I think Addie always tried to have it both ways. In that flashback of when Derek found out, she clearly wanted him and begged him to stay. After he left, she tried it out with Mark so she wouldn't feel so horrible about her mistake. Once that didn't work out, she made a last ditch effort to reunite with Derek... Honestly, I think Addie has always loved Derek. She just used Mark to get Derek's attention and then to make herself feel better.

Addison should've known better than to think Mark could somehow be a better boyfriend/husband than Derek though.. You have to feel bad for her cause she essentially threw away 11 years of marriage for a guy who ended up cheating on her.

it's not about that, it's about addison having a relationship with mark and lying about. whe she came to get derek back she kept saing "it was just one time. forgive me forgive me." that was a lie. derek didn't lie to her. he told her he was in love with meredith and they were already seperated when he started dating mer. i still think he's an A-HOLE for not telling mer about addie, and i feel bad for addie sometimes, but anyways...

Mark/Addie was a one-night stand. She stayed with Mark shortly after, but then Derek went to Seattle & had a one-night stand with a girl without even knowing her name. Neither told the other. Derek even admitted himself that he was equally liable to blame for the breakdown of their marriage, as he was an absent husband & never there. I don't like Derek, but at least Addie never labelled him McDreamy & put him on a pedestal. And their relationship was far more believable & realistic for it.

I totally agree with you. I still think that Addison and Derek were the perfect couple although all their problems. They are mature, realistic, reasonable and come on, they have a great chemistry on the screen. Meredith and Derek relationship is, at least for me, kind of odd...

Derek was with Meredith after he left Addison. Addison was with Mark before Derek left her.

Derek left Addison way before her one-night stand with Mark. He even admitted it. He was a lousy husband, but as usual he plays the Martyr act. So glad Addie told him where to go. She deserves better !

@AddieFan2008 But he didn't cheat, did he? Not until the marriage was for sure over, and he was on the verge of getting a divorce.

In reality, being a workaholic and unavailable is bad, for a husband. But Addy could have initiated the divorce if she herself knew that Derek was a shitty husband. So yes, he agreed he was a lousy husband, but it didn't give her the right to cheat. At least *he* didn't cheat or do anything else morally wrong.

I think he wanted to make sure things were real and actual feelings emerged.
