  • "The soul-less aproach to fabric collection fills an emptyness on my heart. A hole made by the cold face of life, the sad storms of endav- MOOOM WHERE IS MY REEEED VELVEEET"

  • You make quilts, dude. You're trying to make it appear cooler than this is. Get over yourself.

  • haha. this dude is funny. It's cool though, interesting. It was like listening to a sci-fi book being read out loud. it's a very cool vid, but I wouldn't buy the quilt though. it's well-made, but I'd buy a stellar painting instead. The colors would be way brighter. Maybe he could look for fabric with not such dull colors. It would really reflect space then.

  • well that's 4 minutes and 21 seconds I'll never get back

  • Why didn't "Grandma" give him a sewing machine? He must be a sewing cyborg or it takes a really long time to deliver vinegar and salt. By the way, what caused the increased need for vinegar? What does vinegar do that the multitude of other acids which can be much more easily transported can't?

  • beautiful.

  • Wait, now that I'm reading the comments...was this supposed to be serious?

This has to be a spoof.

  • HA HA HA

    This is awesome.

  • What the almighty fuck

  • What the HELL?

  • this sounds like a Heaven's Gate exit speech, but less enthusiastic

  • The quilt was lovely though.

  • Oh my god laughing out loud what?

  • I this this is great as a short film. I hope that guy is giggling behind the camera, though. If he's serious, I'm a little concerned. I liked the ruler tattoo on his finger. That's problem really useful for a seamstress. I liked the video better than the quilt.

  • I genuinely wish this man was dead

  • You're quilts look very nice, but I prefer to buy from vendors I can trust to still be living on planet Earth when my package needs to be shipped.

  • As soon as he mentioned interplanetary travel, I stopped listening. Anyways, that's a pretty quilt.

  • Lovely quilt - would have liked to see *more* of it. The videography was fabulous, as well as the sound. The quilt artist - handsome, and has a nicely shaped head from all views. The "story line" - wow - wasn't expecting that ! The "story" alone would determine my decision to not hit the "add to cart" button (just came back from the etsy shop) . Other than that, very well documented and somewhat soothing. His voice would be nice for books on tape or bedtime stories.

  • This is the most retarded over dramatic piece of vomit I have seen from etsy in a long time. Well done.

  • wow.... i made it to a whole 57 seconds in...that is some kind of record right ? tell me i win something and that its not one of those shit quilts.

  • @actionbrad actually- i stand corrrected- the quilts are actually pretty kickass amazing. unfortunately, this video is pretntious boring crap. but, do look at the quilts. pretty cool.

  • Grandma programs come standard on most ships these days? This is the most self-agrandizing masturbation session I've ever seen. You happened to watch all the original Star Trek episodes in between researching Gees Bend for your final dissertation and this is the result. Give yourself a round of applause, oh wait, your hand is busy somewhere else...

  • @sugartones "This is the most self-agrandizing masturbation session I've ever seen" ... best quote ever!

  • This belongs on Everything is Terrible

  • uh..... what kind of BS is this?

  • I would like to see this video remade by Tobias Funke.

  • @RawrLiger damn it, you beat me to it! A+

  • Oh lol

  • Oh, the quilt is pretty rad though,

  • This is a fine example of the weirdness of Etsy. This is the most overdramatic and bizarre 'advertisement..?' I've seen in my life. Basically... WTF

  • that was hilarious!

  • "the most simple instrument".....can still be the most complex implement of pretentiousness and idiocy.

  • So this is what a cult recruitment tape looks like.

  • Etsy Cupcakes: You do realize that the internet is laughing at you, right?

  • This is what the WWII veterans saved humanity for? Fuck, man...

  • Poet or mental patient? So hard to tell.

  • What. The. Hell???

  • Ahahaha! Interesting presentation.

  • Love the presentation and the quilts !

  • Whoa...I was going to buy a quilt, but I don't have a spare 12,000 on me.

  • wow this video is amazing! I cant believe so many people are hating on it. You guys need to open up your mind. dont be so quick to judge and just accept it!

  • I really want a grandma program.. it isn't standard on our ship ... ! hahahahah!! Love the quilts, they're really amazing, great designs and fabulous work, however I find the video rather pretentious and let the quilts down. I like the pictures but it's the monotone monologue which I don't like. I would have preferred it if he spoke in a normal voice, not putting on this 'I am an extraterrestrial being' voice.

  • this is a bit creepy...nice quilt though

  • One of the best Handmade Portraits, if not the best. Love it. <3

  • I thought the presentation had a lot of character!

  • he's really cool.

  • Fantastic, love the concept. Check out the other quilts at Etsy, pretty cool.

  • only one quilt in this vid? and you can hardly see it.

  • @unicornhustler That's because the video is about him. If you want to see his quilts, though, you can click the link to his etsy.

