  • UNDERRATED SONG FROM A GREAT ALBUM

  • Comment removed

  • Merry Christmas. This is a song I'm going to play on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

  • ...I've heard this tune when i did a short stay in NC! Cool & Classy tune!!!

  • Adding McDonald's voice to the band changed it for the worse.

I always picture a singing bull moose when I hear his voice.

This is still a HOT album!

  • This song always makes we want to get away from my grey winter skies,it always lifts my spirit-way,way,way up high-up to the blue skies, beautiful girls, warm tropical waters,beaches-it is a Mona Lisa of imagery-a transport to another place, another time-"Beaches and the sea"-"Thats where I long to be"-Jump on the boat and sail"-to "Rio"-Have you ever seen,or been to, Rio, my friends?Perhaps you should check into it!(p.s.-nice job on the solo skunk-H.R.is proud of you)

Played this tune with a little combo, the 5/4 part is cool.......Book Doesn't have them all but has most of the tune, you can figure out the rest. send me a mailing address and i'll get something to ya....... remember , not supposed to use this kinda stuff for commercial purposes, only to educate yourself....................................

  • ドゥービーのイカスファンキーチューン!~RIO~掛け声はマリア・マルダーだネ!~ブラジリアン・ムード・フュージョンの完成品!

  • between 0:27 and 0:47 , it's bliss. Then it just gets dumb. what a waste

  • @BBQFanNo1 because smacking me will help me appreciate the doobie brothers? I don't think it's going to work. You gotta hit me harder than that, I need some brain damage and maybe I'll be retarded enough to start liking the chorus.

And why do you gotta be an internet tough guy? you sound like you're old, why don't you act your age. I think all that BBQ de-greasing got to your head. You start liking hill billy music and make outrageous claims like i don't like jazz.

    listen to 'madlib - pyramids'

  • @H2oRiz Settle down Riz. Can't We All Just Get Along???

  • Comment removed

  • The fact that a Hip-Hop producer (in this case Madlib) just needs a small portion of a Doobie Brothers joint to create one of the dopest beats I've ever heard is a major proof that music is a universal language.

  • This song just blew my mind!!! Madlib meets Free Design, with Michael McDonald...

  • Love the Horns and Bass by Tiron Power

  • Yes, I hear Maria Muldaur, (Midnight at the Oasis - check it out!!) Does this sound a little like "Livin' on the Faultline." ???

  • A・O・Rになり果てたこの頃、"TakinItToTheStreet"のDOOBIESはそれでも、演奏・楽曲は充実、リオ~マリア・マルダーがちらっと!

  • I think there was a guest singer, Maria Muldour

  • may the doobie live on........Fuck The Blunt

  • it looks like "Toxer of power"

  • @BBQFanNo1 Maybe you should just stick with Gospel music.

  • @BBQFanNo1 Come on now. A lot of Rap/Hip-Hop music is pretty decent. It's not fair to talk down on all of it. Run-DMC and Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five are Hall of Famers.

  • @455Transam I also like both Steely Dan. 1972-73 Rock Steely Dan. And 1977 to 1980 Jazz Pop Steely Dan.

  • @BBQFanNo1 What about 1974 to 1976 Steely Dan? Why the gap in years?

  • @455Transam Superb music from albums like Takin It To The Streets.

  • @BBQFanNo1 Yeah it's good music but I can tell by your comments that for some strange reason you have no respect for "Rock/Soul" music. You made comments like "...they outgrew it because they knew there was more important things in life", really, like what? It's all music and there are different styles and sounds of music, there's nothing to "outgrow", it's all about what YOU like. I would say "they" just got bored with one style of music and needed a change, not that they "outgrew" it.

  • @455Transam I apologize if there was anything posted in the wrong context or disrespectful. I understand what you mean. I have played bass since 1970. I was strictly Rock & Roll,Etc and nothing else up to 1969. I was not even open minded to anything else in Music. Then shortly after by mid 1970 I expanded my interests into every different variety styles of Music along with Rock Music.

  • @BBQFanNo1 No problem....I must say I detest Gangsta' Rap though.

  • @BBQFanNo1 Yes, it is my taste and my business, never said everyone had to think like me.

I'm giving my opinion like everyone else.

I LOVE Chicago with Terry Kath, I "Like" them without him, but without him they're just another "Pop" band, again my opinion but I know I'm not alone on that one.

  • @BBQFanNo1 ......Are you SERIOIUS?? PABLO CRUISE!!?? REALLY??!! LOL!!!!!

Get off your High Horse BBQBOY, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and YOU telling people not to complain about post Tom Johnston Doobies isn't cool either.

I never said I didn't like the McDonald Doobies, I do, and some of my fav Doobie tunes are "Echos of Love" and "It Keeps You Runnin" but I like the Johnston "Rock Soul" years more.

  • Could someone with the capabilities post "Losing End" from this album. It's a great doobies song. Thanks for posting Rio...BADASS song too.

  • Can you post "Takin' It To the Streets" please?

  • Spectacular song!

  • Northern California Pop/Rock music at it's finest.

  • There is not a dang thing wrong with liking both reiterations of the Doobies- Rock and California Soul/Jazz

  • One of skunk baxters finest guitar solos !

  • When this album was first released, a lot of people (especially Doobie Brothers fans) were shocked. The band had gone off in a completely different direction, and few (if any) people saw it coming. They lost a lot of fans, but they gained a lot too. On it's own merits, it's an awesome album, and I consider it as one of my all time favorites.

  • @trilogypart3 That is true. The Doobie Brothers lost a lot of their fans when this album came out and gained equally a lot of new fans since.

  • Madlib - Pyramids

  • wow sweet hip[ hop samples :)

  • I love this song!!!!

I love The Doobie Brothers !!!!!

Other wonderful tunes are in this album.

Could anyone contribute FOR SOMEONE SPECIAL ?

    Is this expression correct?

  • @moonlight22to57 For someone special is the best song ever. Just commenting.

  • @joeheadblues Realy? Thank you ! but I have use that machine translation

  • Guilty pleasure this song, it was very different from the other material. I don't think Doobie Brothers when I hear this song.

  • The Doobies were one of the most versatile bands of all time, I didn't care for the McDonald time but some serious gems did come out of it. This is pure class , And they always did have a taste of Jazz influnce along with rock and country.

  • The Doobies really got their hustle down here!!!!!!

  • This is just wonderful. I suspect it's a Michael Mcdonald influence that made this sound so jazz.

I got into Doobies on the back of this album and "Livin' on the Faultline". Much of their other material is a bit country rock for me, still brilliantly played but without the rich harmonic structure. Oh well, to each his own.

  • @Moggggpiano I agree. Much of their earlier comps were that. Cotton Mouth from Toulousse Street 1972 was my favorite pre Micheal McDonald Doobie Brothers because of the Memphis-New Orleans Horns Section. You got to have that plus Funky Soul Sound. The Bass is the key to any style of Music.

  • They will always be great.

    Thank you for sharing.

    Copa.

  • A dose of sunshine for you ears

  • Still thrilled and with that great FEEL just as you just commented, Phil, like dancing in the streets, alright, aye!!!

    LOVELY AND A-BREEZIN', SWAYING S S S L L L K K K......hahahaha...

THAT REAL MICK HUCKNALL & THE REDS, NOT MAKE BELIEVE, SIMPLY, RED PURE MAGIC, INDEED

    ,)

  • Ah, a breath of fresh air : ) *****

  • One of their best! Love this album! Thanks for sharing!

  • @ph1lanthrope Great··········
