Anyways, as already pointed out, the "440 stainless" is apparently a huge tipoff to poor quality. I know nothing about steel types (and would appreciate information beyond Wikipedia), but a 440 stainless sword is display-only.

it works great for a cheap small pocket knife or kitchen knife when not too much pressure is applied on them, how ever, it does not work well on a katana that actually requires a slight bending on impact to absorb shocks.
