That's actually very debatable. One Piece was made in Japan and originally showed in Japan. The original intended viewers saw it in their native language without the need for subtitles. So this would be closer to watching it "properly" than the way you described.

@FreeBirdZKai I have noticed that on videos about American shows that are dubbed into other languages the Americans insults the people that speak that language and says that they should watch it in the original English instead but on Anime shows many Americans dont want to watch it in the original Japanese and insults the people that think you should watch it in the original language.

Seems its different if its an American show and if its a show from a different country.

I meant that Americans hates it and complains when other countries dub American shows instead of watching it in English but many of them refuses to watch Anime shows in Japanese.

Shows are almost always the best in the original language because thats the language and voice actors the show was made for.

Many jokes and things about the culture gets lost in foreign dubs.

And here in Sweden we watch stuff with subtitles all the time.

yeah you are right about the jokes being lost and some parts would be pretty hard to dub while still making sense (like the reaction of franky when he thinks people say pervert when they say formation)

@dogpile01 I will agree that OP is one of their better ones, but wordplay is only one of my reasons. The second would be the characters themselves. The voices usually mimic the characters personality so Luffys voice is goofy and slightly childish, but can be really threatening when needed. In the dub its something of mid teenage with a slight undertone of serious, not not really threatening.

@dogpile01 A third thing would be my hate for dubs. If i am watching anything thas originally english, i want to hear english. If im watching an old chinese movie i want chinese, if im watching german i want german. Dubs make for annoying lines just so they can fit into the mouth movement and that ends up some times being silly. Not to mention it also makes screams be words in some cases.
