  • Ford enunciates like Carl Sagan.

  • Seems like a good actor, but I'll bet his career tanks after that 3rd Star Wars movie.

  • @metallicstucco Although Ford's carrer never reached the same height, I wouldn't exactly say his career tanked. The third Indy film, twice as Jack Ryan, The Fugitive, Air Force One; all good films.

  • @nknknnk I was being facetious.

  • Narration in blade runner was sorta bad

  • He isn't stoned or grumpy. Every interview he's ever done is like this. This is the real him when he isn't acting. Too many people make the big mistake in thinking he's like the characters he plays. The truth is, Harrison Ford has always been an extremely shy, quiet person with anxiety. He's always very nervous and uncomfortable around people. His personality is nothing like Han's and Indy's. He's just really good at pretending to be something he isn't when he has a script.

  • He just walks away

  • I like the way Ford is a tough interview, it's a refreshing change from the vacuous gabbing and stupid jokes in so many other interviews.

  • This is episode #78, on June 22, 1982.

  • he acts liked he's baked as a mofo.

  • he acts liked he's baked as a mofo.

  • A TRUE BLADE RUNNER!

  • The legendary film actor on the left as opposed to the wannabe tv fame on the right made it quick and simple.

  • hmm

  • lol wtf he storms off after the interview

  • Hats off to Harrison Ford Legend.

  • man, he was just shitting greatness in the 80's.

  • he's like i've got some hookers waitin outside

  • he takes the coffee mug at the end

  • @sweeneyman1989 It probably had Indiana Jones on it ;-)

  • @sweeneyman1989 hahahahahaha that was funny

  • @sweeneyman1989 He's Han Solo. Smugglers do that. ;)

  • @sweeneyman1989 Epic! LOL

  • He's pure Indiana Jones in this interview. Wonderful to behold.

  • @Onlymusical no he really aint indiana jones in this, hes boring in this interview, hes a good actor because i like the indiana jones movies, n i thought harrison was a bit like him, but turns out hes a bit of a miserable bore in my opinion, n i dont see why people are calling him cool n that, hes really quite boring in this interview, i was surprised as well.

  • @Brady2k10 I think it's cool that he isn't some stupid puppet entertainer cracking jokes and long pointless stories. He's a professional actor and is serious about his roles and I respect him for that.

  • That was really cool, thanks for puting that on :)

  • I am in love with him. There.not now...cuz he's old but nontheless Harrison ford is the man!!!!!! :)

  • Fascinating.

  • also the smartest emotional IQ I have ever seen...listen to how much he realizes this is ONE vision of the future, he even uses the word futurist, which is not a well known word, in thesense he uses it...we need more like him...

  • Oh what an exit :) "You're done with the interview? Awesome, I can get the hell out of here"

  • Run Harry RUN! before we love you to death

  • Oh! if only! - "The Story Concludes in the Third Chapter" - great interview.

  • What a fucking epic time to be him - Indiana Jones, then Blade Runner, followed by Return of the Jedi, all within what 3 or 4 years? Amazing times for him

  • @FetidToecheese yet he never looks too happy at those times

  • @OrionCinemas Yep! I think that's just his personality .. I understand he got the Han Solo part by being his usual miserable git self when reading lines with the prospective actors. Lucas liked how he sounded and gave him the role instead of the others who came for the part (like Kurt Russell)

  • @FetidToecheese I dont think he cared! Now that is pretty cool

  • 1:20 to the end- did he just take my cup?

  • Comment removed

  • i wasnt even born . 9yrs later and i saw BRuner in 2009 and i loved it

  • Love how he just stood up and walked off, instead of doing the BS of leaning over and and pretending to talk to the host! Harrison Ford = business. Harrison Ford = awesome!

  • 1:18 he steals the mug xD

  • Anyone thinks he looks like Aaron Eckhardt in this interview?

  • @theriokid He totally does.

  • @theriokid good point especially at the end, it's all in the square jaw

  • He hates interviews, but it's a necessary evil in his line of work !

  • harrison ford is cool

  • what a great time that was, one classic movie after another. i wish i hadn't been only 2 that year.

  • Ford has always hated the media machine promoting movies. In his early days he barely could stomach it, nowadays, he tolerates and endures because he finally realizes what must be done.

  • lmao Harrison left like he had to take the biggest shit in his life but he didnt forget his coffee. He was like "Im takin this cup bitch!"

