  • 17.000 woohoo

  • Soulless glass and steel towers built for soulless, mindless parasites by tens of thousands of underprivileged nobodies. The desert swallows you whole.

  • some money got invested...some buildings where built in a good for noting desert...lot of ppl got fooled and bought them before they were even built...original investors (like Donald Trump) toke all the money from over priced, non built "buildings" and now Dubai is back to being a desert...get over it!

  • maybe this show is chat (on hold or frozen project)

i dont see any problems with dubai everything works in plans and there is tiny percent of projects they put it on hold

not the burj as we see in 4:36 btw the burj finished months ago also to the palm, metro ect ..

and the economic crises isnt issue for us iran is the problem they got power and nucluers and they are near to this modern city what would happen to uae if iran send one nucler bomb to dubai

  • Economic crisis is a big issue for Dubai, because you don't produce anything in Dubai, Dubai doesn't manufacture anything, grow anything, or drill for oil. There is only a limited demand for finance and other services like retai and tourism and retail at the end of the day we all want things not services. What Dubai has going for it is law and order, it will be very easy for Dubai too move to manufacturing.

  • ok im with you , but if dubai cant stay on this crisis abudhabi can buy it but as i said there is no big issue becuase there is plans to send the big manufactures to dubai also there is plans to buys some of cars manufactures in europe becuase as i know dubai and saudi arabia bought already more than 20% of them and dont forget microsft and big factorys and also gold ..

there is no fear to dubai we just need 10 years more because the projects almost finshed now we need the manufactures.

  • thats not important, since the formation of the united arab emirates, leaders agreed that dubai will only be the business and cultural hub of uae and there was not even 1 plan brought to the table to industralize dubai. however, Abu Dhabi the capital city of the united arab emirates is a business, industrial and a cultural hub. billions of dollors are spent in abu dhabi industrial zones like khalifa port, mussafah, shahamah, liwa etc. I even as a uae citizen can get a factory from the goverment

  • without paying a cent. also items made in uae is availible everywhere throughout the middle east, go to your local mall in america, go to gap, jcpenny and look around

you will see lot of clothing items that are made in UAE

  • I once heard, "Without drugs, there is no economy" I thought that was just hippie talk. But low and behold. After being obsessed with Dubai for the past year, it finally hit me. I just searched for Dubai drug laws.....And something VERY interesting came up. Apparently any MINUTE amount of ANY type of drug, and your ass is grass. Coke dreams of a real life Cocaine City vanished like a mirage in a desert.......

  • Do you seriously think that you would be able to snort coke in Dubai? What planet do you live on ? Or is your mind so scrambled from drugs?

  • Dubai was a bubble , and like any bubble, it was looking for a bubble to bring it back to reality! Mises said that during a bubble, the misleading inflationary policies of the governing bodies often misalocate resources far away from the sectors where they are primarily needed, which in turn drives malinvestments! Dubai's case was the excessive real estate development in comparison to the other sectors of the economy! Clearly, the local government and banking structure are to be blamed!

  • How do people in Dubai get around? Dubai needs a total mobility solution. A company. Everything from buses, to ferries, to metros, to commuter trains, or whatever is needed, you name it. I never hear about mobility in the city. Dubai needs to have good mobility. Such a huge city can't rely on cars alone. Think about NYC and you'll see my point.

  • Its all in planning and much of it is already actually in development. Dubai is growing at a rate that is so fast that these things almost cant keep up with it, for the time being. The financial struggles of people and businesses investing in Dubai is the greatest threat to it. Dubai is still very much a work in progress, in terms of the infrastructure, business, marketplace, and clearly raw construction to boot. These challenges wont ruin it unless they ruin everyone else

  • I'm no economist and this is only one mans speculation and opinion, but it seems like to me one of the reasons Dubai is doing so poorly is they want everything built yesterday. Slow and steady wins the race, but with Duabi everything has to be built right then and there, and I don't think any city in any economy booming or otherwise can support such rapid growth. Some of the ideas dreamed for dubai look quite incredible, but I think they will remain just that dreams.

  • Yeah they have all of those workers needing activity, they got a lot of people to buy in, but had to make a lot of promises, so now they have to balance all of that

  • Fools and their money were parted. Thats all.

  • Dubai and UAE more over was a bubble. The only reletively real economy in the Gulf is either KSA because of their size and Oman and Yemen since their dependence on oil is limited.

