how.. oh dang you wont gimme this even if I pay 40i09u6393u698453u7489345u7938793845798937484347468887854637836785486735867349856768536659847698347568736459 billion dollars
I like how you included the restraining bolt so he doesn't get away! At that price I can't blame you. You don't want the cheap ones with the bad motivator units.
Ever find it weird that in every Star Wars movie, R2D2 always finds a smooth surface to roll across? I mean, you think he'd have to go across bumpy tiles once in a while, like in this video. By the way, awesome job!
I would hardly call the desert sands of Tunisia a smooth surface, and indeed it caused them quite a headache during filming. Look at the dvd extras for Episode 1 The Phantom Menace, you'll see a behind the scenes video where they discuss all the "bad droid karma" they had, as well as how they overcame some of the problems.
Funny you should mention that. I just watched that the other day. It's amazing how much George Lucas accomplished despite the obstacles he encountered.
I was more referring to the fact that the Empire always seemed to have smooth floors in the Death Star etc. The Empire weren't much for interior decorating and that's why the Death Star was cold an uninviting. That and the fact that it was called the Death Star.
Kind of cool......except that as of next Thursday, thanks to JJ Abrams take on Gene Roddenberry's masterpiece, Star Trek will finally take its place as the undisputed king of Sci-Fi.....and Star Wars will be a distant memory of annoying ewoks and father issues. Trek is the daddy! (ducks and runs from the Warsie fanboys) LOL :D
Still this R2 unit is very nicely made, I give you that. Respect! :)
A static cardboard/resin R2 may run 600-700, but there is a big difference even from 50 feet away between what vincentvalentinerox is talking about and what we see here. That R2 is simply AWESOME!!!
My R2 was a little under 5000.00 plus 600 hours of blood, sweat, and tears.
@wizojoz what did your wife say to that? Took me over a week and half just to get her permission to purchase the Lionel Area 15 train set this week. It came out in May 2008 and it is now Oct 1 2010. Discovered the train set about 2.5 wks ago.
@vincentvalentinerox 600-700 maybe for a static droid if your lucky but you would have to be really crafty. I hVE 5 GRAND In mine and I am only halfway finished now!
what would your neighbors say if R2 was just out for an afternoon stroll. i can imagine the reactions, LMAO! or have him greet the mailman, garbage people, etc, that would be worth getting on video. awesome droid and now i have a group to join.
I want a working Light sabre. A Red one! I'm not a Jedi so I can't make my own but I have a concealed weapons permit in the state of Florida so there won't be a problem. Let me know how much. Thanks...
OH man... if I could spend that amount of money I'd loose my head building this too ! congratulations.... maybe for many people, this is like a dream that comes true, really !

Awesome work man! But it isn't a robot if it is RC controlled, because a robot has to act independently in world without humans.
