  • Great work! Thank you!

  • Hi, i have a 10 weeks old english bulldog female. We have her for over 1week now . She is teething but we got her lots of special toys for it. The problem i have with her is that she is becoming agressive and biting my arms or feet instead of her toys. By her side is toys but she jumps to bite me and doesnt let go, then she gets angry and bites and jumps at me in agression. What should I do with her please.? Thank you so much

  • i have a GSD dog and she was really trainned and then got out of pratic because i was being lazy with her. now she thinks that she is much smarter than me and no longer looks to me for my approvel long story short her Tunnle Vison is awful if she sees a squrril or whatever i have littlery no contorl! she stops listeing help!!!!!!

  • I always thought it was a bad thing to make eye contact with a dog. I thought it was being confrontational and the dog might attack you. I've always avoided looking dogs in the eyes.

  • i just got a 1 year old german sherpherd do u think i can still train him becuz when he sees me he get excited and starts to jump on me. what kind of treats do you give your dog

  • German Shepherd like mine

  • did you call it "Puppy" or "Babby" or what?

  • I've done this successfully because of your video! Only difference is, I say 'look', instead of his name.

  • After searching dozens of training videos I found yours. Great job on them

    Thank you

  • Cliker are for women? Nowadays nor cliker nor words work for women

  • clicker , lol - clicker are for women, use ur voice !

  • I'm bringing a siberian husky puppy home with me in three weeks. I can't wait to teach her this trick. I never did it with her mama, but she listened to me anyway. :) Her mama lives with my mom, so I only had the chance to teach her to "sit", "lie down", and "up"(which is what some people call sit pretty where she kinda stands on her hind legs with her nose in the air :P) before I moved away. I can't wait to train this puppy! :)

  • I love these videos, helping me do much with my new puppy Rogue.

  • My dog has an issue with eye contact with strangers. For example, if a stranger come to visit our home, she is wary, but the situation is made worse if the person stares at her. She becomes more frightened and aggitated. I know this is a threatening thing for a dog and therefore instruct visitors to not stare at her... but its difficult to not stare at a dog that is barking at you!

Do you think using this kind of clicker training to create a positive association with eye contact would help?

  • -_- can you do it with an untrained dog ur dog is alr trained

  • @charicebiggestfan He's showing exactly what he did to train his dog. There are a couple of videos done with a completely untrained dog. One of them was the "leave it" command which is very helpful. :)

  • i have 3 girls that wondfull and 1 male dog that is Pain in the bum he makes narsty sound to every dog that go buy my dad lets him off lead with out muzzle but im to scared let him of muzzle but he never bite another dog just makes a narsty sound ?? help ?

  • my dog is very hyper when we are going out and wen i let him go ournd its takes ouers to catch him. tips?

  • @lurifaksguten 20-30 foot training leash. A must have until your dog reliably comes when called.

  • A pretty different...question :O

    ....

What are your views on "Marley and me" movie ?

I don't really think I'd get a reply to this one but I'd be really happy if I get one :3

  • Is two months too young? My shepherd/mix puppy with either leave, look at something else, or scratch himself instead despite showing him food or treats.

  • Need some advice badly. I have the most timid puppy in the known galaxy. I've taught him the "off" command which he got quickly. He also sits and walks on the leash well. However, he will not make eye contact with me. He will watch the treat move around but as soon as it goes to my eye level he looks away and waits for me to do whatever with it. Any advice would be wonderful.

  • theoretical question: what if the dog like ATTACKS your face for the treat??

  • I want you to train my dog so bad! :D Great video, keep it up!

  • what are you clicking? What are the best treats to have when training them

  • i recently got a 6 week old puppy and im currently trying to train him but i dont know where to start or even when to start any tips or suggestions?

  • i want those clickers

  • where do you buy one of those clickers

  • @BaByDiMpPlEsZ pet smart

  • @BaByDiMpPlEsZ You can use a pen. I never can find clickers.

  • @BaByDiMpPlEsZ you can get them at the pet store however a snapple lid will work just the same.

  • @BaByDiMpPlEsZ at any pet shop were you buy the food or online

  • whats your dogs name?

  • How to make your dog that calm? When I tried this on our puppy (3 months old) she went after the food no matter where it was. When I place my hand in front of my face my dog just jumped to reach it. She was over excited. How to solve this problem?

  • how is he making the click sound?

  • In my opinion, the first step is only confusing - you're teaching her to look at the food, not the eyes, no matter where you hold it. That's not necessary because most dogs will look at you directly without food - and if they don't, there are other tricks to archieve it (making interesting sounds, throwing a handful food on the floor and the dog will look up expecting more, etc). Anyway, this method will work too and I really like your videos! Greetings from Austria

  • yeah its easy to train a german sheperd.... come train my dumb dog.

  • Addictionjs:

The clicking thing is called a clicker, and it marks good behavior.

