@nausea87 Ned is always looking to meet musicians to try out designs. Our paths crossed a few years ago, since we live in the same small state. He's just a regular guy doing extraordinary things, and he is very interested in what people do with his instruments.
Ned is a great guy ! As one of the first Steinberger endorsers I've had him help me with a lot of mods thru the years. Question: What is a NS Boomerang ?
@Vazmusic It's a strap system that Ned developed for the Omni Bass, similar in function to the pivot plate on the XL2 basses, but totally rethought. I love it on my guitar.
Can anyone tell me how to write to Ned Steinberger? Email would be preferred. Since I can't seem to find any places locally that know anything about the design I need some input straight from the "horses mouth". I have Steinberger Spirit (wish I had a couple of my old pre-Gibson Steinbergers though, but the Spirit is not a bad guitar for the price). Interesting video.
Seeing this video gives me courage to install a Synapse strap hook to my Spirit XT2DB. I thought the hook was installed on a recessed cavity, but here I see the hook is installed over the body. I love how careful Ned Steniberger works, a true artisan.
Damn, besides being a genius this guy keeps so level headed...just imagine, when you mention his surname every guitar and bass freak has an image in his head inmediately. I wrote an email to him years ago, asking about his opinions on Spirits, back in the Musicyo days, and he was kind enough to write back. I love the fact that he is such an important name in the business and yet he keeps himself humble and approachable. Long live the Steinberger!!
I just read in todays Oregonian(Sun May 24) titled: "A Really Funky Bass"
Ad is about a Portland Luthier named David King, who made/makes a bass guitar . Anyway...the description of the bass is an apparent exact description of Ned Steinberger's bass. The one photo of shows the headless neck design. The article makes it sound as if David King is the one who came up with the headless; behind bridge tuners; etc. design. NO mention or credit is given to Ned Steinberger. WHAT!!??
Ed , I own # 2039, shes got a million miles on her and she still honks.!!!!!!

Yeah you should put this video back up with the banter. We need to hear the sounds of a boomerang installed, banter or not!

"Ned Steinberger drilling a hole in my guitar"
"THAT BASTARD!"
:-P

I am not sure what kind of epoxy it was, but it was a 24 hour cure.
Believe it or not, there was no squeeze out that wasn't sequestered by the masking tape!
daverowe 2 years ago
Using the good blue 3-M Long Mask tape, and wearing Carhartt work jeans.
That's my man!
What kind of epoxy did he use?
Why didn't he follow up with a careful final wipe-up of the squeeze-out with ethanol or toluene at the end? Doesn't the guitar have a poly finish?

I'd let ned steinberger drill a hole in my guitar any day, he doesn't even have to install anything, just the hole will do. The mans a living legend.

I'd let him drill a hole on my skull and operate on my brain any day he wants
