I kept hearing about this but didn't entirly believe it. Certainly sounds the same. Was it ever confirmed that it was Wilhelm? I heard there was some controversy about that. Years ago I ran a studio and some guys wanted me to scream on the last track of their CD. I declined because I was afraid that would be the one thing I'd become known for. Thankfully I'm still a nobody :)

We use the Wilhelm scream in our movie "Know Thy Neighbor" when a dude gets hit by a car. We're going to make it a point to try to use it as much as we can from now on.

that's just it. it's such a good cue for the VISUAL FALL or VISUAL PAIN that you don't even realize it sounds nothing like the voice actor. it doesn't sound like ANY of the characters that it comes up with. Since the making of this video it has been used in other pictures aswell. There are certain original and pioneering foley sounds that foley-artists enjoy throwing in as an homage or tribute to their importance.