  • hey...ur videos r very interesting...but wats dat clicking thing? n y do u use it? do u use it evry time u interact wiv ur dog?

  • hey m8... i ve just had a Greek shepherd its about 1 month.... and i ve just started t train him.. What should i do if i dont wanna use a clicker??? And is it ok to start training my dog so soon? any answer will be helpful

  • another good vid thanks.

  • What if theyre not interested in the food?

  • when training a dog what is a clicker used for?

  • Hersh94 when the dog goes for your hand bring it back quickly and say ouch!!!

Try and try again until the dog takes it calmly.

  • Hey, I just adopted an 5 yr Old Alaskan Malamute. I need a lot of help I can barely walk him because he pulls and jumps. Where would you suggest to start with the basic obedience training? It's very difficult to control such a large dog that has had very little socialization. Hope you can help : )

  • Do you always use a clicker or do you sometimes use the word yes? Is it good to use both or just one?

  • my puppy bites my hand when I hold a treat =( help?

  • that is incredible

  • Can u make a tutorial on how to make a dog growl on command?? :)

  • I just got a irish setter puppy 2 months old and I have never trained a dog before. My question is this I noticed that in some of your videos you use a clicker, if you use a clicker is that just an aid in teaching the dog or when you want the dog for example to look you into the eyes like in this video you click. Do I need the clicker in order to teach my dog commands and tricks or I can do without it?

  • oh man, u r such a genious, great video

  • @tab289 did you do a video on how to train your dog to go to bed? by the way nice vids. i use them to train my german shepard as well

  • hey could you tell me what was the clicking thing

  • Who's apprentice? Tab is much better than TDW. Tab uses kind methods and doesn't contradict himself, unlike some trainers. I teach the same kind reward method using clicker, you get better results and the dog learns because he wants to learn, not because he has to. This is a big difference in dog training. YOU earn the dog's respect, not the other way round.

    Keep it up Tab

    Darren, Contented Canines (UK)

  • You are....the dog whispererrrrrr aprentice cool videos!!!

  • how can i train my puppies jumping its like newly born

  • i would love to know what does that click mean ?

  • your videos are very useful, thank you so much

  • How many treats and what kind of treats should I give my dog.. I just used about 30 treats in 10 minutes with this method.. money shredder. Should I just use kibble to train him?

  • ermm im havin a problem, i have a 4 month kangal whenever i bring the biscuit up to my eyes and say his name he does look me in the eyes howver when i dont actually have a biscuit and prtend to bring it up he just keeps watching my hand to make sure theres a biscuit. what should i do, unless theres a biscuit involved he wont respond, and sumtimes he just gets bored and trys to run off and play lol

  • What is the benifit of the clicker? I see so many trainers use it, why?

  • @MizBlueEyed its not the clicker itself. its just the sound it makes. the click sound tells the dog a treat is coming because he did well. you could do pretty much the same thing with your voice, by just saying YES! or something, but a clicker will always sound the same and anyone can use it. Tab mentions this in one of his videos.

  • @MizBlueEyed

it is a marker for the dog so he/she knows exactly which behavior is being rewarded.

you basically have 2 seconds to click the right behavior...so you have to be quick

  • @MizBlueEyed They're right, and add to that, the perfect timing of the clicker

  • I love you vids dude.!

  • Quick question? How do you teach a dog to play dead? I have a 2 year old boxer and so I have taught him many things but playing dead isn't in his dictionary haha he's done it only 2 times. It's kinda weird, too....so do you have a video on teaching a dog how to play dead?

  • I have a question though, how do you train a dog to be obedient without treats? My dog responds well to my commands, but only if I have a treat. Sometimes in real life situations I don't always have a treat though. She won't pay much attention to me at all if she sees that my hands are empty and that I don't have a bag with treats or a clicker, because clicker means treats =P.

    Great vids by the way!

  • @pesuhiir Good question. Part of it is being prepared and working to create success in a variety of situations, and part of it is about being unpredictable and surprising your dog with rewards when they least expect them. A lot to be said on this topic, so I will probably do a video on it in the near future.

  • @tab289 i've started to train my Frenchy 'indoor', where she performs quite well but, everytime we go 'out' she simply gets too distracted and i can't seem to even get her interested in the treats (i've chosen 4 types which i'll be using randomly)!

    Am i rushing things?

    Thx

  • @pesuhiir Great question, and I want to add to tab289's answer. You're likely attaching the verbal cue to your command too soon. As you see, tab289 starts training with a treat in hand but moves to an empty hand when the dog is ready. If you attach your verbal cue (sit, down, etc.) while you still need to show her the treat, she will always want to see the treat before doing what's asked.

Start using the verbal command only after you can get the dog to comply using an empty hand.

