All of the iPod touches and iPhones have built-in speakers. 32GB can hold one of 3 things: 7000 songs, 25,000 photos, or 40 hrs of video, only if you don't put anything else on. So its up to you...

If you think jailbreaking at the moment is worth it, then I would stick with the 1st gen. If you like the app store's free apps and you want an O.K. speaker then you can stick with the 2nd gen. 2nd gen cannot be jailbroken.

yeah the new one is awesome, i like the external speakers with the nice volume control on the outside, but to me those are the only features that seem new to me, if there are any other new features please let me know, thanks!

the only differences are the integrated Nike+ reciever, the different design on the back and the volume. Those are the only differences that I'm aware of

for some reason i still like the old one better, because I just like the way it feels in my hand, when i held the new one i couldn't get a good grip on it, i like the flat back a lot better then a bubble back, it makes it seem thinner also. just my preference
