"You wanna how i did it, this is how i did Anton, I Never saved anything for the swim back!" starts at 2:02. Say the quote out loud yourself and experience the epicness.
@MarkMagpusao I think it symbolises overcoming the fear of death. Isolated midway between the two shores, Vincent is left with only will to rise above his condition.
@MarkMagpusao that is true, he did respond saying "what other side?!" as if there was obviously no other side, which means it was written in the script for some other meaning. I never thought of it that way. It just makes this movie that more amazing and still my number 1 of all time
@MarkMagpusao I think "the other side" refers to the side of Vincent's hopes and dreams - the one side Vincent was focused on reaching. The reason Vincent said "it's too late for that", is because he was determined never to give up, just how he did with entering Gattaca.
In one scene, where Vincent was a janitor, he was cleaning the glass on the window doors of Gattaca. He responded once: "Yeah, but if the glass is clean, it'll be easier for you to see me when I'm on the other side of it!".
Can anyone tell me what instrument is used in this piece? I have to write an essay on Gattaca in an exam tomorrow, so anyone who knows i would love to hear from you :)
@Lazryus Yeah, I know. I played Heavy Rain a few months ago and was watching this movie on TV last week and this song started playing. I was like "HOLY SHIT, ITS HEAVY RAIN!".
I'm glad to know that i wasn't the only one who though the heavy rain song sounded similar...when i first played that game it was killin me cause i couldnt' remember where i heard that song before...for some reason i thought pearl habour..maybe cause josh hartnett reminds me of ethan hawke..but yah heavy rain kind of changed it a lil..but it's still noticeable..but it fits great with that game and really creates a sad atmosphere :(
I cried at the end, when Eugene gets into the incinerator... I mean, I know this movie was meant to be about how the human spirit triumphs above anything, but the scene where Eugene kills himself is just... sad - after all he had done for Vincent, he let Vincent to take over his identity, I don't know. The first time I saw it, that scene was imprinted on my mind forever...
Where can I get the score sheet for this song??????? I don't care if it's piano solo or not. I am doing a report on this amazing piece and I can't find the sheet music for it anywhere :.(

possibly one of the best films ever made....gattaca's got it all - sci fi, special effects, romance, suspense, emotion, great soundtrack, underlying theme, action, even humor (from jude law)
Pretty good movie I watched it in my 9th grade biology class and this song just stayed in my head I love it. Makes one miss the 90's a decade that was just filled with great films not to say the films of today are bad I just think that movies from the 90's were better
though this movie is fictionary, almost all the aspects that make this movie futuristic are slowly becoming a reality. The fact of customizing a child is partially studied and space trvel to other planets are in our grasp...
@Oscy Are you saying that we'll NEVER travel to other planets?! Cause I think it is our duty as a species to colonize space, we should have finished colonizing the moon in 2001, like in the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey"!

What do you guys think about this quote?
"-We have to go back Vincent.
-It's too late for that. We're closer to the other side."
I think it means death. Vincent would rather die than lose to his brother. But why would he call it the other side? What else could it mean?

@dorumon123 This isn't Heavy Rain at all. It's vaguely similar.
Ticalmc2k2 11 months ago
@Ticalmc2k2 I know that I was just saying that the musicians for Heavy Rain probably either used this as reference or just flat out copied it.

@turtle9922 Space travel to other planets are not in our grasp. :s
Unless you're talking about Mars, which was already viable.

@MrDantanic If you see my comment. I say "Space travel to other planets are [sic] not in our grasp".
If you see the comment that I repled to, it reads "The fact... space trvel [sic] to other planets are [sic] in our grasp".
Reading this, your question has been answered.
Oscy 1 month ago
@Oscy No, you're saying that space travel is NOT possible, except for Mars. I believe that we can go to Jupiter.
MrDantanic 1 month ago
@MrDantanic Incorrect, I didn't say that.
Though the joke comment about Jupiter was a bit unexpected.

@Oscy You DID say it, and you're denying it. Unless someone hacked your account.
