Reg: All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
So, the celts burned down everything they themselves built as slaves and were ready to go back to their old ways without learning anything from the romans, what a bunch of smart people.
@InnarVen yeah, but they had had a society that worked just fine for years before the romans got there. and maybe they would have used the knowledge they had gained from the romans. but, at least with the romans gone, they would have been in charge of what happened on THEIR land.
I reckon if the Britons were able to retake all their land, Rome would no doubt send legion after legion in order to retake the place. More from pride and the need to show the world they were able to control and defeat any people.
Historians need to take metal detectors to the battle sites they think the Romans chose, there has to be even the smallest artifact, the britians rebels who died was up to 80,000,has to be something right??
Wattling Street. Gee whizz...even 2000 years ago the Brits had some stupid street names. Compare "Wattling Street" with more romantic names like Appian Way etc and you see what a poxy name it is.
7.19 - why is the word 'exit' written on the OUTSIDE of the helicopter's door?! lol
Grimrippa1 8 months ago
@Grimrippa1 For an emergency rescue.
jacksawild 4 months ago
@jacksawild an emergency rescue wouldn't see a door from the outside for what it is? Anyway, then it should say entrance not exit lol
Grimrippa1 4 months ago
@Grimrippa1 This isn't a debate. That IS why it is written on the outside.

@jacksawild lighten up a bit mate... and take your finger out of your ar$e

Many of the Roman soldiers were germanic too.

Not at this time, that wasn't until 300 years later

It is true, the ancient Britons were not germanic.
The Anglo Saxons were, however.

i find it very strange how no one has found the site yet :S
The number of bones, armour and coins left over from this battle must of been enormous and yet no one has found the site.

No, but the Germanic Saxons that conquered them named it Watling Street instead of something Gaelic.
Tareltonlives 2 years ago 6
