  • damn i wish i had parents like you...

  • but the kid didnt really hang glide so what is the point of the videos name

  • this has always been my dream but i'm broke right now

  • I am going hangliding for the first time when I vacation in Australia. I am a little nervous, but excited at the same time.

  • great vid.!!.

  • Shorter people, that are relatively heavier than same height children, often have a problem with acceleration of the glider in order to launch. Since their strides are so short, it is difficult stretch far enough for speed. That is why cheetahs are the fastest animals....their gait stride reach 28 feet! How one solves that is learn how to move your legs faster which will take some working out.

  • @johnmatylonek why dothey quite before 70?

  • wow now theyre probally like 18 and 16

    lol they grow up fast

  • i want a hang glider i don't have one no fair

  • DAMN RIGHT, if this kid can hang glide SO CAN I. first thing im gonna do is to buy a cheap hang glider from youtube and then im gonna thro myself of the first cliff i see.

  • WHoaa he almost went 3 feet in the air

  • I just started paragliding. I zigged when I should have zagged. Damn.

  • it's alot harder than it looks :(

  • Nice

  • please watch youtube.com/watch?v=vqTyaZnpUNc and tell me if it is broken or okay

  • What a great father!!

  • Shoot her off a cliff she'll learn faster, thats how in Greece Spartans taught their kids. But back then they sent them off to fight forest animals on their own.

  • i want one how much r they

  • They start at around $3000. Lessons are about $100 each.

  • Where do you want to fly, USA or somewhere in Europe?

  • Good job, looks like the kids had a good time...

  • You look like a great dad. Keep up the good work!

  • i was thinking the same thing...

  • i was just in san francisco watching hang gliders who were going up 700 feet

  • how much does a normal good hang glider cost ?

    thanks

  • 2000-3000$

But they have great ratios like 15-20 meters for ever meter drop.

Or you can make your own

600$ with a high chance of fatality

Most homades dont have luff lines, so when you stall, you die.

  • Haha.

Thank you a lot for the information :)

  • Where's some info on how to make your own. The biggest hill within 200 miles of where I live is a man-made 20 foot levy, so I'm not to worried about crashing. I just want to experience it

  • DO NOT MAKE YOUR OWN! There are many good used (and certified) gliders out there for a decent price. GET INSTRUCTION and fly safely.

  • "Extreme" is how everyone sees it. One must be able to talk in terms and perceptions the uninitiated use. One must relate and than guide the interested into the sport.

  • I can't believe you put bungee jumping in line with skydiving and hgliding!? So why don't you put rollercoasters in there, too? BuJu is a tourist attraction, it's a ride... and not an (extreme) sport!!! Seriously, videos like this and the description just p... me off! You give people the wrong impression of what HG is. At launch I've been asked before, how much it is to rent a glider and just fly with it down the (1300m) mountain. I'm sure you are a good instructor but this is the wrong approach

  • how much is this?

  • i want to have fun with it one day , singapore ..

  • John is a great instructor and I thank him for helping me achieve my dream of flight.

  • I have dream to fly many years, but I live around very conservative family and am afriad they will think I went off on the deep end :\

  • Go for it! If they don't support you in your dream, then that's sad, but you should do it for yourself. I'm doing a 9 day course in October, WOO!

  • I have very happy for you! I hope you experiencing the wonderful and fascinating world of flight!

  • Just do it! quite simply.... who gives a damn what they think?

  • not really kids...

  • great little flights - ideal sandy surface

    for young learners . . . don't flare too

hard in a fresh breeze or you might be

    blown over backwards.

  • ROCKET MANNNNNNN!

  • I glad i ran of a cliff i was 75ft off ground and sadly i let go and i fell 75ft in ocean water kinda hurted but glading is awsome im better now :D

  • WHUT.

  • even if you let go your strapped in

  • man give me the money and i'll stand up from my computer instantly =P

  • That's great, hang gliding is so fun, amazing experience!

  • thats cool i want to learn how now. and what ur problem with lit kids flying things? I hate it when adults or anyone thinks we can't do stuff just because we are little or younger

  • Comment removed

  • what an enspiring film !

and i have been flying for years

  • i have allways wanted to do that

  • im a pilot and i think this kid will make it check out how he keeps running in the air tha is the sign of a reel pilot and good teacher

  • I started flying in 91, in the Alps. I continued flying in Monterey and Reno. During those years, I've been fortunate enough to meet nothing but great people who are quick to lend a hand and advice to anyone who expresses interest. Even paraglider pilots are okay...just kidding. Nothing like flying. Just do it.

  • great to see this. I learned hang-gliding with 16 and know, 26 Years after I will learn it to my daughter.

  • Yes, everyone should have a father as you are. Well done.

  • Am also teaching my 11 yo son how to fly hang gliders.I am using hand tow method on beach which seems to work well.Well done, great to see this,

  • Stop looking at your bicycle tire! I love it. see you this summer. Jeff

  • John, You forgot the part about getting someone's car out of the surf!

  • I also started at 13, now I fly my fathers Xtralite

just the best sport in world

    bye

  • i dont know very much about hang gliding but arent u supposed to get in the air?

  • Learning how to hang glide is like sking. You first learn on the bunny hill and escalate from there.

  • @johnmatylonek I am almost five feet tall(i'm 56 inches). will my height prevent me from learning this or will it make it harder for me to learn how to hang glide? I'm also only 130 lbs, will that go against me too?

  • @3333sweetie No it won't cause you any problems. There are both children and paraplegics with no legs who hang glide. Just get a good instructor with lots of teaching experience.

  • @SeanWyseman cool. how is beginner course different from the regular thing?

  • @3333sweetie Maybe I should have just said hang gliding course. Every course offering is different and promoted with different words and taught in the way each instructor likes to teach. All share the same exam questions and registration forms with USGHA.

  • @SeanWyseman is hang gliding strenous? do most ppl quit hang gliding b/c of that?

  • @3333sweetie I've never heard of anyone quitting because it was strenuous. You run for about 20 feet or less on takeoff and once launched you shift your weight back and forth to steer. You set the glider up and you tear it down when you're finished. When wind conditions are not just right you wait around a lot reading, yakking, and sitting. Strenuous -- not really as far as sports go. Go try it. You can ask a million questions but try it and you'll know. Get a tandem flight and you'll know.

  • @SeanWyseman No no, I mean, is it strenuous carrying the glider up the hill with the sail, wind blowing, etc? Do most ppl who do hang gliding stay or leave it?

  • @3333sweetie You may be required to get the glider up the bunny hill while learning. Some trainers will do it for you - but most get you to do it yourself. Some people do all or most of their training by tandem glider -- meaning little or no bunny hill hauling. BUT after basic training you are not doing much strenuous activity. Remember the exercise is good for you. It burns fat and leaves muscle. Healthier. Most pilots seem to quit before they are 70. Many still flying in their 50's and 60'.s

  • @kashi239 i'd like to see you go as high as 10m on your first time. even if you can (it's not THAT hard) you'll be scared as hell trying to land for the first time.

10m is enough to break your legs, dont forget :P so i repeat johnmatylonek here; first the bunny hill, then escalate.

  • nic4

  • Nice.

  • Thank god for fothers like that. I was also teached when I was 11 years old by my fother :)
