I love a Matte Screen, do you recommend any other model with MATTE SCREEN with the same performance as good as this model´s ? /- Do you think its going to hurt my eyes if a spend more than 8 hours a day in front of this screen . its Its reliable ?
@BToTech1 ...no need to be an ugly neanderthal and attack me! I know what I know. The laptop works great with no problems but only if I turn off the track pad in the bios! Otherwise it definitely misses a letter or two when typing and is very irritating. Now if you cannot duplicate this problem then you are either not a user or you are just being offensive because it is your nature! If it is your nature, I cant stop your ugliness, I can only pity you!
good god man I'm tired of when a p.c doesn't have a fire-wire or or e-sata its the end of the world they don't put it the for a reason as there isn't much hardware that uses e-sata or fire-wire anymore get over it man you still got a beast of a laptop that most people wish they could have if you don't like it because it doesn't have a fire-wire or e-sata give it to me ill take it.
Does this model still have the laggy keyboard thing? any solutions i heard if you turn of the touch pad in bios the keyboard works fine? True? PLEASE ANSWER i really want that laptop, but i dont want a f'd up keyboard at all.
@illkickurass1 have not had a single complain of a laggy keyboard after thousands sold. People always complain on forums. they complain about everything,
@illkickurass1 YES it has the same horrendous laggy keyboard!!! I tried the G73jH-A3, had the same problem, and since it used the ATI 1Gig Video card, it always crashed with GSOD until I did a bios update, however, the laggy keyboard issue was never resolved! Then I got this one, same laggy keyboard problem even though I did a bios update yesterday to version 203; laggy keyboard is still there, though not as bad but it is still there. Asus tech support is no help whatsoever!
@Monsur2005 in case this really did bother you there are some solutions posted try searching "g73jh missing keystroke fix key". its not the keyboard its you and you mostly typing too fast. If you press two keys at a time this can be repeated
@myb4d Ram yes, but its half of of them are hard to access unless you remove the keyboard and flip the motherboard. Graphix Yes, because of MXM (but bare in mind that Asus has a different kind of GPU socket and its hard to find an asus mobile GPU with that correct kind of socket but it is possible, if u can find it), and yes the processor is upgradeable too.
Nice Review..Planning on Buyin this one...tho hav 3 choices in mind..this one, the Asus N73JQ-A2 and Acer Aspire As8943G-9429...just couple of questions i would like to ask..
howz the sound quality ??..Is it loud enough for a small room..?
It's a fantastic laptop but don't buy it till asus fixes the bloody touch pad issues and Nvidia finds a way to get the latest driver to install without having modify previous driver installs.
The only problem is that it has that nasty display which reflects everything from behind you. I know that is the "popular" thing now, but it's too annoying and distracting to use. It's getting nearly impossible to find a new machine without that.
Excellent review. Showed a lot more than most "amateurish" reviews do. I think I would have to get a customized one after looking at your web site. I'd love the speed of a solid state drive, but would hate to give up so much disk space. Definitely would have to max up to 16GB RAM. Probably some other upgrades as well....
I was wondering, since the temperatures on this model is lower than the previous model, is the fan noise less? Looking for a laptop with quiet fan noise and good gaming performance. I had the Alienware M17X before and the fan noise was unbearable. Thanks :)
@Kidio007 Ummm... What happened to the M17x? I'm about to blow 4 grand on it because it seems to be the most viable gaming comp.... Also i've seen many reviews that note how quiet it is.
@xionslash It is quiet when you're not gaming on it, but when you game on it, it sounds like a plane is taking off. I have also read a lot of reviews about it, and it clearly says: quote: "A short time later, the fans change up a further gear and the M17x howls along with up to 52.2 dB(A) almost unbearably loud. You can almost imagine you're sitting beside a blow dryer when you close eyes." But it's a great laptop, I didn't like it because my family got annoyed when I sat next to them with it.
Can someone answer this question ? According to intel website (please google i7-940XM and click on the first result) the i7-940XM only supports up to 8GB of memory but you can upgrade this laptop up to 16GB. Am i wrong?
@fexnok Negative, it will take 16gb no problem. The intel ARK site lists it as 8GB dependant on memory type, but it will without problem take up to 16GB. The reason it is listed as 8gb, is that Intel have not taken in to account motherboard with 3 or 4 memory module slots and only ones with 2.
So while most machines will only support 8gb, the G51, G53 and G73 amongst others will support up to 16GB, soon 32GB as well when the 8GB modules come through the door
@shawntika You need a laptop in which you can scroll through images? :) I know that every person have a right to have what he wants, but man, I don't really think it is something what is valuable :) Or this multi-touch gives something else?
@FallenAndRised Right now the laptop iam using does not have this multitouch function. the only thing i would like to use in multitouch is the ability to scroll the pages using one finger because iam really tired of scrolling pages up and down, left and right using mouse. so this multitouch function will help me a little. that's why i am trying to find out if the trackpad can be made multitouch. if it is not possible then i will give up. :)
@shawntika Man... The middle button on your mouse gives you ability to scroll just the mouse up and down WITHOUT any clicking like when you grab the bar on the right side of the web page and drag it up-n-down... You simply push middle button, this mode turns on, and you even can setup a fucntion as 2, 3, 4 centimeter scrolling per second... It is even better than multitouch and it was always present in PCs... I have it from the beginning, if you don't, do some research..
i'm getting the g73jw-xt1 in two days. the reason i chose the xt1 over the x3 is because the x3 has an ATI Radeon video/graphics card and the xt1 has the same video/graphics card as this g73jw-a1. can't wait! ^_^
@FallenAndRised the g73jw-a1 is similar to the xt1. the main difference from what i've researched is that the a1 has a terabyte of hard drive space (in the form of two 500 gig hard drives) while the xt1 has a 500GB drive, but is expandable to another drive if desired. both these laptops have the same processor, graphics/video card, and blu-ray/dvdrw combo drive. the a1 is certainly nice. it's about 200 bucks more than the xt1. they're both awesome gaming laptops.
Can the buttons of the G73JH's touchpad be replaced with the buttons from the G73JW's touchpad? If yes, is there any chance people can order that from somewhere?
Finally ASUS made the laptop I have been waiting for. I haven't had any issues so far and machine runs great. It is expensive but I would rather get this one instead of paying more for MAC. Don't hesitate to purchase this laptop.
@BToTech1 does the hard disk SATA 2 fits with 1.8, or 2.5, or 3.5 because im about to buy OCZ Vertecs 2 SSD and they actually offer three kinds of Sata II as stated above.. could you please tell me which one is identical to Asus G73JW. thanks in advance

