Who cares how they fare in a crash !!, i have owned a 3 door cossie for 19 years now, and absolutely love driving it !!. They are a legend and give many owners great pleasure.... Cotton wool safety is bollocks !... ONE LIFE, LIVE IT !!!
@0235681956 because the crappy Scenic that ran into my lovely car wasn't mine (I didn't take a part in the accident, so I wasn't at the time of this event). from what I know the Scenic had front bumper damaged, air bags were activated
@0235681956 I doubt the Scenic had anywhere near the same damage, Sierra's were very, very weak cars and they rotted really badly which of course only made matters worse!
ive crashed with a very good condition 1984 1.6 sierra, we crashed into the rear of an opel , our front was totaled and the opel had a couple of dents
@cooolcars What? When it was released it was considered a safe car in its class. The only change the sierra got over the years was a facelift. The mechanicals/structure of the car were never changed.
my dad bought a sierra 1.6 LX back in 1989 brand new and he had nothing but troubles with it.
in the first 2 yrs it had 8 new gearboxes one of which was rebuilt and still had the trouble after the rebuild. The driver front tyre came clean off the rim only to find out the rim had been poorly made. the electrics once failed failed once. we still have it but its now rotting on the drive way lol
In the USA, the Ford Sierra and the Ford Scorpio were offered under the failed Merkur brand. The Sierra was imported as a three door only, and called the XR4Ti (similar to sub-model designations in other markets). The Sierra name was not used by Ford in the US; the market had already seen the similar-sounding Oldsmobile Ciera, and the Sierra name was used by General Motors Corporation from the 1970s as a trim level on its pickup trucks.
@blondie78 the sierra wos mainly a europiean car. i dont think the usa ever got it. the best sierra wos the xr4x4 thay wer a beast. but yeah i dont think the usa ever had them. sad really thay wer quiet good nomater what other people say.
@newenglander2009 The Sierra was a very popular car in the 80s and early 90s here in europe. Especially the "hot" XR4i or the even more powerful 16V RS Cosworth (220 hp). Btw, the shape was inspired by the Porsche 928 - form your own opinion if the attempt was successful...
In the US, Ford SIERRA never actually had a good run. The XR4Ti is totally obscure and underrated there even though it is an awesome car, and way ahead of it's time.In Europe, Ford Sierra is one of the best cars ever. Ford Sierra RS Cosworth whooped a lot of ass in rally races in the '80s and some of the '90s. Ford replaced it with the Mondeo(Contour in the US ). I have an XR4Ti that I'm trying to restore it and enjoy it and my dad has a Mk1 Mondeo . Really good, solid cars.
It's a ford sierra. It's the mother of the escort basically. I'm not sure if it was sold in America or not but it was sold here in the UK. My mum had a 2.0 litre ghia. The top of the line model!
@SinclairisCool thanks for the comment - I don't believe we ever saw this model here in the USA - as stated above we did get the 2dr contour which I believe came after this model. We seem to miss out on some good Ford vehicles here.
This Crash is with about 80 km/h because of 2 Days her in Switzerland have a present of 3 divrend hours speed onc with 30km/h the second with 60km/h and the driver area i also small pass with 90 km/h of 80km/h is beginn the place area from driver to knick -over .
renault vs scenic its a myth renalts arent as good in crashes there ok but not perfect as they make out, this sierra has hit more than a scenic more like the scenery ie tree wall who knows lol renault yeh ok lol.
well the sierra was designed 30 years ago, its not going to fare well against something 20 years newer. don't care, I still love my sierra. If I want to have a crash I use the volvo
i don't believe that..there are reliable and unreliable vehicles..the sierra has good reliability because of it's mechanical simplisity...my 1.6 GL has almost no high tech electronic componets
speed was about 50~60 km/h by sierra and scenic ~30-40 km/h (scenic was turning left on a crossroad)
my wife has been hurt (small scratches from broken glass, lots of bruises, broken pelvis bone = 2 month staying in bed) , people from scenic I think they had been only in some shock (they had airbags)
Did he survive
RacingKing012 2 months ago
Went into a ditch at 40mph sideways in one of these Sierra's. Hurt like hell, but I winched the car out and it still drove.

ah yeh. but many people say the mk1 sierra was really bad when it crashed
cooolcars 1 year ago
@cooolcars well it was one of, if not the first production car to incorperate crumple zones into its design, so it can't be all bad.