  • In terms of oil trading or what? Dubai is speculation but because of a lot of the construction and agreements in place it will be a real economy soon. Yes they have no raw materials to trade, but where will those materials be tradded in the future. For many it makes great sense for that to happen in Dubai, and the infrastructure that will be there will reinforce that decision.A lot of this may still go through, its hard to think that all of it will fail, if much of it happens, Dubai will be fine

  • This professor is full of it. Dubai was built on the bubble of the U.S. and the fools that believed that property prices would rise forever around the world. La la land is no more, but when oil prices reach historic prices again in the future after the dollar crashes, there will be a niche Dubai will fill for the MNC's and oil co.'s that need to do biz in the ME.

  • rohr808: When you hear about an economist from the World Bank or IMF speaking, be prepared for a tornado of lies about economic prosperity. There is a book explaining everything these economists did to Dubai, its called "Confessions of an Economic Hitman"

  • to muslims:

brothers and sisters, it doesnt matter how powerfull your economy is, whether in dubai or afghanistan or saudi arabia or kuwait, can any of you avert death when it comes to you? no. if you live in the worlds tallest building in dubai or in a small apartment down the road can you turn death away ? no. pls follow the Quran in this transient life, where no amount of pleasure or pain lasts forever, to enjoy the eternal one next.

    Sallam

  • Little known fact; Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum of Dubai has been forced to sell Emirates Airlines to Sheikh Nahyan of Abu Dhabi to pay off some of Dubai's debts.

This is true. You might not find many sources confirming it at the moment but when the full extent of Dubai's problems begins to emerge over the coming months this will become public.

  • As a muslim I don't much care if Dubai or UAE collapses or whatever happens to it. It is a nice place for the very rich, man made heaven I would say, built by the poor south asian/african laborers living in horrific condition (modern day slavery). It is a hell for poor muslims working there as laborers and heaven for the shiekhs and westerners living there. Who cares if it fails.

  • they could have made dubai a paradise, transforming the desert into green land, but no. They wasted the money to have buildings and buildings, they should stop doing that, and start thinking about the land itself.

  • well they still have plans to make it green.. if you look up new projects it includes the making of the surrounding green.

  • @promonument

yeh i agree with u there bro this small city has become the modern Heaven on the Earth and every thing under the sun goes in Dubai they thought everything will go right but they failed to relised that all man made thing doenst last long so let them fail

  • @promonument thats best discription on youtube about dubai , ppl what this person is saying is 100% true.

  • @promonument sorry but dubai will not fail that is not allowed the are a major finacial and material support for 44% of the world meaning in terms of UEA and half of workers are not muslim dont get tight oh yeah im eatin pork strips with excellent pasta

  • I would hope Americans realize it is in their best interests for Dubai to succeed and create a new non-oil based economy in the region which should make it economically more stable overall. Dubai takes education seriously, apparently realizing that their edge on tourism will wane over the coming years and must be replace by a highly educated and professional services based economy. This means they are poised to become a strong force in pushing other Islamic nations towards international norms.

  • Its sure !!!

Dubai will bounce back before rest of the world !!!!

With the power of great leaders.

  • Hope so... but great leaders should come out and analyse the economy on the street... Businesses are closing right and left.... Government officals are giving stupid fines to businesses and public whenever they want... Gov. officals should stop pressuring people at least at these times...

  • as of october 08 dubai had 75% of the worlds cranes

  • its a deserving punishment as they used think lot about themselves. they were trying to compare their econimic our indian ecnomic growth duiring their boom time. and used say they were better.now they know who is better.

  • India won't escape the economic crisis. Even China has been affected by the downturn. Arrogance is an ugly trait.

  • India will face famine and water shortage in the near future, not to mention the plagues, given the pure filth in the country.

  • You are right... But India ??? dont even start you are still controlled by outsiders...

  • i live in the us and im not jealous, i'm actually excited to see what the city will look like when most of the construction is finished.

its a really interesting place :D

  • Alot of the construction projects may never get finished due to the economic downturn.

  • whats with all you guys saying 'the west is jealous etc '? FYI, no its not. Dubai is a great tourist attraction and an amazing place, but thats all it is, a tourist attraction. It connot compare to London, New York or Paris. Those cities have history, landmarks, huge financial power, (they are the three richest cities in the world) rwspect, political power. London-where the financial industry began, the center of the largest empire in history, it is richer than most countries. were not jealous

  • I LOVE UAE FOR EVER...!!!

  • LONG LIVE DUBAI

    LONG LIVE THE UAE

It can not fail. This is much speculation and only the leaders know what they are doing. I lived in Dubai and my heart will always lay there. Long live Dubai and H.H. Bin Sulayem.