  • Blade Runner: a masterpiece;so much better than ALL the silly Star Wars movies put together...

  • @mrbriscoe2001 apples and oranges in my opinion.

sure, blade runner is more interesting on an intellectual and artistic level...but star wars is fantastic as well. i'd rate blade runner higher...but there's a reason star wars is such a classic.

  • This is great because it's at a time before Harrison Ford became HARRISON FORD. He had some Star Wars behind him and Raiders, but he hadn't yet reached his icon status. In fact, Dave hadn't reached his icon status either. Classic.

  • Harrison looked high as fuck.... U saw the way he dipped outta there? Like he couldn't wait 2 hit a line or summ'n!... I think he's more of a weed smoker tho, being that he frequents Jamaica!

  • Massive mancrush.

  • love him so much!

  • He got up and ran like he couldn't wait to get the hell out of there! And David Letterman sure was ugly(er) in the 80's...

  • LOL! Hey Harrison? You left yer wallet!!

  • I don't think anyone at that time, or Harrison, knew just how legendary movies like Star Wars, Raiders, Empire and Blade Runner would become.

  • Raiders of The Lost Ark is still one of my all time favorite action movies! They should have shown a better clip of Blade Runner with some dialog from Harrison. Harrison does seem uncomfortable in the interview, but what can you do? He's alright in my book.

  • Ford, truly humble, real and eccentric all in one

  • LOL..I have to go Dave..thnx!

  • harrison looks like he's looking for his gun in 1:16

  • yeah... he seemed really nervous through the whole interview too. i think blade runner got to him. or is he always like that in interviews?

  • GO HARRISON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it looks like Harrison is going for his gun on 1:16

  • What the hell? That was the most random Blade Runner clip. They should have showed the scene where Ford's character is eating Chinese food on the street and gets interrupted by that guy who is looking for him.

And is Ford antisocial or what? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

  • he's always been like that in interviews, kind of aloof and seemingly uncomfortable. I think part of it is legitimate and part of it is just a role that he plays into, sometimes it seems pretty serious but I think its just his version of really wry humor. I think he really does hate interviews/publicity of any kind though, he's a pretty normal, reserved person and never really liked the whole fame/Hollywood scene

  • Pre Jedi stuff!! Time does fly.

  • 1:18 and he's off like a shot... lol poor Harrison, looked utterly miserable the entire time.

  • He seemed extremely well relaxed back then and easy to understand, unlike today where his voice has gotten a bit jaded over the years I guess it happens to all of us? lol

  • i like how he doesn't have time to move down a chair for someone else's interview. that's how you know he's badass

  • Blade Runner, is the best. StarWars is the science fantasy saga, and Indian Jones is the best Adventure saga. Wow he is pretty much the man.

  • haha he took his mug!

  • Rutger Hauers best work I think.. Blade Runner I mean :) And Harrison Ford is like Jack Nicholson in many aspects, mainly that he has one character so strong it is enough to carry most of his films effortlessly :D

  • The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long - you my prodigal son have shone so very brightly...Time to die.

  • what the heck...when he was playing Han Solo, was he just being himself?

  • Han Solo didn't look like an acute case of social phobia, asperger's autism or schizoidism.

  • Great diagnose, Doctor Eikinkloster! I think you'd love him with a fake smile on his face talking silly stories and pretending that he's having a wonderful time in a showman's company who reads dumb questions from a paper.

  • @joyholmes11 My point is that autistic as he is, he delivers a perfectly non-Autistic Solo. That means he is indeed a great actor.

I have nothing against Autistic people. Why, do you?

  • No, I don't either. I got you wrong. He is brilliant indeed. /By the way I intended to write 'telling' instead of 'talking' in my previous comment./ Cheers

  • @Eikinkloster He doesn't have autism you idiot. Letterman is a goofy asshole who likes embarrassing his guests to entertain his audience. Ford and Letterman are complete opposite in terms of personality which makes for an awkward interview. The fact that you don't see that might mean that YOU have autism?

  • Eikinkloster - you cant expect others to be as socially perfect as you. That what would trigger an "acute case of social phobia".

  • Guess how I can recognize phobia/autism/schizoidia when I see...?

  • guess how you can exaggerate basic human situations into clinical disorders...?

  • @returnofbeaux wendileona supposed I was comparing him with my social perfection. It's pretty much the other way around.

  • ...but yeah he's a bit shifty here.

