When I told my mom about my mom that I wasn't Christian anymore, she said read the bible. She's giving me religious stuff to read all my life. Didn't have the heart to tell her that's why I changed my mind. I actually read it and something in my mind said "wait, this shit is fucked up."
@nasmoe yeah unfortunately most people dont actually read the stupid thing and just go to the church to get the cute and fluffy cliff notes. Have you watched the videos from concordance on his deconversion? It is an excellent series about the bible and is very well done. Thanks for watchin my videos though. i appreciate it.
Part3: Just to elaborate,The bible is not written in stone, it was WRITTEN BY MAN, to my knowledge and then put together by a council. Havent you heard of the lost books of the bible as in the ones that didnt make it into the bible.
But although I dont feel as though it was directly made by god it may have been influenced by him or in any means by people who wanted to help or whatever. but ya this video is pointless because it address the comments of a 1st grade christian.
@Mr2weak unfortunately that 1st grade christian would turn to you and say ...Your not a TRUE christian. and if you read the bible you'd understand.... That's my point.. you can't both be right but u can both be wrong. If a GOD wanted to teach us something then he would and make it clear and undeniable. not with 250 different interpretations. if there was a god u know what would be his law. Gravity no interpretation. this is how it . U dont have to beleive it but u jump off a building there it is
@philosophyman76 PART1: We cant be both right and both wrong but one of us can be right and one of us can be wrong,
God has taught us something from the bible, but what you learn from it is your interpretation of it. Many things are stone cut like the ten commandments. But the rest is really just filler. Remember that the bible is a book written by MEN but inspired by god. You stake too much in defaming it, a win nothing when you accomplish that goal.
@philosophyman76 PART2; As i said before you cannot disprove gods existence, it would be like disproving the existence of aliens. All you can do is try to discredit the "evidence" Christians have for God, and thus you confuse the bible a book of christian teachings for the staple of belief in god when in actuality it is merely a vessel through which we can bring ourselves closer to god.
The bible isnt perfect and neither is man. If god wanted us to have undeniable proof we would already have it
@Mr2weak See the problem is start w/god exists as a statement of truth. its not. No we can't disprove anything. But so what. that puts your god on the same plain as santa and unicorns. So your left with an assertion. And thats fine if you want to say I beleif this with no evidence at all your welcome to but don't look to have your beleifs taken seriously then. If I walked into you home and declared myself king of earth and gave you the same evidence you hv 4 god then start bowing
@philosophyman76 PART1: That is the problem though, I claim to have evidence but that evidence is not sufficient enough for you. In my mind I have sufficient evidence.
Santa isnt real ofcourse or atleast he doesn't fly around the world thats impossible, but unicorns.. who knows. I dont believe in them but who knows. You can say I am agnostic towards the existence of unicorns.
Absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence,
@Mr2weak why cant santa fly all around the world? It's magic. you believe in magic right? Loaves and fishes, walking on water, creating the heaven and earth and man by willing it into existence? done. The same reason you don't believe in santa is the same reason I dont believe in god. Its just you want god to be real so you make a special exception. In philosophy its called special pleading. Please watch my defining the terms vid. We are ALL AGNOSTIC about everything.
@philosophyman76 PART2: Oh when you say magic you mean divine intervention. Yes, ofcourse I believe in divine intervention.
Now that you mention it it is perfectly possible that santa could exist, its possibly we have all been naughty every year and haven't received any presents, or maybe we have and there just invisible. Your unrealistic metaphor is crashed and burned.
Ofcourse we are all agnostic, I dont need to see a video to know that.
@Mr2weak no you should watch the video because it explains what I am defining as faith and knowledge. I just watched that whole lennox debate. and I thank you because i'm going to do some videos explaining why lennox is ridiculous and you sent that to me bc i guess you agree with him on some level. If your going to agrue that ANYTHING is possible therfore we have to accept EVERYTHING and true then our discussion is over. ...I'm going to live int the world that actually exists
@Mr2weak if what you are saying is that you are going to beleif everything exists no matter what the evidence says then your're delusional. i don't mean that as an insult i mean it as thats what delusional means. if i show you at the north pole no elves or santa, we never see santa, how impossible getting to everywhere is how the is no evidence of such a being and you say."well you cant see him bc you dont believe and you cant disprove him. we cant have a discussion anymore. ur just delusional
@philosophyman76 Its funny because without god people actually have no foundation for morals. But other than that who is creating laws based on Christianity and who is asking for Christianity to be taught in schools.
Would these be people that we all consider to be logical and coherent? Because I personally was taught and believe evolution should be taught in schools. Christianity has is place and I dont think school is one of them.
@Mr2weak HA so before moses came down with the commandments all the jews were just killing and stealing and lying band thought nothing of it. THEN moses said GOD said THOU SHALT NOT KILL. and everyone stopped killing and now they understood that killing one another was wrong. seriously? you beleive that. How do people in africa who havent ever heard of a bible or jesus survive without killing each other all the time.
@philosophyman76 I can go into that argument, but it would be pointless because you should already know. I am not going to babysit you on this. God didn't say though shalt not push an old lady down the stairs... so why arent we pushing old ladies down stairs all day... seriously...
Your ONLY arguement is show me the evidence. I am telling you there is none, where do we go from here.
@Mr2weak well with no evidence you go where you go with everything else you have no evidence for. Non-belief. Again evidence is a good reason to beleive something. To believe something with no evidence is just as good as saying I believe this for no good reason. and if you believe things for no good reason makes you unreasonable. In which case you and your beliefs should not be taken seriously by anyone else.
@philosophyman76 That is a very good point, I like how you put me in a position where it is either show you undeniable proof of gods existence or declare myself a crazy person. And since I cannot show you proof, I am therefore insane and delusional.