  • @pesuhiir ur dogs like madd work for a treat -_t-_-

  • i just got german puppy and i'm going to train him by my own :) he's very cute :)

love your videos there reaaaaly helpful :) thank u so much :)

oh and he's just 1 month old i brough him home today and he's realy sad and his sleeping all day long. is it normal?

  • @daneliaa Sounds about right!

  • @tab289 he was only 4 weeks when you brought him home? :(

  • O_O, these videos are fantastic! :D Great job.

  • @daneliaa You brought your German Shepherd home when it was only 1 month old? I think that is too early to be away from his/her Mother and littermates. 6-8 weeks is usually when you should bring them home. I hope you socialized him thoroughly and you are both doing well. BTW, I have a 6 month old female German Shepherd. I brought her home when she was 7 weeks old.

  • @daneliaa 1 month old?! Thats not a good age to bring a puppy home. But good luck training. You choose a great breed.

  • @daneliaa 1 month is too young to be seperated from it's mum, 8 weeks is the legal minimum in some parts of the world.

  • Great tutorial, men u are great explaning stuff. Its working great with my border collies.

  • This is a good job man.... Awesome and simple.. keep up the good work!

  • Very good, I'll definitely try this with my dog I'll get next year. :)

One question: If I learn my dog this, can I use it while learning other commands or will it just confuse him? For example the "come here" command. If I say like "Justin, come here" will he (after learning the command) come whenever I just say his name or "come here" only when I use BOTH "Justin and "come here"?

    Thanks!

  • @1992GamerGirl Dogs are pretty good at figuring out what we mean. It's hard to say but usually after learning this cue, the dog mostly offers eye contact. You would still need to teach 'come' and it won't be confusing for him/her. The more we teach, the better dogs become at understanding us.

  • Can you give me some general tips or steps of any sort to help me with training? Im about to get a german shepherd puppy and i want to train it and this will hopefully be my first trained dog

  • How long would you say you should limit each training session to? I have a new 1 year old shelter dog. She's very smart, but I don't want to overdue each session and burn her out on training. Any suggestions? I love your videos, and after a single day am already getting great results on eye contact and staying. And thanks for getting the C. Milan stuff out of my head.

  • @thewall4 Great question! In the beginning I find it best to have short training sessions, anywhere from 2-10 minutes depending on the dog. Feel free to have multiple sessions throughout the day. A good time to quit is while your dog is getting it right and wants to continue! This way, when you come back to it later, they will pick up with all the enthusiasm you left them with.

  • We're picking up our new pup tomorrow and this (and housetraining!) are going to be the first things we teach.

  • I was going to ask you. In one of your videos you dropping treats on the floor. Do you think by doing that the dog turns his attention from you to picking things up off the floor ? Do you ever use the treat between the lips, or hidding the treat in your mouth ? Spitting it out to the dog for good contact. if they catch it they can have it, if they miss it, they dont get it.

  • @eddyskelpies I have tried that method before. The problem that I had with it was that Solea started to get used to 'catching' the treat out of the air really fast, and would grab it from your hands with her best crocodile impression - so we stopped doing that to encourage her to take it gently. I find that I can teach eye contact better by throwing it onto the floor, and ONLY releasing her to get it once we have made & held eye contact. When she wants something off the floor, she looks at me!

  • Another great video with your lovely dog. Great girl she is. Keep up the good work.

  • I've tried this method without any success at all. Have you got any more tips for weaning off the "stare at food" part that this seems to encourage? I use the frustration method of holding food out of reach, making a subtle (or not, depending on the dog) sound, then clicking when they glance at me. It works very well, but I know lots of people who would prefer to use this lure method if I could figure out how to wean off the lure!

  • @hdsheena Yes, I find it works well to make a sound and click for eye contact. To wean off the lure, at first it's common to have to be very patient and wait the dog out.... but once they do understand, you can use it in conjunction with other cues to instill the idea further. Also, the more hidden the treats are (e.g. in the pocket), the more eye contact becomes obtainable.

  • Ur AWESOME!!!!!! :)

  • Can you make us a tutorial on how to use their inside voice? I saw the trick on a video of Zak George ( a dog trainer) on youtube. It like teaching your dog that when he/she is inside thier bark is softer or something like that. Great vids! Bye~

  • @secretadmierer Thanks for the idea!

  • I have a GSD and when we go for walks, he circles around me. I'm assuming it's from his herding instinct, but I was wondering if your GSD does the same thing?

  • @crypticprowler She does sometimes, especially if I have her tennis ball!

  • Thank you for uploading this video. It'll come in handy for me with my 3 dogs. Beautiful dog. squince

  • Another excellent video! Many thanks for posting these. I have learned quite a bit form them.

  • cooooooooool

  • i love your videos and share them on my facebook wall, lol :)

i like the closeups, it gives a feeling that you are talking directly to the viewer one on one, not as a teacher or instructor in front of a class as so many youtube instructors do by standing back and walking around.

    keep up the good work!

  • great tutorial!!:D
