  • give these kids a computer and send them home .no deseases no thugs steeling lunch money no billies no risk of traffic accidents.no risk of killings in gun free zones no gangs .there is one big drawback they can't be communize them if they are at home.and some of the slaves would have to stay home and take care of them

  • tenure needs to be eliminated so that teachers who make even the slgithest mistake can be instantly terminated. also public education needs to be centralized on standarized testing and competition between schools.

  • The best way to fix the economy is to fix education.

The best way to fix education is to make education fun.

The best way to make education fun is to ask the kids.

The best way to ask the kids is to listen, appreciate, and applaud their honesty.

And while we're at it, we need to lower the voting age to 13. Maybe if kids feel like they have more control over the future they're paying dearly for, they'll feel less of a need to escape through drugs.

We can fix it all if we understand multi-tasking.

  • @eastariel I disagree. I am a product of the "make it fun"/low pressure/high self-esteem philosophy of education that dominated he 80s and 90s (and probably still does) and in retrospect I must say that they education I got from public school was sheer garbage. Everything was a "game", math was "magic", and yet all found it vapid and condescending. Knowledge is desirable in it's own right. What we really need are good teachers, qualified to speak on certain subjects, to satiate young minds,

  • Religious warfare is an economic, educational, and political issue ... as well as an ethical one. It's time we teach our children Comparative Religions in public school. We can call it Social Studies. Either we encourage religious tolerance throughout our nation, or we can wave goodbye to peace.

  • This education reform is all a lot of hocus pocus.

I compare it to all of the dumb, big brother tactics being used to try and get fat, bloated, piggish, Ameritards to pry the junk food out of their mouths. Fatasses know what they need to do to lose weight, they just are too undisciplined and pathetic to do it, they do not need big brother to hold their hands.

It is the same way with the Idiotic kids we call students and their parents . They do not care about learing, plain and simple.

  • I hate to say it, but, here it goes. I do not think all of the money in the world is going to make the USA's low achieving students improve very much if any. Programs, money, new dumbed down teaching techniques will all come up as failures, BECAUSE, it is not getting to the root of the problem. 90% of the problem lies with the PARENTS AND STUDENTS! The parents do not work with the kids and they don't instill in them the love of learning, thus, the kids see no value in trying in school= dummies.

  • I'd like to see education able to take advantage of the expertise in industry.

I'd like to see better student-teacher ratios. (I have 40:1 in two of my classes.)

I'd like to know all teachers are in class because they burn with passion to help students build a better future.

  • Shouldn't special interest take a back seat on a lot of things Katie?

  • this is retarded.

    "shouldnt kids be important?"

bet katie didnt write this one either

  • Katie has such a horrible sense in fashion.

  • This is such great news if *only* the money can really been spent on ***NO CHILD** getting left behind!!! from my finger tips to the good Lord's ears I hope & pray!!

what a great thing to hear a positive news story for a change!!'-)