I completely agree with your statement, everything there is true and logical. So please tell me why do I still believe in god and refer me to a therapist so I can get over this delusion and start living my life..
@Mr2weak I didnt call U crazy. Lots of rational, good, sane people hold false beliefs. I used to beleive in hell, gods, heaven, dragons, and all kinds of stuff. as I searched and educated myself though I realized that all my reasons for believing these things were not valid. I just WANTED to beleive them or was scared not to beleive them. But I value truth vs feeling good. It feels nice to think of my family living in heaven 2gether. i just have no good reason to think thats the case
@philosophyman76 It wont let me reply to your other post so ill say it here. You call me delusional for believing... But you dont understand how that removes credibly from other aspects of me.
All in all this comes down to one thing, always has and always will. You want evidence. I cant give it to you. There is NOWHERE we can go from there because even without evidence i still believe in god. So now you have to dismis me as a rational human being because my actions will be based on my beliefs.
@Mr2weak How can anyone call you a rational human being? You might be rational in all other aspects of your life, but when it comes to your religious beliefs, you are by definition delusional and IRRATIONAL. This does not necessarily mean that you are a delusional human being in ALL aspects of your life. Just when it comes to your belief in a deity. You hold onto your belief knowing fully well that you cannot even provide evidence for that belief. Now you tell me how that is any bit of rational.
@iz2sicc Yes, and a guy who is perfectly rational but believes there is a flying space monster in space is looked at as a completely rational persion who is only irrational in one aspect of his life? Stop dancing around semantics, either I am dellusional or I am rational, we cannot same I am dellusional and rational. We can say I am rational with a misconception, but the term "delusional" encompasses alot more in the public eye than you emphasis, and is condescending.
@Mr2weak Theism at it';s best. all or nothing. You can absolutely be delusional about a belief and rational about others. I have friend who is totally rational and reasonable about everything except his hatred for barack obama. You cant get him to say one good thing that obama has done in 4 years. so i guess he's irrational and delusional about EVERYTHING in his life.
@philosophyman76 Atheism is great as how it manages to completely remove any credentials anyone has regardless of there education simply because of there beliefs. Simply for the fact that I view the world differently than you you are now given the right to insult me, say I am delusional and say my opinion and ideas are irrelevant.
Do what you want but I wont continue to fuel your crusade against religion. When its dead and gone and the world is better off I am sure it wont be missed.
@Mr2weak if some1 is short and you call them short and they get offended well I'm sorry your short. deal with it. I was very clear about what the word delusional meant and why I would consider you delusional with a belief that you have no evidence for. It's not a personal attack. I'm not attacking you I'm attacking your beleifs and trying to show you that you are making a case for something that isnt true. Just like if thought you were on fire and weren't. ur delusional abt that belief
@Mr2weak Some Atheists might attack you personally for your religious beliefs. Those are angry Atheists. Not all of us free-thinkers act in that manner. Believe what you want, but when you do things like comment about your beliefs on the Internet, expect to be criticized regardless of how valid your belief is. There is always a critic waiting to challenge you. The education point you bring up is the conundrum here. Many well educated people believe in God. This calls for questioning.
@iz2sicc Who cares about being challenged? I relish the challenge? Athiest cannot say or do anything that I already do not know. They just present me with facts rearranged in a way they feel expresses there opinions best and hope that I am swayed.
For instance he keeps asking me what my evidence for god is.... What kind of question is that. He is taking what I already know and trying to reword and reiterate it in a way that he feels Should allow me to feel as he does. Epic Fails all around.
@Mr2weak "Athiest cannot say or do anything that I already do not know. They just present me with facts rearranged in a way they feel expresses there opinions best and hope that I am swayed." This is kinda called being unreasonable and irrational when you go into a discussion saying nobady can say something that i don't already know. Really? 2nd evidence. if your going to say something exists then RATIONALLY the next question is why do you belief that? What evidence do you have 4 that belief.
@iz2sicc No i am not doing this, I am not arguing with another atheist, sorry but this is a moot point we are all making. You have nothing to fight against my logic other than WITH my logic. Its so tiring...
Delusional is strongly believing in something despite superior evidence, so please present me with your "superior evidence" against gods existence or I will be forced to end this conversation. There is no way i will debate with someone who's INITIAL premise so so deeply flawed.
@Mr2weak OK here is the evidence against god. Its a syllogism. P1Things that exist can either be measured, seen, tested, or demonstrated in some way. P2 God shows none of those properties, C God doesnt exist. give me superior evidence that gnomes dont exist. Superior evidence is not the only reason. believing something with no evidence is just as bad.
@iz2sicc Here is an exerpt from C.S Lewis's book "God in the docks"
"An egg which came from no bird is no more natural than a bird that has existed for eternity. And since the egg-bird-egg sequence leads us to no plausible beginning, is it not reasonable to look for the real origin somewhere outside the sequence altogether? You look outside the sequence of engines to find the originator of the rocket. Is it not equally reasonable to look outside nature for the real originator of the world?"
@Mr2weak this might be true if we didnt know where chickens and eggs evolved from and how they did. We don't look outside of chicken and eggs we look at the ancestors of chickens and how they worked and then when things change we renamed them chickens and eggs but there is nothing outside. and rockets are not natural or biological so that analogy is bad. two differnt things
@philosophyman76 Ok mister smart guy since you want to talk smart to try to cover up that you have no clue what your talking about I will call you on it.
When was the first occurance of the egg, if so was it laid by a chicken or some kind of chicken ancestor, and how did said ancestor come into existence.
