I live in the Pacific Northwest and use a pruning saw as well in partnership with a suitable knife that can split with. I found that scoring dry would half way through in sections about one foot long prolonged the life of the blade. I find two trees tangent at the base or a heavy v notch to pry the one foot sections apart. I usually don't cut anything heavier than four inches in dia. I also use the saw for notching in shelter craft. Its faster and safer than a knife. I pack a 10 inch saw.
Great review and well done video. I checked out you other videos, excellent work. Subbed and looking forward to watching all you work. I Camp/Backpack with a 40# pack so any reduction in weight is much appreciated at my age. :) If that Gerber breaks check out the Bahco Laplander, it's the gold standard in hand/pruning saws.
i was reluctant to buy this saw (actually, i got the fiskars - but it's the same thing), but i'm sure glad i did... this saw and my teapot are always in my backpack.
Great vid! Just a note, I do a lot of commando camping camping in stuff that just does not amount to much more than a thicket or building blinds. i use a saw all the time because it's quiet, whacking with a hawk can be heard a long way off!

This saw is amazing, especially for its price. Its light as a feather, and cuts with minimal effort.