thank you for the review.. do you know how many antenna for the wireless card inside the G73-W. .Will Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 work properly with Asus G73-JW?
You could, if one wanted to, get the ASUS Matrix 5870 (a 5870 GPU that has been upgraded to run cooler, faster, and quieter than the standard 5870). I don't think that the JW is better than the JH because it seems to have very few changes. I would prefer getting the JH because it will be better than this one.
Hey guys, I contacted you regarding upgrading my g73 from the radeon to a nvidia card. Is it possible to put the GTX 460M into my laptop. I can pay you to install it.
Please Contact me, Im in California and can ship you my laptop.
@PokerRosses00 they score the same in 3dmark. they are almost identical but there are many advantages to nvidia. 3d discover is one of them. usb3 and hdmi 1.4 is another perk on the g73jw
@etismyname the only way is simply to not unplug it and be careful. this is a wearable item unfortunately. the more you remove the plug the faster it wears
Also I wish i could PM the question but whatever. On your site you have some choices for a Intel Wifi Advanced 6200 PLUS a 3rd Antenna? And you say only from BTOtech[.]com. How you add a 3rd antenna where does it go?
Does this model use the nvidia optimus? I know the GTX 460M has nvidia optimus, but see I'm confused. Because the i7 700, 800 series doesnt have IGP, but the 600 series, i.e. 620M has IGP. So, if this device does not have an IGP besides the already lack of the IGP of the 740QM, can one downgrade to a 620m to have Nvidia optimus. Pheww. ????
Awesome! Thanks for making this video, the only reason I didn't buy the previous model is because of the lack of a decent Nvidia card needed to run Adobe Premiere CS5's Mercury engine, and as I was just minutes from settling for another model your video popped up on youtube. Thanks!
sure...as soon as i get the JH they come out with a new better one. Im still very happy with my JH though and its not that much different than this and i doubt there will be any need for me to upgrade for a while
@Phattso90 the only way this is better is that it has usb3 and hdmi 1.4. it also will not be available and supply is short. g73jh-b1 is still a current model

thank you bud, how do you compare internal speaker to MSI 660? dos Asus g73JW has an improvement
lionheart453 1 year ago
@lionheart453 i like the sound of g73 better but the sound of gx660 is just as good. g73 has a better subwoofer.

is the graphics nvidia gtx 460m better then the ati radeon 5870?? that was my question anybody can give me a answer.
PokerRosses00 1 year ago
@PokerRosses00 they score the same in 3dmark. they are almost identical but there are many advantages to nvidia. 3d discover is one of them. usb3 and hdmi 1.4 is another perk on the g73jw

lionheart453 1 year ago

ant tips on how to keep the power supply part stable? (the part where you connect the power supply to the laptop)
most of the laptops I had always loosen up after a year or 2 of age...
etismyname 1 year ago
@etismyname the only way is simply to not unplug it and be careful. this is a wearable item unfortunately. the more you remove the plug the faster it wears

just noticed that they did a much needed uprade to the JW and split the mouse button into 2 seperate buttons and not 1 like the JH

Also I wish i could PM the question but whatever. On your site you have some choices for a Intel Wifi Advanced 6200 PLUS a 3rd Antenna? And you say only from BTOtech[.]com. How you add a 3rd antenna where does it go?
KlingonSpider 1 year ago
@KlingonSpider we add the third antenna. I am sure our competitors will copy us like they always do, no names they know who they are :)

Pheww. ????
KlingonSpider 1 year ago
@KlingonSpider no optimus here. no downgrades either

Awesome! Thanks for making this video, the only reason I didn't buy the previous model is because of the lack of a decent Nvidia card needed to run Adobe Premiere CS5's Mercury engine, and as I was just minutes from settling for another model your video popped up on youtube. Thanks!

@Starfighter9397 you are welcome!
BToTech1 1 year ago
sure...as soon as i get the JH they come out with a new better one. Im still very happy with my JH though and its not that much different than this and i doubt there will be any need for me to upgrade for a while
Phattso90 1 year ago
@Phattso90 the only way this is better is that it has usb3 and hdmi 1.4. it also will not be available and supply is short. g73jh-b1 is still a current model
