Blow off vavles, dump valves or whatever you wanna call them do absolutely no good on turbo diesel engines, you may aswell just take a shit in your fuel tank
obviously they are to stop compressor stall when butterfly is closed but they also reduce lag.
even on a diesel when u let of the accelerator u get low pressure driving turbine yet still highish pressure in the intake/compressor and this slows the turbo, a BOV prevents this by unloading the compressor.
Have u never witnessed compressor surge in a diesel? u do get it, especially as diesels boost much higher than petrols- these are about 15psi standard, I ran mine at 25psi!
@tpvalley your obviously more knowladgeable about engines than me, i dont know nowt to be honest, all i know is on forum i used to go on when i had my golf Gt Tdi 140 golf, all the tuners who used to go on said they do absolutely nothing for tdi engines and are a complete and utter waste of money, thats all i was going off. everybody's entitled to their opinion, not sure who's right or wrong, all i'm saying is, i'll never put one on my car :o)
@penpen132 well not even just fords. Basically anything can be bought in a diesel model. I'm not big on anything chrysler owned, but i would LOVE to have a diesel wrangler and a fiat abarth as my gasser. Both essentially under chrysler.
I didn't measure the exact acceleration of the car with the BOV or by turning it off so I can't tell you for sure whether performance is affacted. In the worst case performance should remain the same.
The blow-off is fitted directly to the turbo's system. It has electrical control unit together with a senzor mounted on the gas pedal (not clutch!). It works really well, I have it on my car since 3 years.
diesel engines dont need a BoV, since there is not throttle plate.

Hi I have a Ford Focus exactly like the video, "you could inform me how to install the BOV and where you purchased?
A greeting and thanks in advance

The BOV can be installed on almost every car with a turbo diesel engine.

@penpen132 seriously, the European market is so much better, especially for diesel heads.

There is no benefit, other than noise, to mounted a blow-off on a diesel engine.
hartbiltdiesel 2 years ago
it's Completely un-necessary to have a blow-off on a diesel

Where did you get the valve and how did you install it? Thanks!

Does the valve is fitted immediately mechanically? no electrical connection on the clutch? it works much better?
Thank you for your comments
