I am very happy to see the vidoe after you give this couches and desks- and a combination of the above- that are so highly engineered that they gracefully transform into beds.
I Love The Video It Can Increase My Knowledge Resource Furniture sells bookshelves, couches and desks- and a combination of the above- that are so highly engineered that they gracefully transform into beds.
@huntersmith64 In the U.S. they're distributed by Resource Furniture. I have a link to their site on the original story on faircompanies (link above). Though in other countries you might try looking up one of their main manufacturers, Clei (an Italian company).
He's a big guy, he should have gotten on the beds to show that they're sturdy. They look fragile especially the top one of the bunk beds. Kids are bigger day by day
College dorm :) can u guys make a refrigerated keg that folds into the wall? Or make a computer desk that can double as a couch? How much do these cost?
That's awesome. But with morris beds, surely you have to pull all the pillows and whatnot off before you fold it up so that they don't fall down and get stuck in the thingymagig...?
im confused. for the unit at 2:40, how does the table work? it isnt a simple hinge design as with the shelves on the other models. its construction only allows the table to move along the z axis and not x or y (so it only goes up and down). good design
I just got one very good idea that can make me rich using all of thes things, the problem is i dont have money, to get rich you have to be rich, or at least have some money! ohh well
I would love to see what his people can do with the new Prius V? I bet he would have a popup camper that would be able to fully support a couple complete with matching mopeds? Imagine a motorhome that could get 40 mpg?
the reason why we have to do this is because of all the people in the world having unprotected sex, maybe if we stop helping people in 3rd world, it will reduce the problem of overpopulation
It's really good design but the pricing is stupid: people with enough money to buy these furnitures have enough money to buy big space in which they don't need foldable furnitures...
I could do without the attidute of judgemental, self-righteous indignation toward people who just want to be comfortable while sleeping. However, this setup is, without question, "baller."
I like the ideas from a designer's point of view. But I wish societies address the REAL problem: instead of finding ways to fit humans into tinier and tinier spaces, why not find ways to keep our population down?
We are taking it for granted that populations MUST keep going up. WHY is that so important for us? Why not visualise a planet with population between 3 and 4 billion, giving ourselves plenty of space and resources and great quality of life? Why do humans value quantity over quality?
I love how when he explains the furniture, it all of the sudden it turns into a bed. What next? "This toilet 3ft tall and can also be used as a sink. With a flip of a few small adjustments you then have a king size bed.."
the thing is u cannot do all things at same time like drinking coffer in table while others want to sleep lol ^^ it should be done one by one :) no one sleep till someone not finish yet her/him coffee
They keep saying that it saves money, but I doubt this stuff is cheep. So I don't think you're really saving that much. Maybe it'll be cheeper in a few years.
@JoshuaAlexandre They're not cheap. Much more expensive than buying a bed and a desk or whatever, but it's about buying space I suppose. Though I like the idea that's been suggested here of trying to build your own... at least for the DIY types. And that way you can use the materials you choose.
@JoshuaAlexandre The idea is that if you are in an urban setting where you are paying an extremely high rent for a limited space, you save money in the long run by creating rooms that can do more, rather than paying more rent for more rooms.
@Romashk Did you see the orange storage bin underneath? I am pretty sure you put them in there. My friend has a retractable table and it came with the underneath storage cabinate. (sp?)
i think all of these are great ideas and designs. But what I'd probably hate the most would be having to open&close my bed every night and every morning and before closing it you need to fasten the strap so the sheets don't fall off. If there was a mechanism that makes your bed automatically and then puts your bed in place, it would be perfect. And I am sure that we'll see that in the years to come.
more moving parts = more chance something breaks + for the money you spend on this you can buy a biger place + cheaper furniture. I like the concept BUT only as a concept cuz this thing doesnt make much sense....7-12k for a bad and a shelf is a lil too much especially when marketed as a thing that "saves" your money buy aloving you to rent/buy a smaller (and cheaper) flat/house
I dislike Murphy beds that are nothing but a bed that looks like a wardrobe but you can't use it for anything else. I like the ideas shown here... and some of them look like they could be possible to recreate yourself. You probably won't be able to operate it with your fingertips, but hey, you'll be saving a trip to the gym - and a few thousand bucks as well.
@pmoraisjr This is Resource Furniture's showroom in New York City. They are a distributor for different space-saving furniture manufacturers. Most of the beds are made by Clei which are designed and made in Italy.
In a highly populated area where $/sqft is high, I could see this being quite useful. I'd personally enjoy a more barebones cheaper version without hydraulics, but I love the designs and engineering involved in these. Efficient and minimalist, just how I like things. Consider that a bed renders the entire volume above it useless, and most homes cost $70-100/sqft, so getting back maybe 24sqft is worth quite a bit, you don't have to buy such a big house if you save a lot of space.
all those beds look REALLY uncomfortable. I don't know if anyone noticed but they're all strapped in too which would probably make them even less comfortable.
Cool furniture but unfortunately they are always ridiculously expensive. Hopefully IKEA copies this and sells it for a reasonable price, forcing the original designers to charge a reasonable price.
This stuff is really good. But its price out of my budget. The rich don't need to save space they them self live in 3000 sq ft homes and bigger. Its use that live in 1000sq ft homes need those ideas!! There four in my family. I really look at this idea for the boys room. Dose anyone remembers christopher lowell he give lots of idea for small place. He did a diy murphy bed you could make your self. He was a head of his time. Would be nice if IKEA would!!
@Tonks1967 Yep, I definitely remember Christopher Lowell. His first show where he really showed you how to DIY many items was "Interior Motives". His show after that was OK but lost the focus I think of his original show even though it was extended to 1 hour. I totally agree with you, he was ahead of his time
Nice concepts. I wonder if one could combine such mechanisms with a bit of DIY (to make it cheaper / change the style / make it + minimalistic, etc.) I'd like to see them in a nice wood, etc. A Dutch company turns recycled newspaper into a nice "woodish" composite. I'd buy the concept and mechanism and would adapt it to both my taste and needs.
@nicolasboullosa Good point. You can definitely DIY a Murphy bed. The hydraulics and extras on these might make it more difficult to do yourself, but am sure there are people up to the task. Love the idea of customizing them.
@nicolasboullosa, With a couple hydraulic gas struts ~$20ea from automotive/camper market, shouldn't be that difficult for DIY. Can get more idea's from goggling images for fold away wall beds. One such image has lcd tv at bottom of bed that becomes wall PC when bed folds up.
@ericnovak They're not cheap. About 7-12K for the Clei beds. It's a lot, though I suppose you're buying not just the couch/desk/bed (or whatever combination), but hopefully, also an extra room.
I do love the beds for box rooms and spare beds (because the idea of keeping an entire spare room only used a few times a year for guests strikes me as mad), but for my own bed... nah. The tables are amazing though!
@Hossified Agreed there's still more room for improvement with regards for lifting/safety for kids and the elderly. But I'd rather people just stopped having so many damn babies that we wouldn't have to worry about space.
Wow! Heaven sent ingenious... but how much???

It’s funny how they advertise this as the new way of living. But really, people are forced to live in smaller area’s because RE keeps going up.
RE goes up because the government continue to low rates and print money like crazy.
