i have this problem today with songwriting...i wrote a pretty good chorus but now the other lines... i dont know what to do...and ive been writing and trying out things for two days and nothing good...and if sth comes out, i dpont know if its good or bad?
Momo reminds me of Nhu, the Dean of Gold Coast Chirstian Camp, and also the youth pastor of FCCBoca, he's just so inspiring, and so motivating, but also so cool...lol
The drawing exercise you came up with, having different pads on different categories, that's a great idea. Actually, the same principle should work for writing too. Pick a notebook for different topics and focus on them.
Main thing is to do it even when uninspired. As a writer I've found that many times inspiration doesn't come from nowhere, most of the time you lure it out by routines and practice.
method and content!!! those are the key i believe. momo, it blows me away how you dedicate so much of your time to helping others. you will be rewarded more than you can ever imagine. respect bro...
that's good shit dude . I do tattoos airbrushing ect ... and sometimes what I will do is draw a bit on a big sketch book ,Then just leave it open standing up in a spot so I will have to see it . then I will always want to add to it or change something .Out of sight out of mind.
Momo, you seriously rock! That is some incredible advice! I think there's a great chance that it will work for the person that wrote the letter. Well, we are all individuals, so there is no way to tell for sure, but at least I know that I've got that extreme urge to do it right now! Hope it works for you too 6evil6dead6! Get out there and blow them away.
Always good advice from Momo...Another thing you could do is start to research the greatest artists of all time at your local museum, bookstores, the Net, etc. What you keep your thoughts on expands...Then create something with a GOAL in mind, like getting your stuff in front of millions of people. Like Momo has said in his other vids: "Action=Reaction..." Something new HAS to happen... bob
This advice is right on the money!!! Keep up the good work Momo...BTW Your videos helped inspire me last year to get out of the rut I was in and get back on track -- thanks!
I think the biggest issue with artists hitting burnouts and not knowing how to start up again comes from lack of competition rather. Competition comes out of inspiration, when you surround yourself with other artists who are very skilled at what they do, inspiration comes like a flash. This is why a lot of artists create "sketchgroups" and online communities to share their work.
because looking back, i feel like i was Never surrounded by artistic-type of people. or at least not any serious ones. ive never really found people to play some tunes with [i play guitar]. never found people that are into video editing+sfx\3D animation,or graphic design like me. Which makes me think-how is it possible to live like that? when u just Cant share what u like with others?
feels like crap. like i couldve improved myself+my art if i found em
Pick them back up, man. Hey, you said you're into video editing? You can get Sony Vegas 8 Professional for free now a days. I've made a few vids experimenting, and it's just mad fun to use.
hey buddy :] well..softwares are not the problem really. hehe..there are Too much of them laying around :] its the people im looking for. im wondering if i could change something in my environment, that will spark a genuine creative flow for me. Whether its the people i hang out with? or whether its the place i live in. [wanna study graphic design in NYC,so i wonder if that would help it. but got no money+scholarships are SO Damn hard to find :\
Great advice. It can be fun trying to recharge the batteries of creativity by going to a museum, or other live event. Or researching who inspired some of the famous cartoonists or other artist of the old days.
I can relate, being someone who is creative and at some times, scatttered, it is easy to start a lot of things and not finish much because of lack of focus. And finishing gives you a great if not greater sense of accomplishment than the flash of creativity that started it all.
Remember, not everything creative will be kept or be usable. You have to work at it.
This is some great advice, Momo. I know that the really successful artists I know practice a lot- sometimes 2 or 3 hours a night every evening, and they just keep plugging away. One thing thats important to do is to shake things up by always learning new things, taking classes, stuff like that. It does take a lot of hard work, you are 100% correct. I'd also advise to take some sort of business basics course.

Sometimes doodling will shake something loose too. You aren't trying so hard then. Have one pad just for doodles.
