i didnt have any brown sugar or nutmeg, so i just used white sugar and pumpkin spice and the cinnamon. worked great, i even used alittle sour cream to ensure moistness.
hello i just wanted you to know i made those yesterday and wow it is very yummy , i had and still having great compliments on it. thanks again.. I didnt have any nutmeg si i used pumpking spice and also the cinnamon, and great flavor. I also found it's really good chilled. Anyone that wants to mail that to someone like i am going to freeze it first .
I wonder if you could put cinnamon. brown sugar, some chopped nuts and sliced apples in the pan before the batter and bake it like a pineapple upside down cake?
Looks wonderful ! I'm gonna make this. I was wondering tho...why is it that some people use sugar-free applesauce? Is it because it's too sweet with the regular applesauce? Or is it a texture thing? Thanks and your cake looks great !! ; )) Smiles and waves ;))))
@ohpineapples I used unsweetened b/c it is what I had...I usually only buy it b/c it's sweet enough and I don't need the extra calories! Thanks, hope you enjoy it.
Well I used your recipe and made a small change. I soaked my raisins overnight in rum, before i made it , and dusted the top with a little powdered sugar. OMG, it was fabulous !!!
@truthtone58 I have noticed that some recipe sites, include a butter rum sauce you can pour over, I like this videos recipe because it doesn't use nuts.
Well, mace comes from the nutmeg so I'm not sure if you can use that either?? I'm sure you can just leave that out...the allspice is pretty strong and the cinnamon is great too.
Two years later and I still love this recipe!

Hi Angie, I cannot use nutmeg in my baking, but I love the flavor, is there another spice that I can use as a sub? mace, maybe?