  • @RaeLynnShikure but etsy is about the crafts, not as much about the quirkiness of the artists. seeing more items from the artist would lead me to his etsy page, not this video.

  • "Grandma programs come standard on most ships nowadays." hahahahaha that made me lol!

  • presentation was interesting, 2 diff concepts

  • Also love how the artist has measurements tattood on his forefinger-how 'handy'!!!!

  • I enjoyed it-thinks it's a great way to showcase your work in a different way-very creative!

  • I'm glad Etsy is doing pieces on artists with something more interesting to say than "Hi this is me and my cutesy-pootsy workspace and look at my wacky mustaches on a stick I made! Read my blog!"

If they just had the artist just talk about finding fabric, then sewing it, then selling it, we'd never really learn anything about HIM.

I think this is a healthy step away from everything that has spawned RegrEtsy and a step toward taking handmade art seriously, rather than as a trite consumer trend.

  • i like the presentation!! why the fuck doesn't everyone else?

  • Video is too Weird, Distracts from a beautiful art form and beautiful quilt!

  • Awesome!___(Point Blank!)

  • So....he sells weird art films or quilts? Since I couldn't see barely anything of the quilts, mostly saw clouds and angle shots of a head.....

  • beautiful quilt but..what a weirdo!

  • amazing quilt... and it is cool that the new handmade portraits are more focused on the individual but... it was a bit unbearable... and the quilts should have been featured more...

i miss the old handmade portraits.

  • Hmmm, I think someone forgot to take there meds.

  • I thought this was wonderful. The creativity, imagery, and imagination in this creates something more than a quilt and a man. I can see why some people didn't like it, but I think making things is all about expressing yourself which is what was done perfectly here :]

  • I'm suprised to see some of the comments here are negative feed back about the presitation. I thought it was creative and neat how this guy has built this story around his craft/talent. Alot of artist do that too! Makes the creative process all that more enjoyable.

  • Wow this was just odd. I much prefer the older etsy handmade portrait videos.

  • I love the quilt, but the presentation was just odd. I couldn't even focus on the cool cinematography... too trying and not enough about the art.

  • Oh brother.

"The year is 1524 PC...." GMAFB

And they wonder why we should be concerned..... this guy is delusional and etsy is cracked for featuring him.

  • interesting.... but, unless he's selling "presentations" i think the video should have focused on his quilts...

  • hmm.. wish they would show more of the art of it all..

  • I loved it.

We all have fantasy worlds built up inside our heads... He just wasn't afraid to share his.

    Beautiful.

  • @emmawesome1 I agree. It's makes it more special when you get a glimpse into someone's fantasy. That's probably why they've started creating in the first place.

  • quilt is amazing-to bad he didn't show more of his work

  • seriously, who came up with this concept?..really pretentious and annoying.

  • Yeah but the presentation was of the quilt and where his imagination takes him is where his ideas come from. My opinion is that it was outstanding and he is so much more than that---very talented!!!

  • A little cliche, but the cinematography was beautiful!

  • This was a little too creepy for my taste.

  • Good Job.

  • Uuuh what does a space station and giant flowing pillars of gas have to even remotely do with a cotton hand sown quilt?

I understand this is trying to be artsy, but this is grossly overboard.

  • Yeah, I miss the old Handmade Portraits. I like learning about the artists and their workplaces.

  • This video rocks, thanks for presenting this in an interesting way. Your quilts rock too.

  • Incredible quilt and ingenious ruler tattoo!!

  • I met this guy in the outter rings of gothsemani....he owes me a beer

  • Video was a bit to out there for me. Miss the simplicity of how the videos used to be. The quilt however was amazing.

  • Ok, well the presentation was "different" but I've learned that crafters are creative people so to each his own. :o)

The quilt was really pretty. And the concept of the ruler tattoo on the finger was kinda neat. LOL, with that, you should never have to worry about getting your 1/4" seam allowance wrong. :o)

  • i dont like watching artsy shorts :/ i liked when these were humble, and i got to know a little background of the person, with the focus being the product and how/why it was made. that quilt was so amazing, i wish i got to hear more about it...

  • Trying way too hard...

  • beautiful quilts. Dumb video. The old videos were inspiring on a truer level. We got to see how the artists lived, and how their lives and art evolved to fit each other.

  • lovely and engrossing. Your quilts are fabulous. Well done you sir. xxx

  • I too like the older style of Handmade portraits. I want to know about the artist and more about their products.

  • are the artist writing the things they are saying by themselves?

the ending of the video with the wall reminds me a bit of the ending of "the little prince" by antoine de exupery ... ... :) wonderful .. :)

  • old Handmade Portraits were cooler.

  • Comment removed

  • LOVE the quilt. Not a fan of the presentation.

  • very cool!

  • wtf

  • Awesome!! I love the Indy style to these videos!!

  • beautiful

  • Best finger tattoo ever! Really cool video.
