LOL 1 calamari, 2 transport 1 corvette and a dozen or so fifhters vs 1 SSD and 1 SD.... yeah the empire would deff loose that fight. Still an awesome game and great cutscenese for its age.
I don't see how a Super Star Destroyer can be easily destroyed by a Mon Calamari Battle Cruiser and a Tantive IV. In the movie, it showed an A-Wing flying into the bridge, which caused it to loose it its stabalizers and crash into the the Death Star II. Here, it looks like it went down to easily
For those saying the SSD would not be destroyed so easily I would suggest viewing the ending of X-Wing vs TIE Fighter Balance of Power Campaign - Rebel Victory, once the shields were out, a Corvette went on a suicide mission on to the SSD bridge and then a few B-wings launched a couple of rockets to take out the SSD. In this video, the two Medium transports probably did the same thing and rammed straight in to the 2 Imperial capital ships?
lol rebel star noobs need all those ships to kill 2 empire ships. more importantly if the empire is stupid enough to travel in small groups, and not destroyer wolf packs, then they deserves to die at the rebels hands.
@KODAKCAR4 - yeah! Everyone whines about hard it is to master the Y-wing, but only the truly great pilots are able to fly it successfully again and again.
I know it's only a game, but a bit of accuracy can go a long way! A Super Class Star Destroyer has more than enough offensive systems to take down all but the largest of Rebel fleets. Added to that the standard Imperial Star Destroyer escorts, it would be no mean feat going head to head against an SSD! Just don't start quoting that one lucky hit in Return of the Jedi!
Not exactly, during Empire win cutscene we see the Corvette crushed by the surprise attack, but the Mon Calamari Cruiser start to fire back at the first Star Destroyer, but when they appear quickly the other two, the Mon Cal is overwelmed by concentrate firepower and probably because gunners were busy to keep track of new incoming targets.
The game was fun, but it had stupid material. They had alot of interesting planets but they put some of it in the wrong sectors. They accidentally placed the planet Kirrek from comic Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi in the Outer Rim. Its in the Deep Core.
Has anyone considered that the Imperial fleet was damaged from a previous battle? Perhaps they were hiding from the Rebels while they made repairs. That'd explain the lack of shielding and poor structural integrity.
Perhaps. Otherwise, the Executor would have destroyed that small Rebel Fleet by itself. Even so, why didn't the Imperial ships fight back? Even damaged ships should be able to do something!
@girlgarde -- I dunno about that. The Home One-class cruisers are awfully big and powerful. And besides, if the Star Destroyers were damaged badly enough, it could be that their weapons weren't operational.
@girlgarde the ships from the Empire were not originally expected to fight ships of the same size, and were originally meant for planetary bombardment. Plus they were arrogant enough to put bridge shield generators (the globes the fighters blew up) in such an obvious place. In Return of the Jedi, when Admiral Ackbar commands Lando to get inside you can clearly see a Star Destroyer explode in a head to head with a Mon Calamari Cruiser. Also, up close (as Lando suggests) the SSDs can't do as much
This game has always been one of my favorite games and I still play it all the time. I never get tired of the immense pleasure of blowing the riff raff rebels to pieces again and again and again.
I dont get it. I dont get Rebellion. good game overall, but...1 tiny bomb blows up death star, no stormtroopers try to diffuse it. And now this. The Executor would PWN that n00bish fleet... How do you think they were winning? All the rebels had in this scene was a corvette, 1 cruiser, and a squadron of X-wings, and around three Y-wing squadrons. +2 gallofrees, which cant do a shit unless they plan on boarding, but the Executor would have blown the gallofrees to cow crap b4 they could.
Considering out cheap the stormtroopers armor is this hardly surprises me. I mean they call the ships hull plastisteel so is that a mixture of cheap plastic and medal?
I'm sorry, those spheres are shield generators, they are much stronger aswell, just cutscenes always show ships getting destroyed in seconds, they're not sensor globes, sheesh..
OK, so the guys who worked on the ACTUAL FILM are the ones who are wrong?!??! And never mind they look pretty much exactly like the radar domes on modern naval vessels.
Yes, The domes were a sort of cross in between. Let's just leave it at that, ok? That debate was declared a stalemate some years ago. Ok, maybe a decade ago. I mean, we have all these video games that say they are shield domes, but canon shows they are SENSOR domes! Even BF2 says they are shield domes. But still, some games stay true :). So stop argueing. We cannot risk useless debates among Star War's fanbase.
When? Did you not read my above post? Just because a bridge officer announces shields are down doesn't automatically prove that the dome that was destroyed was a shield generator. The crew on the freakin' film said they weren't shield generators!
Those aren't shield generators. They're sensor globes. Only complete idiots for engineers would make such vital systems like shields such easy targets.
Well, think about the events that happened in Return of the Jedi. A sensor globe on Executor is destroyed by a pair of A-wings and immediately afterward an officer on the bridge announces that the bridge deflector shield is gone. Now, does it make any logical sense that if the globe were a shield generator, that somehow it would not project the shield around itself as well as the rest of the ship?
You see, the destruction of the globe is indicitive of the fact that the bridge shields are down, not that the globe itself is a shield generator. Many fans saw that scene and mistakenly believed that as soon as the globe was destroyed, the shields went down. Does it make any sense from a ship builder's point of view, to construct an obvious weakspot that also does not protect itself with the shields it generates? And of course, many of those sources that you think of are written by fans.
This is from Wookieepedia: Richard Edlund, one of the SFX artists on ROTJ, noted in the February 1983 issue of Cinefex that the globes were "radar domes", i.e for sensor purposes. Later guidebooks from Dorling Kindersley performed what was said to be "the most thorough research done on the vehicles" according to a LFL blurb in Star Wars Insider 68. These books also labeled them as sensor globes, but with local-area shielding vanes, instead of being the main shield generators onboard the ship.
to be fair those shields could've been penetrated by focused fire on a single place (were the A-wings using consussion missiles or lasers i dunno). Arguing for the other side lulz
it was too easy. in the real battle scenes, most rebellion cruisers couldn't face the SSD. I cant believe the SSD just breaks apart after a few shots lol. oh well, if you get that scene, you must have been the rebellion and you still won.
I remember this game well. Even though EAW has it beat in most areas, there are a few things Rebellion did that EAW can't touch; mainly diplomacy and the hunt for the hidden Rebel base. I remember starting a few planetary revolts by using the Death Star too close to the Core; you don't see that in EAW..!
Not to mention the super star destroyer burst open like a ripe fruit. A massive space cruiser like that you'd think would be able to build safeguards in the superstructure to prevent fracturing.
They made it look easy taking out those shield towers. If I recall correctly, playing X-Wing, it took atleast 6 torps to take it out and I couldn't do it in one pass LOL.

