Maaaaaaaaan at 26. This takes me back to being a young teen. House parties were ruled by the echo of this whole album. Takes me back to being young and alive. That was in 98. 5 years after it's release, I was amazed back in 98 that it was still a good album, let alone in 2011 and it still beating all HipHop about today!! REAL music never dies. Love Souls. This album was the peak of good hiphop!!!
in the early to mid 90's skateboarding was another element of hiphop. I think the song that put Souls in so many skate parts was 411 VOLUME 1 When 93 til infinity hit it was all over!!!!
Anyone know why they are so pupular among skateboarders? I know Mike Carroll used an opio verse in his "Plan B - Questionable" part way back when. but is there any other connection?
Skateboarders have typically been fans of underground hip hop as well as other alternative styles of music. I think it has more to do with the musical culture of skateboarding more than it has to do with SOM catering to skateboarders.
@TairyHesticles ive noticed that kats who skate also emcee, graff,dj, n breakdance basically its like skateboarding is another element of hip hop nowadays...i dont skate myself but most of my graff homies do...
@TairyHesticles no doubt...it's quite consistent...one who is likely to follow alternatives to styles in life will likely gravitate towards other alternatives in in life whether it be sports...food or music..
@SupraSkater69 yea cause back in the day when this album came out it wus all over the skate videos.. like 411 is. #8 they had never no more on a part where there in Madison , n there wus a gang of mobb deep on that shit also digable planets where on thats shit too.. skating is underground...people who skated back then where like outcast in a sense.they smoke write n listen to real hip-hop
@SupraSkater69 carroll, and lee smith etc., were from the bay too, so that kinda is a reason, and its real hip hop too, the best music to skate to period.
Souls of Mischief, Digable Planets and A Tribe Called Quest should really collab with each other.
