It is quite ironic that a developped country such as France would go against freedom of speech just as Turkey has done with their law which prohibits anyone from insulting Turkishness.Whether or not the genocide did occur is not the issue. Yes I am aware Pamuk was aquitted. It still does not change the fact that freedom of speech is quite limited in Turkey. It is also unfortunate that many of the comments made by Turks on this site, set a very bad example of Turkey. I wish people who have nothing but bad language and insults to say would abstain from making comments. They are only making Turkey look bad. They should be embarrassed!

Scrap 301 and scrap this French law. In the Turkish Penal Code there are other articles that prohibit hate speech and inciting hatred. They will suffice. 301 is an article that hampers Turkey's progress.

Go and learn some history. When we conquested the Istanbul in 1453. Fatih gave all right to Orthodox. Orthodox church is everytime freedom in Turkey. Armanian do thier worship with their own language thats why Orthodox church didn't like them. Look the East Rome Empire (Byzans) did. Poor Armenian found some peace after Ottoms manage the Anatolia nearly 600 years. Than I World War started. Rusia and France gave them guns, uniform and they rebeled. Then Ottoms relocationed them to Syria.