  • they hated us then

    they hate us now

& frankly they might never stop the hating

coz they simply have nothing better to do with their lives

    LONG LIVE DUBAI

    LONG LIVE THE UAE

    AND LONG LIVE ITS LEADERS

  • lol the west is soo jealous

  • The east is importing a lot of the west's decadent imperialist superficiality, and quite obviously from this broadcast, a similar lack of journalistic ethics! This is like Foxjazeera.

Why do they adopt all the worst things about the west but continue to be so openly sexist? The wealthy elite in western nations at least feign interest in equality and fairness.

They look for any second and third world country with an exploitable workforce to dump their shit on, but at least they lie about it!

  • those slaves u talk about most of them are happy that they are in the UAE and make 4 times what they make back in their countries, many of them have big families and working in dubai or gcc is the only way for them to support their families, some stayed poor, some became rich its all about oppurtinities and how a person is smart. i know few friends that said they will never leave UAE back to india, why is that? dont u think they living better?

  • what about, not seeing his familly for months or years, not recognising their own sons because they didnt live with them, what about, not attending weddings funerals, what about to being insulted as human by ....what you seems to think is the best opportunity in their lifes, why dont you try to share a room with 30 other people , work 16 hours a day, and having no air conditioner, or travelling 100 in a bus desing for 30, PLEASE, WHY DO YOU ASUMME MONEY RULES FOR EVERYBODY

  • first of all, who your talking about, second of all there is no way now that uae labor workers live 30 per room now. this is illegal and has $150,000 fine to the firms. 3rd you know swetshops? they are in india, china, latin america? what about those people who get exploited for the greed of western corporations and the greed of westerners. you have from toys to electronics imported in america and are made by 1 dollar per day labor in china or india,

  • you cant sht down swetshops, cause you be attacking the rights of the workers themselves, cause they choose to work this work at the first place

  • who told you the workers work 16 hours per day, please bring in facts on the table, last time i visited back home all companies including mine cant make their laborforce work more then 8-12 hrs per day, and soon they will even kill overtime jobs, just wait and see

  • 100 persons in a buss designed for 30, happens in pakistan, india, kenya, and lots of african countries but this does not ever happen in UAE.

  • fuck of ssaleem....dubai was made by those under paid, pressurised pakistanis and indians...about which you were so proud....but Allah has taken away that back from you....you dumb arabs could not do this without us....now go to helll

  • do you know any thing about GAZWA E HIND.

  • do you know any thing about GAZWA E HIND.

  • Well said.

  • I wanted to give you a million thumbs up

, but youtube allows one , sorry.

  • dam it. it's all the fking USA's fault that we're in this recession. bullshit........they can never do anything right for once....just like going into wars and pressuring countries to like them even though they do the wrong dam thing everytime.

  • They gave to much to the kaffr, from previous events they should have learnt not to make that mistake!

  • shame dubai had this coming. serves dem right for allowing kuffar to spread fasaad, khamr and kufr in the arabian peninsuela

  • muhammed was a businessman, not a goat herder... every moslem should follow his model.

  • he was also a shepherd in his younger days - sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam

  • Muhammad (SWS) was more than a businessman.

He was a religious authority and figure

    He was a businessman

    He was a father

    He was a husband

    He was a Mujahideen

    He was a politician

    He was a statesman

He was a leader and a visionary

He is the most important man to have ever been born in my opinion

  • i can think of a few who are more important than he was ... for example Henry

Ford, Nikola Tesla, Gallileo Gallilei, Isaac Newton, Einstein, Stevenson, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Rockefeller etc ...

  • These ppl are not even 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000....of what Mohammad was...

    Sorry i cannot put more zeros...uncountable 0's..infinity...

  • Sorry to say,but that comment makes no sense in the context of this video.

  • Hello boijorzee,

If you click on All 115 Comments, it will show you all comments on this video. Now search for the word 'Mohammad'. This would be my reply to a comment posted by a non muslim.

In that context my comments would make sense to you...Happy investigation

  • I stand corrected then.

  • do you know any thing about GAZWA E HIND.

  • No one wants to go there because of its terrible location. Look at the shit holes this place is next to. Its in the middle of no where. What idiots thought this was a good idea.

  • it is even in front of Iran so any attack on Iran nuclear plants will affect it its waters its air etc ...not only that Iran have warned that it will retaliate on UAE and similar countries that have US bases in them in case it got attacked , so in the short term Iran might just turn Dubai into ashes in case let say Tehran got attacked by US from the UAE basis

  • oh mr khanzeer, ur us propaganda aint gonna work to scare the gulf arabs, only the US puppets which ur gov controls is being forced to see iran as a threat. If iran does attack anything, it will only be US basis, as the trade, n no. of ppl of iranian descent, n current iranians in the gulf is huge. no country is gonna sit n wait for it to be attacked without retaliation. now shut ur US.israeli bullshit, n just watch the fuckin video!

