i saw a bright light moving very slowly yesterday night. the weather was beautiful and i was on the phone when i looked up to see this object and it was getting brighter. then it slowly dimmed itself, all the time it was moving, slow. the best part is- UK airspace was and still is restricted because of the volanic ash in iceland :o lucky me

I have never ever in my life known any Scottish person set off "chinese lanterns" into the sky - they seem to use this excuse now instead of the old "weather balloon excuse" for frigs sake - and if every ufo sighting in Scotland is a chinese lantern then there must be a wee clan somewhere that believes in setting these off co's as I say I know no one who does this. Question - can a chinese lantern fly down and then at an angle fly back up. If yes ... okay... but emmm think not.

Seen the same thing over Scarborough on Aug 12th around 11:30pm

Same size,bright red with yellow centre and at a similar height and no sound travelling North-South. Have seen ISS several times and this thing was five or six times bigger!

Yes dipshits, its the Space Station. Its as bright as Venus and moves in that exact same fashion. What you saw was a 5 minute flyover of it. Its inclination brings it over Scotland.

My satellite orbit tracker tells me that that truly is the ISS International Space Station !

it was clearly visible over Scotland on July 3d between 1:18 UTC and 1:23. then again in the same night at 2:53 UTC and again 4:28.

I can tell you when you spotted it it appeared to the south and travelled "across Europe" to disappear to your East-SE. (in a few words, over Ukraine)

Guess what - something overlaps the space earth travels...its called Heaven and man is it bigger than the light you just saw. They go in and out and move swifter than lightning. Freaky when they are in front of you and not on a tv screen. No one will believe you though if you tell them in person.

Speed is relative. Looks about right to me for ISS. It is very bright. It very much looks like a plane coming head on with landing lights ablaze. But that is the only likeness to a plane (lights on it do not exist). Sometimes has an orangey tint to its reflected light. Can't miss it when it's bright (can be > -2.5!) but don't expect to see any detail, it's too bright. When it's not and you will make out shape and detail (good binocs or scope and steady hands or base).

Not leaving much of a vapor trail, is it? And the almost phosphorus hue of the object, that glow it was emitting, was an awful lot like the one I saw.

I can't see a satellite holding that hue If a satellite was low enough to leave a trail, she would be heating up in a hurry. The color would change. You know, even if they don't help us, and the neo-cons win, It is still good to know that life continues beyond this floating asylum. :)

Well, that's not ISS for sure. I see every morning the ISS. It's a very bright light in the sky that shines a little brighter than a planet, has no colour changing and moves very very slow, not at the speed you present here. I just dont understand why you filmed it in front of a screen... and what a big screen you have!! Hugs and hope you explain that part.

Saw the exact same thing about 3 nights ago here in Central California. It was bright like that and it was low. My friend said it was a satellite and I told him that satellites don't fly that slow and aren't that low and not that bright. My other friend said WTF is that and we all looked up and there it was, just like this video.

Did you check to see if the ISS was overhead? Believe it or not, with the panels fully extended it can be this bright depending on atmospheric conditions.
