What a classic opening with that sponsor ad...I remember "Chevrolet" being their sponsor, & seeing Darrin & Samantha riding on the broomstick. I still have the final MASH episode on video from 1983, (first run from CBS), when the program was sponsored by "Chevrolet".
Oscar Mayer & Co. became one of the new "alternate" sponsors of the show in the fall of 1969, after General Motors' Chevrolet division and Quaker Oats pulled out after the first five seasons [Bristol-Myers' Clairol division later became another "alternate" sponsor, as did Eastman Kodak for a brief period]. Incidentally, there was usually a "teaser" scene setting up the episode's plot inbetween Liz's "Color" I.D. and the opening title.
EEEKS! I love this rare opening(I have ABC TV network 16mm film prints with it), but I cannot take Liz Montgomery's pronounciation of the word "COLOR." Liz say "Collah"(like a dog coller). Another reason to loathe the post Dick York episodes.
Good, yesterday, I decided to splash out and buy the 1st 3 seasons on DVD at my local HMV for only 29.99 Euro's each! Not bad huh? This show has me hooked! I LOVE ''Gladys Kravitzs''!
I don't think that they are. The practice ended in the early 70's if I am not mistaken. In fact, this clip was one of the last ones done, as I said, if I am not mistaken, so rest assured, I think they will not be on the DVD's.

Really-the MASH movie from February 28, 1983?
What else do you remember from the final episode's original broadcast in commercials?

Dick Sargent was alright, but he's no match for Dick York! His facial expressions alone made him a star!
DICK YORK....the REAL Darrin Stephens!

Dick Sargent was originally cast to play Darrin Stephens back in 1964 - but he was involved in another project, so Dick York was tapped.
I do agree that York was a better Darrin, though...

A nice clip of days gone by. Good to see that some masters with the original advertisers still exist.

I hate those cheap and sleazy adverts the integrated into the opening credits, hope those aren't on the DVD's.
