I have an automatic R2-D2 that I got when I was five. It responds to your voice when you say certain commands. But its small by about maybe 2 feet.

Ever find it weird that in every Star Wars movie, R2D2 always finds a smooth surface to roll across? I mean, you think he'd have to go across bumpy tiles once in a while, like in this video. By the way, awesome job!

I would hardly call the desert sands of Tunisia a smooth surface, and indeed it caused them quite a headache during filming. Look at the dvd extras for Episode 1 The Phantom Menace, you'll see a behind the scenes video where they discuss all the "bad droid karma" they had, as well as how they overcame some of the problems.

Funny you should mention that. I just watched that the other day. It's amazing how much George Lucas accomplished despite the obstacles he encountered.

I was more referring to the fact that the Empire always seemed to have smooth floors in the Death Star etc. The Empire weren't much for interior decorating and that's why the Death Star was cold an uninviting. That and the fact that it was called the Death Star.

A static cardboard/resin R2 may run 600-700, but there is a big difference even from 50 feet away between what vincentvalentinerox is talking about and what we see here. That R2 is simply AWESOME!!!

My R2 was a little under 5000.00 plus 600 hours of blood, sweat, and tears.
