minds,
Religious warfare is an economic, educational, and political issue ... as well as an ethical one. It's time we teach our children Comparative Religions in public school. We can call it Social Studies. Either we encourage religious tolerance throughout our nation, or we can wave goodbye to peace.
This education reform is all a lot of hocus pocus.
I compare it to all of the dumb, big brother tactics being used to try and get fat, bloated, piggish, Ameritards to pry the junk food out of their mouths. Fatasses know what they need to do to lose weight, they just are too undisciplined and pathetic to do it, they do not need big brother to hold their hands.
It is the same way with the Idiotic kids we call students and their parents . They do not care about learing, plain and simple.
I hate to say it, but, here it goes. I do not think all of the money in the world is going to make the USA's low achieving students improve very much if any. Programs, money, new dumbed down teaching techniques will all come up as failures, BECAUSE, it is not getting to the root of the problem. 90% of the problem lies with the PARENTS AND STUDENTS! The parents do not work with the kids and they don't instill in them the love of learning, thus, the kids see no value in trying in school= dummies.
This is such great news if *only* the money can really been spent on ***NO CHILD** getting left behind!!! from my finger tips to the good Lord's ears I hope & pray!!
what a great thing to hear a positive news story for a change!!'-)

We can fix it all if we understand multi-tasking.

I'd like to see education able to take advantage of the expertise in industry.
I'd like to see better student-teacher ratios. (I have 40:1 in two of my classes.)
I'd like to know all teachers are in class because they burn with passion to help students build a better future.
