Was a great commercial. Extremely well done. It is almost a spoof of the opening scene in the movie musical Funny Face.. search Kay Thompson Funny Face here on youtube and watch that video, Think Pink
I was reminiscing about this commercial the other day so I searched it out. This ad campaign was phenomenal and I remember the excitement and the visits to the Vancouver store and the 25000 dollar flat panel tvs... What do you mean we could hang a tv on our wall??? anyway, I miss this kind of creative care in advertising...oh aubergine
Cute and cool how they copied some MGM musicals: Swimming women idea from "Bathing Beauty", Set with stairs and shiny trees from "Hollywood Revue of 1929", and song about a color from Paramount Pictures' "Funny Face". Wonderful! Sorry I am a great fan of musicals.
@juanieboy12 The debt to Funny Face’s “Think Pink” number is obvious even to the casual viewer, but as a non-fan I didn’t spot those other sources. Thanks for mentioning them.
One of the best. A Canadian Epic - but truly a sad denoument for the demise of a Canadian department store dynasty. The person posting this has excellent taste - and perhaps like myself, wish the advertisers could afford to do more of this sort of thing? It is a perfect example of the sponsor's message being more entertaining that the featured program itself. Who needs tripe on TV when we can have this?
What a fucking disaster. I'm sorry, people.
