  • Very helpful video. Thank you.

  • @Gobi512 Youre very welcome! Thanks for watching :)

  • Hi Melissa,

I am learning so much from your videos! One suggestion I have is to put a small tarp, or a garbag can lined with a leaf bag, right next to your work area. That way, you just toss your 'trash' onto the tarp or into the garbage can and clean-up is SO much QUICKER AND EASIER!!!.

  • Hi Loved your video, this will be my very first garden project and i have clay soil its kinda rust looking in color also how do i keep weeds from growing back after ive raked the area and planted my flowers?

  • Really enjoy your videos! Texas A&M recommends using expanded shale to help amend clay soil. I posted a video to share that shows how I amended my soil.

It really works GREAT! in North Texas we have TERRIBLE clay soil.

Good luck on this year's garden! :-) I've already started sprouting some of my seeds. lol i couldn't wait!

  • I love your videos. You make these jobs look so much easier that I actually got out and tackled it and ended up loving it. No more gardeners for this guy. KEEP UM COMING. bTW where are u located. I have that same clay dirt here in Dallas

  • Hello, I am starting my first garden this year. I cut the top layer of the clay soil off with grass on it to reduce the grass from growing back. But I live on a hill and the garden is at the bottom of the hill and it seems to puddle up when it rains. Now, I haven't tilled it yet or add anything to it to help it drain. Would expanded shale and compost help it from puddling up or is it a waste of time.?

  • @CombatWarrior420 Yes, it will help, and also, because i have no idea about what type soil you have, have you thought of digging a small little ditch to catch some of the water that comes down the hilll, and let it drain off farther down, along the garden? Build a tiny bridge over it.... Plants also love perma-till which can be kinda pricey, so maybe buy some bags of tiny pea gravel or even builders sand... great question!

  • Clay soil, the bane of my existence. Thank you for this vid & your positive points on what it does offer that non clay soils don't. I've never thot of it that way!

  • Ha! You made me laugh! Thanks for watching ! and yes, Clay soils actually do have good qualities...
