with all respect to Eric singer and Tommy, people don't pay to hear songs off Sonic Boom . People know and like KISS because of the classics off Destroyer , Love Gun , etc. Eric and Tommy don't get respect of Ace and peter (and shouldn't), Tommy and Eric are painted up like peter and Ace , and look like impostors . Just so Gene can get more money for himself. KISS is 1/2 tribute band nowadays.

As Mr. Stanley has explained many times over, the reason why Eric and Tommy sported the Cat / Space Man personas was because it's the characters, not necessarily the guys behind the make-up, that KISS fans identify with. It became silly creating new characters each time a new member would join the band i.e. Giraffe Boy, Goat Boy, etc. You can probably find an interview or two on YT of Paul explaining this.

The real reason Eric Carr and Vinnie had their own characters was because Gene and Paul didn't own the rights to the "Space Ace" or the "Catman" back in the early 80's. So they were forced to create new characters.

However, Ace and Peter no longer own the rights to those images so Gene and Paul are free to use them.

I'm of the opinion that just because you have the "right" to do something, that doesn't make it the "right" thing to do. This is a prime example of that.

eric singer has been playing and touring as a pro since 1982. w/ lita ford. black sabbath. alice cooper. and kiss. so he is a very well seasoned musician. he has played and toured three seperate times with kiss. always going back to cooper on the kiss down times. remember. it doesn't matter who you think is fucking who, as long as you both had a good time.

You seem to be recycling the comments made by Gene Simmons. Nobody ever says how Gene & Paul were so egocentric that they wouldn't allow ANY of Peter's material on the Psycho Circus album. Peter got fired in 79. Eric Carr joined in 1980, and died after the 1990 Hot in the Shade Tour. Eric Singer, Paul Stanley's solo tour drummer was hired for the Revenge album and stayed untill the 1996 reunion tour. Peter came on for that, and quit in 2001. Eric Singer took over until Pete came back in 2003 for the Symphony show, and left once again shortly after that. Eric Singer is the current KISS drummer.