  • Almost half the population of the UAE consist of originally farsi-speaking people whose ancestors came from Iran - they're not gonna attack the UAE - they don't even need to - they'll just wait for your US battleships to enter Iranian waters and smoke 'em ...

  • For the Iranian people's sake, I hope that wouldn't start a "chain reaction".

  • Exactly WHAT 'chain reaction' are you talking about? LOL - you've all but lost in Iraq, you're losing in Afghanistan - they're going to bankrupt you the same as they did to the USSR - the Chinese aren't going to bail you out anymore and the only winner is Iran since they control the majority of Iraq - unless you actually are dumb enough to believe all the rubbish they print in your papers...

  • lol, am sure maybe 20% of UAE citizen orginally from iran, but rest come from yemen and other parts of arab penensula

  • you got that right sir

  • wht sort of idiot r u? i guess u must be one of them jealous folk, who couldnt make it big in life! the whole world knows dubai n goes there! get some real facts! yes ppl rn't investing there now, but who's investing else where in the world either, from spain to US, to china to russia. every1's facing a recession, but dubai was the centre of attraction throughout this decade!

  • Even If I had money I wouldn't go there. There are much better places to see.

  • LIKE????

  • Paris , Rome , Monaco .... etc

Dubai is just a modern city thats all. It has no historic beauty.

  • So you don't have money - but you like whining about people who do - very constructive.

P.S. 'much better places to see' does NOT include your local McDonalds - since the US economy tanked they don't even hire anymore - why is probably why you don't have any cash, right redneck?

  • you mean center of modern slavery

  • Dubai really had no real value..all foreign money there..their oil ran out a while ago, and they have

no manufacturing base...with this downturn, there

will be a glut of vacant apartments, as most folks

brought them to sell not live in...so building boom is over..back the classroom jerks!..learn something you lazy fools!

  • XDXDXDXD WTF do r u talking abt! I mean lol didnt u know that the last drop of oil will be taken from Abu dhabi?

    u should google it.

XD XD F***ing moron lol sorry abt that bt u disserve it.

  • these brainless nomads thought that USA Singapore or Taiwan just started by building sky scraper since day one , they do not understand the industrial revolution upon which it was all based , they do not understand that skyscraper came as an answer to the lack of space , they do not understand the democratic process that preceded it all , , they thought we will build a bunch of skyscrapers and we will become like USA , how childish and retard !

  • plantation economy was hardly the industrial revolution bro, it was on the backs of slavery the west got rich except britain which usually blasted through civilizations that were created over thousands of years. the only democracy the labourers had were over their choice of death either on board or in the field, so don't get so starry eyed over your development, its not what it seems, have you ever been to a desert and seen a mirage? if you haven't wati till the financial crisis is over.

  • check out lindey williams he predicted this back in July....

  • it wasn't only linedy williams who predicted this, alot of intl banks did too, yeah i agree things were built like there's no tomorrow once they opened the market to the world, (was crazy for the most part), but ppl made a lot of money, n those who were greedy lost a lot too (alhamdullilah). Every1 knows u cant hv a boom forever, but dubai only went down to this extent due to the fall of the US, which triggered worldwide recession. if not the situation would hv been quite different.

  • LOL the horned buildings should be their first clue it atlantis!!!!!!ha ha ha ha all our stolen fake money ha ha render to ceaser what is ceasers and thats about all they deserve Nothing lol My eyes have seen the GLORY of the comming of MY LORD!!!! ha ha ha ha uhhhh i couldnt have wrote it better myself, but they just write it off anyways and collect more money from us lol uh in a handbasket!!

  • dubai belongs to free masonry and rebbellion its a satanic city....a corrupter to the region...but israhell is much worse!!!!!dubai may be lazy greedy and fat but theyre not killing lilgazan kids like the lilpussies they are!dubai doesnt make money off of warfare, unlike israehell....soon israhell will become a ghost land ...israhell wants to take over "greater zion" and that includes saudiyya but if they ever set foot on madinatulnebi or makka we will sacrifice ourself!!!!!!!

  • Yes and how much of their filthy money did they spend for that spacetacular fireworks show for their falling angel lucifer .How many millions in their dirty money?how many babies would that money have saved in africa? or Iraq or palestine? Die a slow painful death I say to them. good God is comming.and they are gonna go! good.