@Mr2weak OMG you are sitting at a computer. It took me about 3 mintues to look up "egg evolution. Of course since you don't have an understanding of basic evolutionary theory you'll say where is the chicken. Eggs are not the product of chickens only. the chicken had a common ancestor with all the other classifications of species that layed eggs. but if you look up Amniote in wiki you will find the ancestor and the evolutionary tree that goes to all birds. lived abt 340 million years ago
@Mr2weak if you want me to go through the entire evolutionary tree of every species that lives on the planet and all the species that proceeded them then this could take a couple of years. you do know there are people who dedicate their entire lives studying these things and dont just say GOD DUN IT. With the internet u can easily find their results and if you have evidence or can disprove evolution and all the evidence these ppl work to find then pls write a paper on it and win a nobel prize
@philosophyman76 I was going to respond to this, but I really dont see the point. it was a bad analogy... fair enough. But it was very interesting to see your condescending retort since there was a very nicer, more intelligent and albeit EASIER way to say it.
For example you could have said "Well one day a reptile laid an egg that happen to have a hard shell and due to Darwinism this trait was passed on" but instead you chose to make me look stupid and blamed it on god... how interesting.
@Mr2weak i'm sorry. I responded to you right after responding 2 3 people on my other videos who were calling me a gay pedophile and fat piece of arrogant crap. so I may have been a little sour when I responded to your comment. I forget that people are at different levels of understanding and 2 years ago I would have probably said I have no idea to your question and ...well probably done the same thing I did and looked it up but I would have not been as confident in myself finding the answer
@Mr2weak in my defense you did start your comment off with "Ok mr. smart guy..." Not usually how you start off a non attacking question and search for knowledge.
@philosophyman76 PART2: What do you mean by ANYTHING is possible... You lost me.
My standard for evidence... I dont know what you mean by that> can you give me some options? I think evidence is anything that is seen, touched or known that. As for evidence of god i would say, Those strange coincidences like dreams, and random events of chance. The insane complexity of life and the simplicity behind the complexity.
@Mr2weak any is possible. that seems like a pretty clear statement. You just got finished saying it's possible for santa to not be deliverying gifts. I kinda put that in the far-fetched catergory with gods. Is it possible. yes and i repeat ANYTHING is possible.
ok so seen and touched I get as evidence. What do you mean by known that? like I know i exist? If that is you standard then god doesnt fit. bc he isnt any of those things. so you have to give me ur standard that god fulfills
@Mr2weak strange coincidences, dream, and acts of chance is your evidence of god??? So if I through some dice its an act of chance that it lands on a 5. So if it lands on 5 then god? Seems weak. dreams prove god? why? what is the correlation that I have a dream henceforth there is a god. i think what ur going towards the argument from ignorance. It goes like this. "I dont understand it therefore god." 1000 years ago you'd say god made that rainbow. now we know its just light and water
@philosophyman76 PART3: Look this is pointless. Your asking me of evidence for god? THERE IS NO SUCH THING. So what do you want? Proof, THERE IS NO PROOF. So what are you asking for?
All your asking for is for evidence and standards for evidence, But there is no evidence? If there was you wouldnt be able to question his existence. So lets reach the point because I feel like I am going around in circles.
@Mr2weak not proof, evidence. Different. Any evidence would be nice. A bible written by man that contradicts itself is hardly evidence of an all powerful being. a dear is dead and there are tracks. The tracks are evidence. Proof is when we have enough evidence to confirm that wolves killed the dear. So i just want some evidence. and if there is no evidence then why should i beleive what your saying?
#1 - No anything is not possible, hence why I gave you my evidences afterwards... Keep up.
#2 - My "evidence have been given", If you putting rolling a dice in the same category as lucid dream of the future or a near death experience then your delusional.
#3 - 1000 years you said that if you put honey on a peice of meat and leave it outside you can create your own flies... we were all dumb 1000 years ago but your holding me accountable for it... funny.
Give me your definition of evidence please, because like I said last I need your definition of evidence... if your asking me for the dna of god he left when he was talking to moses then lets all agree that your dumb and move on. If you asking for the blueprints to life he left on earth on the 6th day then lets agree your dumb and move on...
What are you asking me for, please be more specific and please elaborate.
@Mr2weak yes we are going in circles simply because you WANT to beleive something and thats fine but in order to have someone else beleive what you say you need to provide evidence. Unless it doesnt matter. If you tell me your name is steve I'd probably beleive you bc i have no reason not to. If you tell me your name is steve and you have magical powers and i should worship you and give you money. i would then ask for some evidence of that claim. its that simple and thats my "point"
@philosophyman76 PART3: I feel as if this has gotten a little side tracked so let me try and bring this back to a place of reason.
I believe in god and you don't. You want evidence that causes me to believe, I know that no matter what I give it wont be sufficient because if it was you wouldn't be able to question gods existence. So I say "Just because you don't except my evidence doesn't mean it isn't sufficient evidence 'To Me'"....
@Mr2weak and i will once again say that when you say this is my standard of evidence needed for me to believe in something then you have to except EVERYTHING that fulfills that criteria. if you don't then you are making exceptions for what you WANT to believe and its not based on evidence at all. thats why science is our best way to understand the world. it has to be testable repeatable and me must be able to make accurate predictions from it. Prayer, hope, beliefs, feelings dont do that,
@philosophyman76 PART4: You tell me that based on my definition of evidence for me to believe in God I "would" also "have" to believe in things like Santa and Unicorns. I reply well I may not believe in them as I feel have no reliable evidence for them but at the same time I don't deny the small possibility of there existence.
See your trying to tell me how i should feel based on your science but you don't realize how you are overstepping your boundaries as a scientist by saying that.
