The main problem with LOTR is the lack of publicity. Not a day goes by without a mention on TV of 'Hairspray' or 'Wicked'. 'Wicked' is a fab show but LOTR just has the edge as far as I'm concerned. I can't comment on 'Hairspray' but if the original film with Ricki Lake is anything to go by I can't say that it can be terribly taxing on the brain!
If you look at the LondonTV review of it it says that tickets are available to September 2008. Wicked and YF are nothing compared to LOTR Musical. I'm going to see it for the 2nd time and I can't wait! Totally awesome. As they say, a must-see! Hope they have the soundtracks though this time!
Never would happen sadly. The two theatres that could house it have two big shows already.. YF at the Hilton and Wicked at the Gershwin. Unless there is another one I don't know about.
I actually think that they may have plans to bring it over to NY in a few years. Tha could be wrong and could change but if its successful in London theres prob a really a good chance that they will bring it over...at least i hope that they will!
Do you know the cost of employing a large cast, crew, and paying the bills? lol. If the show isn't selling out nightly it is tough maybe with the release of the cast recording will generate some interest again.
LOTR is definitely not closing in May 2008! 'Young Frankenstein' has flopped though hasn't it? Shame - I can quote whole scenes from the film. I understand that it was coming to London but it has been put on hold for the time being.
Drury Lane is real ???? :O

Again..the show is supposedly closing in May 2008 to a great loss(might be a rumor) but with Wicked and YF going strong there isn't a place for it.
Amocktus 4 years ago
closing????? why? surely they could cut some corners effects wise and keep it on stage.
