I just hated this game, i still remember hitting the post so often.... I had bought a 64 couple week, then whent to a friend houses to discover the playstation ONE with thie epic NHL 98. I was just out of the snes serie with no computer and its blown my fucking head off... I was like WTF I have a 64!?! ... Went this fucking Breakaway came out i saw it like hope at the end of the tunnel. BUT THIS GAME IS SHIT! Sold the 64 and bought PS with NHL 99! Yeah!

I played EA's games before and after I picked up this but it just holds a special place in my hockey heart ever since I first tried it for a few minutes in a game store and then bought it a few weeks later. So much fun that it's crazy.

my favourite part of this game was the announcements that the announcer would sometimes make during the game;

"Ladies and gentlemen we have a lost child named Chandler at the concession stand, if you are chandler's parent or guardian please report to the concession stand by the south entrance." And then they would play random jingle songs while playing like "when the saints come marching in" epic game.

This game was totally awesome... except when you realize how easy it is to score. Just go on a breakaway, when you're at the right of the net, hold down for a slapshot and drift to the left of the net then let it go. (If I remember it correctly). At least it's somewhat more realistic than NHL 99, where when playing against the CPU you'd look at their stats and it would say "Shots, 33. One-Timers, 31"

The best part of the game was the glitches though.

its weird how da same game for N64 and ps1 look slgihtly differnt, like the menu screen, when the song starts, and the logos arent as 3d and moving like the ps1. this looks like a pretty cool game for its time, although the music gets annoying.

lol okay if u want to score easy heres what u do, u skate up the sideboards, take a hard turn towards the slot, skate across the slot backwards, the goalie will always dive, u have an empty net... enjoy