@philosophyman76 PART2: You say on the same level as unicorns as if that is a bad thing. There is no contrary evidence to mythical animals, shit some people are still looking for the loch ness monster. And they will probably still be looking for it for another hundred years.
does the fact that all the evidence for the loch ness's existence doesn't meet standards for some people prove its non-existence. Of course not. Now am not saying that it does exist, but it is a good metaphor.
@Mr2weak Again atheists just do not Believe in a god. I am not interested in Disproving everything the mind can create. Thats why the burden of proof is on the person making the claim. So when a someone claims there is a god. we ask why do you belief that?" You can believe in god or unicorn or loch ness but dont expect others too unless you can show evidence and don't tell people they're going to hell, shouldnt abort a fetus, should or shouldnt anything bc of that belief.
@philosophyman76 You said it yourself, you just said it. We claim god exists, but we DONT expect you to belief it. You dont have to belief it. But we do, and if we do believe it then why cant we make an opinion about the subject? If you chose not to believe it then it has no application in your life. So why cant we believe what we want to believe?
I believe in god, Why cant I do that? What is wrong with it?
@Mr2weak the reason is because religion isnt just sit on the side and believe it. If you believed that the best color in the world is red. I'm fine with that. If you start organizing people into creating laws about red being the best color and saying that red is the only color that should be taught in art class, and anyone who believes any other color is the best has no morals and red is not in white light even after science shows it is. then we have a problem. henceforth religion
PART2: I dont think it is written by god, THAT IS OBVIOUS, PLEASE DONT USE WORDS FROM what i like to call 1st grade Christians as a means to call out all of Christianity. YOU ARE RIGHT, but the bible is meant to be for reflection, meant to be for insight, teachings on how to be a better person etc... So please delete this video or create another refuting what was said in here. You are addressing the comments of a moron and you defame Christianity by saying this.
PART1: People look at the bible as the ULTIMATE PROOF of christianity. Not true, infact many older religious parts of christianity practice finding a connection with god on a personal level. Bash the bible all you want but it really means nothing. It is a symbol but not the captain. You can burn the flag but that doesnt signify destroying america.
The bible is meant to be used for reflection, yes there are contradictions because IT WAS WRITTEN BY A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT GUYS. But that is obvious.
It is way too much of a hard read. My mind is wired in a way that if I am not interested in what Im reading, it will be impossible for me to follow. Add to that the fact that it's written in such an awful way, reading the bible becomes more of a chore than anything else. I did read through Genesis & stopped &religious people say my opinion on the bible is null unless I read it all. But I say once we have men made of clay, talking snakes, etc, how much more do I need to read to recognize it's BS?
"Don't READ your bible...". Another great job sir! I really enjoy your videos and look forward to your ideas on other topics, though this one is one of my favorites!
@philosophyman76 much like your "morality" 9:37 provides no real answers. God did NOT create the interpretations. Maybe since you don't remember a thing about what you read in the bible Revelation 22:19, the entire ministry of Jesus (in which he railed against pharisees adding to and reinterpreting the law) and many other examples in the bible where God condemns people for trying to change his word.
@SLRok again watch the video. i give an exact example of how a simple sentence can be interpreted 6 different ways. So you tell me which way is "correct". That's my point. you keep saying god didnt make the interpretations.. Yeah no duh. there is no god. MY point is if there was a god he wouldnt say anything that could be interpreted any other way. So when 2 ppl read the same sentence and both come up with different meanings how do YOU determine who is right? Does god tell you?
@philosophyman76 The correct way would be the intent of the speaker. Much like people who try to interpret the constitution to mean different things the real meaning lies in the intent of the writer/speaker. If you say something and you mean it a certain way then that is how it is to be not understood. Simple logic. And there is no way logically possible to say something that people wouldn't try to interpret into their own world view. Thats simply impossible. People interpret everything even
@philosophyman76 past events and things that happen right in front of them into their own world view. One person may look at a homeless man and say "oh wow what a poor soul I wonder what misfortune befell him?", the next might say "oh that lazy bum needs to get up and find a job", the next might say he is a victim of socio-economic issues or what have you but the point is they all have interpretations on why he is homeless. People will interpret anything and everything into their own world view.
@philosophyman76 How do you interpret the bible? You read what it says and understand the intent of the author. Its really how you would read any other book. I'm making a video right now to address the points you made in this video It should be ready soon, but I'm still getting the hang of iMovie.
@SLRok everything you read, you interpret. Again you tell me what the sentence"I didnt see the man beat his dog" means "correctly". And when you say "understand the intent of the author" you do understand that what you THINK the intent of the author is IS YOUR INTERPRETATION.
@philosophyman76 Unless I know the intent of the speaker I cannot tell you what the correct answer is. But of course I'm not THINKING anything I'm reading in plain words what the intent of the author is. Imagine how destructive of science, law and education this reasoning would be if applied to those fields. We could never know anything about anything because we'd be lost in an infinite regress of interpretation and reinterpretation.
@philosophyman76 Any statement without proper CONTEXT and MEANING is in effect meaningless. That is a simple piece of logic that I think we all can understand. Why do you think people complain about the "sound byte" world where a few sentences taken out of context and played repeatedly can be used to shape popular opinions of people.
@SLRok so if I hand some1 the bible who has no knowledge of god or christainity how would they know how to interpret the bible??? they don't know the context or the meaning. they just have the words. And guess what thats for EVERY book. What are you talking about. how do you KNOW the meaning of what an author is saying before you read WHAT THEY ARE SAYING? so you make up what u want to read b4 you read aka interpreting. If you know what god means b4 you read his words WHY READ THE WORDS?
@philosophyman76 Before I read Shakespeare, Marx, or any other book I had no clue about them or what they said, yet and still I understand the intent of those writers. How? I read the words. When Marx says religion is a tool of the bourgeois to oppress the proletariate thats exactly what he means. I don't have to read my own worldview into that. When I read that Caesars last words were "et tu Brute" right before Brutus plunged the last knife into him that I don't have to interpret that.
