How  frequently do you have to remove ashes?

Can the boiler continue to operate during ash removal?

I clean the ashes from the lower combustion chamber every two weeks and clean some of hard packed ashes from the upper loading chamber two times a year . I let the the boiler cool down for about eight hours before cleaning ashes . The boiler holds the heat for a long time .