  • I agree, Christians are retarded.

  • relax Allah will protect Mecca.... even if nobody was there... also let's not forget about the the other things happening to other muslims around the world... like the muslim on muslim genocide and gang rapes happening in Darfur...

  • will he fuk u spazzy

  • they are same with all sub continent ppl, do you know, gawader pakistan is the better place for the trade being held in dubai, geographically gawader is more important to reach the middle east, last president of pakistan worked on it, but uae is supporting insurgency in baloch tribes like bugti etc just to prevent dubai...now pakistanis believe that th

  • that this is recession becoming depression for the uae is the result of their bads.

  • stop hateing please it feeds them,

  • I hate you.

  • I hate you too , and I do not want to pay you for the oil that is not yours never been yours

  • If you don't want to pay, then we have ways of making you. And all you can do is bitch about which is something that you can do better than anyone the world over.

  • Funny talk - coming from someone whose country (Israel) is surviving only because :

    a) They get handouts from the US and Germany

    b) They sell armaments

So you spend money that technically isn't yours and sell products that cause nothing but misery and destruction - but according to your logic the oil that is in Dubai does not belong to the citizens of it. Hmmm...

  • If you are planing to invest your money in Dubai , you better flush that money down the toilet and spare yourself the price of the trip , cause every cent you invest there is a lost cent in that giant Ponzi Scheme ...

  • good video

  • It was obvious from the beginning that Dubais business model could not be held forever. Owing its growth to public spending which is at the same time dependent on the prices of oil, it had to stop sooner or later. Only if they succed in turning the place into a major touristic spot (which I highly doubt), or into a major technological hub, Dubai will be, as soon as the prices of oil go below 30 USD or they simply run out of it, a former bright spot in the middle east.

  • well where do u get all this information from? oil is 3% of dubai's GDP, the rest is realestate, manufacturing, trade, tourism and festivals, the wealth of the Country which Dubai is part of is from United Arab Emirates captial called Abu Dhabi which hold 10% of world oil reserves and beleive me we are not idiots as you think, we managed to turn a desert to a green heaven in less then 30 years, maybe u should visit and see yourself!

  • I am amazed how many flies seem to buzz around calling Dubai dead. Let me assure you that Dubai, like any other place on earth is feeling its pain but it is by no means dead the way some people would like it to be. It will revive be it in 6 months or 6 years but it will like all other places. And before anyone writes Dubai's obituary, write New York's, London's and Tokyo's as well.

To AljazeeraArabicNews all I can say is grow up. Stop making quips over things you obviously do not know about.

  • aljazeeraarabicnews is an israeli spreading lies... lol typical israeli attitude in switching the truth... just like they killed jesus.. he is always talking badly about arabic people.. seen his posts all over

  • Dubai is a shit hole ion the middle of the desert , soon it will become a ghost town

  • lol fuck you zionist..

  • True story. Let it turn back into sand.

  • You first American dipsh*t

Speaking of sand, aren't Mexico, LA and Arizona deserts as well?

  • LA isn't sand. Arizona has a desert and forests. Same goes for Mexico. Maybe you should look a a topograhical map sometime? lol

  • Umm .. Dubai actually has green spots - they get adequate rain, they have large date farms and golf courses and unlike congested cities like LA and Arizona their population is small enough to avoid any water shortages. Their program to 'green' the main cities has worked like a charm. Perhaps you should consult your own map sometime?

  • Comment removed

  • SunDevilDave repiled back to this post - and promptly deleted it (so as to not look like a fool I guess) - he said that Dubai was 'bleeding people' every day. Umm, yes they are 'bleeding' - mostly unskilled labor who have no jobs thanks to the economic downturn. The US is in worse shape - but that won't prevent people who know nothing on the subject from commenting on it, right?

  • "adequate rain"???? have u ever been to dubai? it rains at most a week a year dude. it is a dry, dry place. Great in many ways to live, but definitely not a wet place and without govt subsidies for water and gas prices, it will become more and more expensive to live there. It truly will be a city for the filthy rich and the workers that service them.

  • I've lived in Dubai for over 20 years thank you, so I think I your query of 'have u ever been to dubai' is moot - it's 'adequate' in the sense that the population isn't big enough yet to make water scarcity a problem - yet. As far as expense is concerned, its VERY expensive and will become more so in the future -which is why it is positioning itself as a niche market for the super-rich even now - whether this will work depends on the future WHEN the dollar crashes ...