@philosophyman76 I'm not going to question wether or not that knife was actually a knife or a nerf dart. I got the context and meaning of the words contained in the book by READING THE BOOK. When ever have you known what someone means before they speak? Obviously you won't walk up to a book and have knowledge of it BEFORE you read it. Why bother going to college or even reading if you have that skill? I'm saying you will get the intent and the meaning when you read. Before I read the bible I
@philosophyman76 didn't know alot of what it said. But once I read it I understood the meaning and the intent. Same with any other book. In your example of the 1 phrase that can be read 6 ways you are correct with no proper context or intent words are in effect meaningless. But once the speaker says "this is my intent, of when you listen to him say it and you hear how he says it" then any and every person and their interpretation is nullified.
@SLRok And I will say once again u are claiming that u are right And again if everyone agreed then you might have a point but apparently there are LOTS of people who all belief in god just like u, all tell people to just read the bible just like u, and they all believe that they way they read it is correct, just like u. No one thinks the knife was a dart but many ppl read the same bible as u and are just as convinced as u are that they are right. You cant all be right but you all can be wrong
And your way of explaining yourself is really well mannered. I mean, you're not actually trying to convert anyone from christianity, neither do you want to step on anyones toes - Just trying to (finally) explain christians why atheists don't agree with them, in a very polite, adult way.
Most of the time all the religious arguements I stumble upon are filled with naive opinions from angry people on both sides of the arguement.. So a refreshing change to see something this well spoken...
@sarkasmi83 I appreciate that compliments and I'm glad you enjoy my vids. I will say I'm not ALWAYS so well mannered. I try to keep my level of attacks at the same level that the attacks are sent at me or atheists in general. more to come. by the way I';m always open to suggestions for videos. I'm am thinking about expanding out of just the religious debating soon. also if you like me watch "theoreticalbullshit" stuff. that guy is amazing
I gotta say, yet again; An amazing video. Love how you used such a simple way of explaining your point 100% clearly with such a normal/neutral phrase as "I didn't see the man beat his dog" :D
Brilliant.
Unfortunately "Atheists" is such a bad word these days. I mean, most atheists give atheists a bad name by being ignorant and tossing around the label "atheist" like it was a RANK for them or something "cool" to be a part of. Such well put arguements like yours are simply put a pleasure to hear.
When I told my mom about my mom that I wasn't Christian anymore, she said read the bible. She's giving me religious stuff to read all my life. Didn't have the heart to tell her that's why I changed my mind. I actually read it and something in my mind said "wait, this shit is fucked up."

If I walked into you home and declared myself king of earth and gave you the same evidence you hv 4 god then start bowing
philosophyman76 4 weeks ago
@philosophyman76 PART1: That is the problem though, I claim to have evidence but that evidence is not sufficient enough for you. In my mind I have sufficient evidence.
Santa isnt real ofcourse or atleast he doesn't fly around the world thats impossible, but unicorns.. who knows. I dont believe in them but who knows. You can say I am agnostic towards the existence of unicorns.
Absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence,
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak why cant santa fly all around the world? It's magic. you believe in magic right? Loaves and fishes, walking on water, creating the heaven and earth and man by willing it into existence? done. The same reason you don't believe in santa is the same reason I dont believe in god. Its just you want god to be real so you make a special exception. In philosophy its called special pleading. Please watch my defining the terms vid. We are ALL AGNOSTIC about everything.
philosophyman76 3 weeks ago
@philosophyman76 PART2: Oh when you say magic you mean divine intervention. Yes, ofcourse I believe in divine intervention.
Now that you mention it it is perfectly possible that santa could exist, its possibly we have all been naughty every year and haven't received any presents, or maybe we have and there just invisible. Your unrealistic metaphor is crashed and burned.
Ofcourse we are all agnostic, I dont need to see a video to know that.
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak no you should watch the video because it explains what I am defining as faith and knowledge. I just watched that whole lennox debate. and I thank you because i'm going to do some videos explaining why lennox is ridiculous and you sent that to me bc i guess you agree with him on some level. If your going to agrue that ANYTHING is possible therfore we have to accept EVERYTHING and true then our discussion is over. ...I'm going to live int the world that actually exists
philosophyman76 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak if what you are saying is that you are going to beleif everything exists no matter what the evidence says then your're delusional. i don't mean that as an insult i mean it as thats what delusional means. if i show you at the north pole no elves or santa, we never see santa, how impossible getting to everywhere is how the is no evidence of such a being and you say."well you cant see him bc you dont believe and you cant disprove him. we cant have a discussion anymore. ur just delusional
philosophyman76 3 weeks ago
@philosophyman76 Its funny because without god people actually have no foundation for morals. But other than that who is creating laws based on Christianity and who is asking for Christianity to be taught in schools.
Would these be people that we all consider to be logical and coherent? Because I personally was taught and believe evolution should be taught in schools. Christianity has is place and I dont think school is one of them.
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak HA so before moses came down with the commandments all the jews were just killing and stealing and lying band thought nothing of it. THEN moses said GOD said THOU SHALT NOT KILL. and everyone stopped killing and now they understood that killing one another was wrong. seriously? you beleive that. How do people in africa who havent ever heard of a bible or jesus survive without killing each other all the time.
philosophyman76 3 weeks ago
@philosophyman76 I can go into that argument, but it would be pointless because you should already know. I am not going to babysit you on this. God didn't say though shalt not push an old lady down the stairs... so why arent we pushing old ladies down stairs all day... seriously...
Your ONLY arguement is show me the evidence. I am telling you there is none, where do we go from here.