  • What a cool cat he is eh? Always admired him.

  • Good to hear Ford compliment Rutger.

  • lol

  • Pretty sure that was the third golden era of cinema. I'm no film buff, I'm sure people can agree with me though.

  • He owes me six bucks.

  • yeah he owes me six bucks too

  • damn, think about that. at time of interview he did empire and first indy very recently. blade runner came out later that week and jedi came out the following may!!! jesus what a shitload of great movies in such a short amount of time!!!

  • was thinking the same exact thing the other day

  • Blade Runner was the second best film he was in behind Starwars Empire Strikes Back. Aslo the two best science fiction films other then 2001 Space Odyssey.

  • Blade Runner was much better than the Empire Strikes Back. I don't mean to say "Empire Strikes Back" isn't a good film -- it's a GREAT film, close to the best of its category -- but it is in a different category from Blade Runner. Blade Runner is far more sophisticated, artistic, and meaningful.

  • totally agree with you on 1, 2, and 3! if u havent seen 'solyaris' you should see it. im talkin the soviet movie from the 1970s, not the crappy george clooney remake.

  • Did he steal the mug or was he supposed to carry it off? :D

  • haha

  • I've never seen a quicker exit from a big star on a talk show!

  • @welshfilmbuff He is still shy and uncomfortable with interviews these days as well.

  • @CalgarSkull He does seem slightly less cranky nowdays, though. For example, he actually acknowledges how good Blade Runner is, these days!

  • @welshfilmbuff Oh he likes Blade runner now....or at least gives it more respect??

  • @CalgarSkull Probably the later, now that you bring it up. I know he did extras for the Blade Runner box set a few years ago, which kinda surprised me.

  • @welshfilmbuff Right he did an interview for it didn't he?

  • @CalgarSkull Yeah ; He came across as admirably frank about the production, too ; especially when talking about the infamous voice-over on the originally released cut (it was funny hearing a bemused Ford trying in earnest to deliver the lines in outtakes).

  • @welshfilmbuff Oh wow, I would love to see that ...it's on the two disc Blade runner???

  • @CalgarSkull I think so. I have the five disc set in the tin box ;-)

  • @welshfilmbuff -- He was gone like the Millennium Falcon into hyperspace...

  • @welshfilmbuff It was the hot coffee. He had to use the bathroom.

  • i think he looks best in smart-casual, as seen here. gotta love harrison whatever he wears, though <3

  • I love how youtubers think they know every single thing about every other person.

  • Harrison Ford seemed funny and aloof in this interview but he actually hates being in the limelight and likes to stay away from the public eye. He values his privacy because he knows how dangerous being in the public eye can be as many other actors can attest too.

  • mi amor !!!!!!que lindo que estaba ahi

  • wow he wasted no time getting the fuck out of there after the interview

who cares though, Blade Runner is the greatest film in cinema history

  • i was thinking the same thing :)

    go ford!!

  • LOVE Ford's acting in Blade Runner. One of his best performances in my opinion — perhaps his best.

Who cares how he is in interviews. His life isn't supposed to be entertainment... his work is.

  • I've never seen Ford come across as pompous, ever.

I have noticed that many people have acid reactions to people who come across in an understated yet intelligent manner.

Fors is they very antithesis of pompous ... he's amazing self-effacing. Go back and watch again, and learn.

  • yeah exactly I think Ford is the very opposite of pompous. Don't mistake his extreme shyness and failure to put on a phony hollywood smiley face in public for being arrogant. He is really nice to fans and goes out of his way to sign autographs. He is self deprecating and claims he is very limited as an actor and he is lucky to have had the career he's had and doesn't complain about the attention because he said it doesn't matter because he's lucky, he's just private and very shy.

  • Ford is notoriously shy and private. But, I've never seem his THIS uncomfortable. It's interesting to see him on Letterman now, and compare the differences in behavior

  • Didn't you see his recent interview on Letterman? He was even MORE reserved, doubting, and hurt-looking lol!

  • Ford has been a "dry" interview his whole career. He's shy and hates the Hollywood publicity stuff. I assume he had a Valium or a cocktail before this interview. He seems kinda high and slurry.

  • I read somewhere's that he hates crowds in fact he has a fear of them, and I can differently see that being true...

  • "screw you guys im goin home".

  • Gee...and i thought Ford was a bit socially awkward NOW... I'm sure he's a nice guy, but not terribly personable.
