all this debate over 2and 4 stroke. I used to own a 200x rebuilt-never could hold a candle to a 350x speed wise. I got rid of that and now i ride a 450r ( yes it's fast but I had to put the hrc kit in it) I have a rebuilt 03kx250 that will take my 450. soon I will be getting a 84 tecate and I'll let you know-grow a pair get a 2stroke come on out of the closet and experience an adrenaline rush with a smile or smell my exhaust

Even the 350X would get creamed by the mighty R! You can't compare a 2-stroke motocross style engine to any 4-stroke of the '80s even remotely in the same size range.
is it bad that my 200x goes about 70mph like would it hurt the tranny or fry my valves? its bored .40 over and a lot of other mods i dint feel like typing them :)
i have a 200x it tops at 62mph it is jetted but not bored i have a supertrap dirtbike exhaust on it new pistons, , it sounds awesome,and im currently looking for a boost bottle but i can beat stock suzuki z400 off the line easily and i can beat any three hundred and some 400's on my 200 foot dirt track in my back yard, 200x's are awesome
You can beat anyone off the line, just say "GO!" before they're ready. Post a vid of you out doing the 400ccs on a 200x and I'll believe it. Not trying to be an ass but thats a big statement with a piped 200x. And dont look for a boost bottle, it wont make a noticeable difference like a larger carb, and being as you have a different exhaust it'd be a good idea to get a new carb.
@logan570 Go hi comp.. diff cams.. bigger carb.. port and polish.. not much you can do to them but with those mods alone youll have a mean little 200x.

You're looking right around 52-53 AT MOST, not even I could get my 200X up to 62 with a 218cc stroked out motor that has WAY more balls than a stock engine. I had it geared to 13/37 too.

My 350x with an 11:1 comp piston will flat out haul, but my piped and carbed Z will blow its doors off any day. I'll take the 4 poke for slow trails and the 2 smoke for fast fun riding.

If anything is going to grenade on you, it is going to be a 4 stroke that's been pushed well beyond its limits, because of the ENTIRE way a 4 stroke operates. 4 strokes are designed for TORQUE and lots of linear power. They are NOT intended to be ran at 8000rpms+ which a 2 stroke can do very easily. I bet you also didn't know that a 250CC 2 stroke has the same power as a 450CC 4 stroke. Tecates are 37HP stock.
You four-poke guys are pretty cocky to say you can beat an R. I dought your wheelers can ride a wheelie in 5th gear going 70. Just admit your too damn scared to handle a 2-stroke's arm ripping powerban.
ahhh there we go.. a logical explanation to 2-stroke haters.. Its allright though when i was 5 or 6 i was always afraid of my dads kx250 and stuck with our 4 stroke quad.... eventually i grew up though and just bought a tecate atv and a 250r(also have a 400ex so i guess i go both ways)
I had a 85 ATC250r, there was 10 or so 350x's that would show up where we used to ride. I've never felt like Jeremy McCrath more in my life. It was a blast passing those guys at will. Several of the 350x's blew up. They just couldn't stand hard running as well as a 250r
@250sxwheeliepop 350X and 1st gen Tecates are pretty much equal regarding top speed and around the track, with the Tecate being able to creep away a few MPH faster, stock vs stock. Of course that's mostly due in part of the fact that the 350X has a 6th gear, and the Tecate only 5, but the Tecate is still quicker off the line from it's gearing. That is why the 2nd gen Tecates are faster than any stock trike out there, because of that 6th gear, which I've heard is pretty long...
Sorry but the 2-stroke had the advantage!

350x's are very fast but the 250r's are legends. I own neither so not being one sided. I don't mind sitting back and watching the view on my 200x.