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak well with no evidence you go where you go with everything else you have no evidence for. Non-belief. Again evidence is a good reason to beleive something. To believe something with no evidence is just as good as saying I believe this for no good reason. and if you believe things for no good reason makes you unreasonable. In which case you and your beliefs should not be taken seriously by anyone else.
philosophyman76 3 weeks ago
@philosophyman76 That is a very good point, I like how you put me in a position where it is either show you undeniable proof of gods existence or declare myself a crazy person. And since I cannot show you proof, I am therefore insane and delusional.
I completely agree with your statement, everything there is true and logical. So please tell me why do I still believe in god and refer me to a therapist so I can get over this delusion and start living my life..
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak I didnt call U crazy. Lots of rational, good, sane people hold false beliefs. I used to beleive in hell, gods, heaven, dragons, and all kinds of stuff. as I searched and educated myself though I realized that all my reasons for believing these things were not valid. I just WANTED to beleive them or was scared not to beleive them. But I value truth vs feeling good. It feels nice to think of my family living in heaven 2gether. i just have no good reason to think thats the case
philosophyman76 3 weeks ago
@philosophyman76 It wont let me reply to your other post so ill say it here. You call me delusional for believing... But you dont understand how that removes credibly from other aspects of me.
All in all this comes down to one thing, always has and always will. You want evidence. I cant give it to you. There is NOWHERE we can go from there because even without evidence i still believe in god. So now you have to dismis me as a rational human being because my actions will be based on my beliefs.
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak How can anyone call you a rational human being? You might be rational in all other aspects of your life, but when it comes to your religious beliefs, you are by definition delusional and IRRATIONAL. This does not necessarily mean that you are a delusional human being in ALL aspects of your life. Just when it comes to your belief in a deity. You hold onto your belief knowing fully well that you cannot even provide evidence for that belief. Now you tell me how that is any bit of rational.
iz2sicc 4 days ago
@iz2sicc Yes, and a guy who is perfectly rational but believes there is a flying space monster in space is looked at as a completely rational persion who is only irrational in one aspect of his life? Stop dancing around semantics, either I am dellusional or I am rational, we cannot same I am dellusional and rational. We can say I am rational with a misconception, but the term "delusional" encompasses alot more in the public eye than you emphasis, and is condescending.
Mr2weak 4 days ago
@Mr2weak Theism at it';s best. all or nothing. You can absolutely be delusional about a belief and rational about others. I have friend who is totally rational and reasonable about everything except his hatred for barack obama. You cant get him to say one good thing that obama has done in 4 years. so i guess he's irrational and delusional about EVERYTHING in his life.
philosophyman76 4 days ago
@philosophyman76 Atheism is great as how it manages to completely remove any credentials anyone has regardless of there education simply because of there beliefs. Simply for the fact that I view the world differently than you you are now given the right to insult me, say I am delusional and say my opinion and ideas are irrelevant.
Do what you want but I wont continue to fuel your crusade against religion. When its dead and gone and the world is better off I am sure it wont be missed.
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak if some1 is short and you call them short and they get offended well I'm sorry your short. deal with it. I was very clear about what the word delusional meant and why I would consider you delusional with a belief that you have no evidence for. It's not a personal attack. I'm not attacking you I'm attacking your beleifs and trying to show you that you are making a case for something that isnt true. Just like if thought you were on fire and weren't. ur delusional abt that belief
philosophyman76 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak Some Atheists might attack you personally for your religious beliefs. Those are angry Atheists. Not all of us free-thinkers act in that manner. Believe what you want, but when you do things like comment about your beliefs on the Internet, expect to be criticized regardless of how valid your belief is. There is always a critic waiting to challenge you. The education point you bring up is the conundrum here. Many well educated people believe in God. This calls for questioning.
iz2sicc 4 days ago
@iz2sicc Who cares about being challenged? I relish the challenge? Athiest cannot say or do anything that I already do not know. They just present me with facts rearranged in a way they feel expresses there opinions best and hope that I am swayed.
For instance he keeps asking me what my evidence for god is.... What kind of question is that. He is taking what I already know and trying to reword and reiterate it in a way that he feels Should allow me to feel as he does. Epic Fails all around.
Mr2weak 4 days ago
@Mr2weak "Athiest cannot say or do anything that I already do not know. They just present me with facts rearranged in a way they feel expresses there opinions best and hope that I am swayed." This is kinda called being unreasonable and irrational when you go into a discussion saying nobady can say something that i don't already know. Really? 2nd evidence. if your going to say something exists then RATIONALLY the next question is why do you belief that? What evidence do you have 4 that belief.
philosophyman76 4 days ago
@iz2sicc No i am not doing this, I am not arguing with another atheist, sorry but this is a moot point we are all making. You have nothing to fight against my logic other than WITH my logic. Its so tiring...
Delusional is strongly believing in something despite superior evidence, so please present me with your "superior evidence" against gods existence or I will be forced to end this conversation. There is no way i will debate with someone who's INITIAL premise so so deeply flawed.
Mr2weak 4 days ago
@Mr2weak OK here is the evidence against god. Its a syllogism. P1Things that exist can either be measured, seen, tested, or demonstrated in some way. P2 God shows none of those properties, C God doesnt exist. give me superior evidence that gnomes dont exist. Superior evidence is not the only reason. believing something with no evidence is just as bad.
philosophyman76 4 days ago
@iz2sicc Here is an exerpt from C.S Lewis's book "God in the docks"
"An egg which came from no bird is no more natural than a bird that has existed for eternity. And since the egg-bird-egg sequence leads us to no plausible beginning, is it not reasonable to look for the real origin somewhere outside the sequence altogether? You look outside the sequence of engines to find the originator of the rocket. Is it not equally reasonable to look outside nature for the real originator of the world?"
