Let me prefix this: I love the Roots. But this video was unnecessary. We get it, Redford's story is tragic. But do we have to do all this? A mock interview? Redford's story is no more tragic then other fictional urban male black characters. What about Bishop from Juice? Bodie? Shit Wallace was way more tragic. I mean he got killed by Bodie and Poot, his boys. I feel the Roots are trying to milk this awesomely great album of theirs a little bit too much.

@brothermrn You definitely made points, but I don't look at it like The Roots are milking this due to any degree of tragedy from other characters. It seems to me like they just want to articulate the story in a very different way. I think this video and any others they might do goes a long way in making that happen. They're looking at different aspects of something that's very common among young black males, giving it a different sort of attention.

Wow!!! This is the sad story for a lot of young men coming up with single, often young, mothers. This album is the best of 2011 IMO
