It was a graphical error in the files on the Dreamcast that caused Shadow to be silver in SA2. I've looked through the files to find the cause of it, and found that. His texture files contain a peach env. map while the cutscene texture when they transform is silver. The game ended up leaving that texture loaded. This issue was corrected in the Gamecube version of SA2. His colours are supposed to be a peachy bronze colour for his super form. Nothing else.

He is the original shadow (robots cant go super) and the black comet crashes on earth. you you have to fight devil doom as super shadow, using chaos spear. ect. what sonic game would be complete without the protagonist hedgehog transforming into super?

if you listen closely the music thats playing when he transforms is an instrumental remixed version of live and learn from sonic adventure 2. live and learn is officialy listed as one of shadows main music tracks, not sonic. so he is more associated with it.

Correct. Though Tails is the one exception being that in sonic 3 and knuckles he does not turn super with the chaos emeralds but he does once you turn them into super emeralds and yet is still referred to by the game as super tails.

Eh you can make the game really easy though with sonic. With some practice you can have super sonic by the second world. And then at the mushroom level skip the giant ring and keep super sonic. For tails though, there is not reason to just get the chaos emeralds. You must also get the super emeralds before you are rewarded.