Mr2weak 4 days ago
@Mr2weak this might be true if we didnt know where chickens and eggs evolved from and how they did. We don't look outside of chicken and eggs we look at the ancestors of chickens and how they worked and then when things change we renamed them chickens and eggs but there is nothing outside. and rockets are not natural or biological so that analogy is bad. two differnt things
philosophyman76 4 days ago
@philosophyman76 Ok mister smart guy since you want to talk smart to try to cover up that you have no clue what your talking about I will call you on it.
When was the first occurance of the egg, if so was it laid by a chicken or some kind of chicken ancestor, and how did said ancestor come into existence.
Mr2weak 4 days ago
@Mr2weak OMG you are sitting at a computer. It took me about 3 mintues to look up "egg evolution. Of course since you don't have an understanding of basic evolutionary theory you'll say where is the chicken. Eggs are not the product of chickens only. the chicken had a common ancestor with all the other classifications of species that layed eggs. but if you look up Amniote in wiki you will find the ancestor and the evolutionary tree that goes to all birds. lived abt 340 million years ago
philosophyman76 3 days ago
@Mr2weak if you want me to go through the entire evolutionary tree of every species that lives on the planet and all the species that proceeded them then this could take a couple of years. you do know there are people who dedicate their entire lives studying these things and dont just say GOD DUN IT. With the internet u can easily find their results and if you have evidence or can disprove evolution and all the evidence these ppl work to find then pls write a paper on it and win a nobel prize
philosophyman76 3 days ago
@philosophyman76 I was going to respond to this, but I really dont see the point. it was a bad analogy... fair enough. But it was very interesting to see your condescending retort since there was a very nicer, more intelligent and albeit EASIER way to say it.
For example you could have said "Well one day a reptile laid an egg that happen to have a hard shell and due to Darwinism this trait was passed on" but instead you chose to make me look stupid and blamed it on god... how interesting.
Mr2weak 3 days ago
@Mr2weak i'm sorry.
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak any is possible. that seems like a pretty clear statement. You just got finished saying it's possible for santa to not be deliverying gifts. I kinda put that in the far-fetched catergory with gods. Is it possible. yes and i repeat ANYTHING is possible.
ok so seen and touched I get as evidence. What do you mean by known that? like I know i exist? If that is you standard then god doesnt fit. bc he isnt any of those things. so you have to give me ur standard that god fulfills
philosophyman76 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak strange coincidences, dream, and acts of chance is your evidence of god??? So if I through some dice its an act of chance that it lands on a 5. So if it lands on 5 then god? Seems weak. dreams prove god? why? what is the correlation that I have a dream henceforth there is a god. i think what ur going towards the argument from ignorance. It goes like this. "I dont understand it therefore god." 1000 years ago you'd say god made that rainbow. now we know its just light and water
philosophyman76 3 weeks ago
@philosophyman76 PART3: Look this is pointless. Your asking me of evidence for god? THERE IS NO SUCH THING. So what do you want? Proof, THERE IS NO PROOF. So what are you asking for?
All your asking for is for evidence and standards for evidence, But there is no evidence? If there was you wouldnt be able to question his existence. So lets reach the point because I feel like I am going around in circles.
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak not proof, evidence. Different. Any evidence would be nice. A bible written by man that contradicts itself is hardly evidence of an all powerful being. a dear is dead and there are tracks. The tracks are evidence. Proof is when we have enough evidence to confirm that wolves killed the dear. So i just want some evidence. and if there is no evidence then why should i beleive what your saying?
philosophyman76 3 weeks ago
@philosophyman76
#1 - No anything is not possible, hence why I gave you my evidences afterwards... Keep up.
#2 - My "evidence have been given", If you putting rolling a dice in the same category as lucid dream of the future or a near death experience then your delusional.
#3 - 1000 years you said that if you put honey on a peice of meat and leave it outside you can create your own flies... we were all dumb 1000 years ago but your holding me accountable for it... funny.
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago
@philosophyman76
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak yes we are going in circles simply because you WANT to beleive something and thats fine but in order to have someone else beleive what you say you need to provide evidence. Unless it doesnt matter. If you tell me your name is steve I'd probably beleive you bc i have no reason not to. If you tell me your name is steve and you have magical powers and i should worship you and give you money. i would then ask for some evidence of that claim. its that simple and thats my "point"
philosophyman76 3 weeks ago
@philosophyman76 PART3: I feel as if this has gotten a little side tracked so let me try and bring this back to a place of reason.
I believe in god and you don't. You want evidence that causes me to believe, I know that no matter what I give it wont be sufficient because if it was you wouldn't be able to question gods existence. So I say "Just because you don't except my evidence doesn't mean it isn't sufficient evidence 'To Me'"....
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago

Mr2weak 3 weeks ago
@philosophyman76 PART2: You say on the same level as unicorns as if that is a bad thing. There is no contrary evidence to mythical animals, shit some people are still looking for the loch ness monster. And they will probably still be looking for it for another hundred years.
does the fact that all the evidence for the loch ness's existence doesn't meet standards for some people prove its non-existence. Of course not. Now am not saying that it does exist, but it is a good metaphor.
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago
@Mr2weak Again atheists just do not Believe in a god. I am not interested in Disproving everything the mind can create. Thats why the burden of proof is on the person making the claim. So when a someone claims there is a god. we ask why do you belief that?" You can believe in god or unicorn or loch ness but dont expect others too unless you can show evidence and don't tell people they're going to hell, shouldnt abort a fetus, should or shouldnt anything bc of that belief.
philosophyman76 3 weeks ago
@philosophyman76 You said it yourself, you just said it. We claim god exists, but we DONT expect you to belief it. You dont have to belief it. But we do, and if we do believe it then why cant we make an opinion about the subject? If you chose not to believe it then it has no application in your life. So why cant we believe what we want to believe?