I am a fan o the old schoold as well. Especially Zhan. I am also a collector of SW hasbro stuff. Just got an order today from Hong Kong of five AT At pilots. I thin bk they are from the OTC line, anyway they are late model figures.
I love this game and have been replaying it since its release. Did anyone notice the blooper at :30-34 where the 3 X-Wings shoot out the right shield generator, then the left one fades away after the right explodes? Then later at :45 the left generator is back...
Great strategy game. You people have to realize this is just a dramatization... I will agree they should've done a better job of this but oh well. I play it for the strategy aspect not the lil cutscenes at the end.
Wow, the largest starship in the galaxy and its lone Star Destroyer escort got pawned by 1 cruiser and a couple of slow Y-wings. I wonder what happened to its turbolasers, hundreds of TIES and the rest of its fleet? Mustv been on vacation
It makes no sense at all how ships of that size can easily be taken down. Regardless of the shields being destroyed (which the generators themselves should be protected). It seems completely unrealistic that a 16,000 meter ship can be taken down by a few hits of lasers or a random fighter rams into the bridge.
i agree no doubt but remember that by then they had like no resourses or anything so probably they were in pretty bad shape or nothing. either way by the time the empire looses they were pretty crappy at the end.
I think that the perfect game would be like Empire At War, but set between episodes 2 and 3. It would be brilliant, you could have yoda, mace windu, palpatine and many others as heroes.
I hope they do do a game like that, called Republic at War or summit.
i dunno, look at endor. a single Calamari cruiser with some smaller support ships took down the Executor. then again, it was a lucky hit by that a-wing into the bridge...
dang, this game looks friggin cool, all i have is X-wing alliance on my dad's windows 98, -.-'' but yeah, the Calamari cruiser should have lost, i tried have 3 of those against a typical ISD, their butts got whooped..
lol i hate the empire and well on Empire At War this is teconally what I do... the same thing i get a giant group of heros and high-class fighters and win
Well, let's not forget the awesome power of those two medium transports ;-)
I wonder why they didn't do something a bit more like the Empire loses cutscene, with at least three cruisers. Plus, I've never yet won as the rebels and faced an Empire that got far enough to deploy SSDs
And what help would that be? Ignoring the fact the SSD and ISD seems to be for some reason shieldless, since the fighters and bombers managed to destroy the sensor globes without the shields stopping them.
LOL 1 calamari, 2 transport 1 corvette and a dozen or so fifhters vs 1 SSD and 1 SD.... yeah the empire would deff loose that fight. Still an awesome game and great cutscenese for its age.