I believe in god, Why cant I do that? What is wrong with it?
Mr2weak 3 weeks ago

Mr2weak 4 weeks ago
PART1: People look at the bible as the ULTIMATE PROOF of christianity. Not true, infact many older religious parts of christianity practice finding a connection with god on a personal level. Bash the bible all you want but it really means nothing. It is a symbol but not the captain. You can burn the flag but that doesnt signify destroying america.
The bible is meant to be used for reflection, yes there are contradictions because IT WAS WRITTEN BY A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT GUYS. But that is obvious.
Mr2weak 4 weeks ago
It is way too much of a hard read. My mind is wired in a way that if I am not interested in what Im reading, it will be impossible for me to follow. Add to that the fact that it's written in such an awful way, reading the bible becomes more of a chore than anything else. I did read through Genesis & stopped &religious people say my opinion on the bible is null unless I read it all. But I say once we have men made of clay, talking snakes, etc, how much more do I need to read to recognize it's BS?

Quick question? Who creates the interpretations? Man or God? And seeing as how you made a video all for me I guess I should make one for you as well.

@SLRok please rewatch 9:37 mark for your answer
philosophyman76 1 month ago
@philosophyman76 much like your "morality" 9:37 provides no real answers. God did NOT create the interpretations. Maybe since you don't remember a thing about what you read in the bible Revelation 22:19, the entire ministry of Jesus (in which he railed against pharisees adding to and reinterpreting the law) and many other examples in the bible where God condemns people for trying to change his word.
SLRok 1 month ago
@SLRok again watch the video. i give an exact example of how a simple sentence can be interpreted 6 different ways. So you tell me which way is "correct". That's my point. you keep saying god didnt make the interpretations.. Yeah no duh. there is no god. MY point is if there was a god he wouldnt say anything that could be interpreted any other way. So when 2 ppl read the same sentence and both come up with different meanings how do YOU determine who is right? Does god tell you?
philosophyman76 1 month ago
@philosophyman76 The correct way would be the intent of the speaker. Much like people who try to interpret the constitution to mean different things the real meaning lies in the intent of the writer/speaker. If you say something and you mean it a certain way then that is how it is to be not understood. Simple logic. And there is no way logically possible to say something that people wouldn't try to interpret into their own world view. Thats simply impossible. People interpret everything even
SLRok 1 month ago
@philosophyman76 past events and things that happen right in front of them into their own world view. One person may look at a homeless man and say "oh wow what a poor soul I wonder what misfortune befell him?", the next might say "oh that lazy bum needs to get up and find a job", the next might say he is a victim of socio-economic issues or what have you but the point is they all have interpretations on why he is homeless. People will interpret anything and everything into their own world view.
SLRok 1 month ago
@philosophyman76 How do you interpret the bible? You read what it says and understand the intent of the author. Its really how you would read any other book. I'm making a video right now to address the points you made in this video It should be ready soon, but I'm still getting the hang of iMovie.
SLRok 1 month ago
@SLRok everything you read, you interpret. Again you tell me what the sentence"I didnt see the man beat his dog" means "correctly". And when you say "understand the intent of the author" you do understand that what you THINK the intent of the author is IS YOUR INTERPRETATION.
philosophyman76 1 month ago
@philosophyman76 Unless I know the intent of the speaker I cannot tell you what the correct answer is. But of course I'm not THINKING anything I'm reading in plain words what the intent of the author is. Imagine how destructive of science, law and education this reasoning would be if applied to those fields. We could never know anything about anything because we'd be lost in an infinite regress of interpretation and reinterpretation.
SLRok 1 month ago
@philosophyman76 Any statement without proper CONTEXT and MEANING is in effect meaningless. That is a simple piece of logic that I think we all can understand. Why do you think people complain about the "sound byte" world where a few sentences taken out of context and played repeatedly can be used to shape popular opinions of people.
SLRok 1 month ago
@SLRok so if I hand some1 the bible who has no knowledge of god or christainity how would they know how to interpret the bible??? they don't know the context or the meaning. they just have the words. And guess what thats for EVERY book. What are you talking about. how do you KNOW the meaning of what an author is saying before you read WHAT THEY ARE SAYING? so you make up what u want to read b4 you read aka interpreting. If you know what god means b4 you read his words WHY READ THE WORDS?
philosophyman76 1 month ago
@philosophyman76 Before I read Shakespeare, Marx, or any other book I had no clue about them or what they said, yet and still I understand the intent of those writers. How? I read the words. When Marx says religion is a tool of the bourgeois to oppress the proletariate thats exactly what he means. I don't have to read my own worldview into that. When I read that Caesars last words were "et tu Brute" right before Brutus plunged the last knife into him that I don't have to interpret that.
SLRok 1 month ago
@philosophyman76 I'm not going to question wether or not that knife was actually a knife or a nerf dart. I got the context and meaning of the words contained in the book by READING THE BOOK. When ever have you known what someone means before they speak? Obviously you won't walk up to a book and have knowledge of it BEFORE you read it. Why bother going to college or even reading if you have that skill? I'm saying you will get the intent and the meaning when you read. Before I read the bible I
SLRok 1 month ago
@philosophyman76 didn't know alot of what it said. But once I read it I understood the meaning and the intent. Same with any other book. In your example of the 1 phrase that can be read 6 ways you are correct with no proper context or intent words are in effect meaningless. But once the speaker says "this is my intent, of when you listen to him say it and you hear how he says it" then any and every person and their interpretation is nullified.
SLRok 1 month ago