Wow, the largest starship in the galaxy and its lone Star Destroyer escort got pawned by 1 cruiser and a couple of slow Y-wings. I wonder what happened to its turbolasers, hundreds of TIES and the rest of its fleet? Mustv been on vacation

Supremacy in the EU, Rebellion in America.

The cutscene sucks. The game rules. Why didn't Empire at War do a good job? Then I wouldn't have to play Rebellion anymore! Wahhh
empty00eyesgmail 4 years ago
the prefect game would be, put EAW's graphics and land battle aspect, into Rebellion.
I still play rebellion, it just rocks :)nothing like seeing the concstruction bar being filled on your shipyards :)

I think that the perfect game would be like Empire At War, but set between episodes 2 and 3. It would be brilliant, you could have yoda, mace windu, palpatine and many others as heroes.
I hope they do do a game like that, called Republic at War or summit.

The game is sins of a solar empire..... Theres a mod being planned for it...

I agree. Nothing is more satisfying than building massive fleets of Star Destroyers and conquering the entire galaxy! :D
(And blowing up rebel fleets with the Death Star).

Erm I thought wekipedia said that a Home-One can can on a SSD if it did not take any previous damage?? And why did the SSD did not shot the Y-Wings??

dude I love this game
waywardson79 4 years ago
The rebs didn't even take damage wtf?! Weak very weak
technon01 4 years ago
Eh, the Imperials have been known to miss Main Characters in SW, what if the rebels hired all main characters and sent them there? :P

i dunno, look at endor. a single Calamari cruiser with some smaller support ships took down the Executor. then again, it was a lucky hit by that a-wing into the bridge...
renegaderifle 4 years ago
dang, this game looks friggin cool, all i have is X-wing alliance on my dad's windows 98, -.-'' but yeah, the Calamari cruiser should have lost, i tried have 3 of those against a typical ISD, their butts got whooped..
anzin94 4 years ago
no puedo creer que un crusero mon calamari rebelde le gane al executor!
egmrammstein 4 years ago
the SSD and the ISD didn't launch a single fighter (most likely didn't have any), and the x-wing and y-wing probably did most of the damage.

lol i hate the empire and well on Empire At War this is teconally what I do... the same thing i get a giant group of heros and high-class fighters and win

I can belive it, Y-Wings are the bane of Capital Ships, a Mon Cal had crap to do with it. Just a carrier for the Y-Wings.
ChaationBergin 4 years ago
Well, let's not forget the awesome power of those two medium transports ;-)
I wonder why they didn't do something a bit more like the Empire loses cutscene, with at least three cruisers. Plus, I've never yet won as the rebels and faced an Empire that got far enough to deploy SSDs
thegreenmanofnorwich 4 years ago
ROFL those rebels woulda got their asses handed to them

Riiiiight. A single Calamari Star Cruiser took out one ISD and a SSD.... *rolling the eyes*

i agree, ssd and isd would win:)
USSHornett 4 years ago
Hey buddy, it had a ton of help for your information.
h0nesttoafault 4 years ago
And what help would that be? Ignoring the fact the SSD and ISD seems to be for some reason shieldless, since the fighters and bombers managed to destroy the sensor globes without the shields stopping them.
