I think that if corporations who payoff local governments in order to exploit or remove indigenous people's from their land would be held responsible, there would be far less starvation and lack of clean water. Charity is great, as long as its voluntary. Government taxing one group of people to pay another is immoral and inneficient. Government acts as a big, bloated, beauracratic middle-man and private interests are allowed to skim off the top before the aid reaches the intended recipients. Actually Dr. Paul's opposition to farm subsidies would be an immense help to poorer countries. The farm subsidies lead to excess production which is dumped on world markets at below-market prices, and this devastates third world farmers. The first step is to give money so poor people can get the basic necessities. The second step is to create a secure and fair government. The third step is to create jobs so the people can earn money (instead of just getting it) and have a steady income. The Mexican border is a dangerous situation. We need to deploy the national guard, armed to the teeth, and fire first, or at very least, return fire when fired upon. There military and police escort illegals and there millitary escorts drug runners. We see it all, but our politicians tie there hands. Imagine how fast it would stop if Ah-64 Apache helicopters patrolled the border, and shot hellfires and 30mm chain gun rounds at the mexican infiltration and drug runners. Make a week at most.

I think that if corporations who payoff local governments in order to exploit or remove indigenous people's from their land would be held responsible, there would be far less starvation and lack of clean water. Much of the recent quality of life issues are directly related to multinational corps activities in these undeveloped areas. Let them pay for the damage they have done.

I donate both my time and money to various local charities, as well as international charities. Always have, always will support well-run charities. Government forced charities don't work, we saw that with Katrina and with any investigation online of government run 'subsidies'/charities. Celebrities like being charitable because they don't have to worry about money and it helps soothe the emptiness of being rich and feeling as if they don't deserve it. Before they were rich they didn't care about world hunger.

Charity is great, as long as its voluntary. Government taxing one group of people to pay another is immoral and inneficient. Government acts as a big, bloated, beauracratic middle-man and private interests are allowed to skim off the top before the aid reaches the intended recipients. Charity is better done through private organizations and individuals on a voluntary basis. This is better from a moral (not "robbing Peter to pay Paul") and practical perspective.

Actually Dr. Paul's opposition to farm subsidies would be an immense help to poorer countries. The farm subsidies lead to excess production which is dumped on world markets at below-market prices, and this devastates third world farmers. It's critical to get rid of American agriwelfare and Dr. Paul is pledged to do that.

I myself have no problem donating to people in foreign countries who actually need help financially. But before taking action in the world when it comes to poverty, we should first solve our own problems. The dollar is falling and anyone who invested into the stock market has most likely lost money; except genuises like Warren Buffet. Even George Soros said something like if we don't change soon we're going into a depression. Take care of yourself so you can also take care of others.

How did you read a criticim of America's values into what I said? Australia has stood side by side with America in more conflicts than probably any country & I'm proud of the association. I didn't tell anyone to change their government, or vote a particular way, just to take the vote you've been given seriously & not blow it off. Australia's solution to this issue;
1) Compulsory voting which is enforced unless you have a valid excuse, but with a fine of $20 so it's no big deal if you have a conscientious objection.
2) Elections are held on a Saturday, so it's easy for most people to get to, and if you're working, see point 1 - no employer can refuse you time off.
America - your domestic politics affect the whole world like no other country, but we can't vote in your elections. Use your vote with wisdom.

I don't mean to be rude, but it's not our responsibility to save the world. We need to pull back within ourselves and open up opportunities through peace. But if we send all our money overseas while we gather inflation, whether for war, or aid, I am against it. I want our nation to be prosperous before the world sucks us dry.
This should not be a major campaign issue in my opinion.

death and poverty have been around a long time, so since when did it become America's responsibility to clean up the mess that is life? "we have money"? no we don't, we're beyond excessive debt. "power"? most countries hate us, let alone americans who hate america. its nice to think we can fix it all, but its really no more than blind optimism. we need to stop focusing on fighting losing battles, battles where obviously these things will never be eradicated, like drugs, poverty, and terrorism.

One losing battle we could stop fighting would be the war in Iraq. The message of this film is that desperation is the mother of violent extremism. America has 2% of the world's population and consumes 40% of the world's energy. Your defeatist philosophy guarantees the proliferation of war, poverty and terrorism, and is in fact the problem with America. LIve it up, America, and let your children pay for your sins.

How about, we worry about our own country's poverty before we worry about Africa...
I don't mean to be rude, but it's not our responsibility to save the world. We need to pull back within ourselves and open up opportunities through peace. But if we send all our money overseas while we gather inflation, whether for war, or aid, I am against it. I want our nation to be prosperous before the world sucks us dry.
This should not be a major campaign issue in my opinion.

Overly simplistic.
The peace corp had it right. Don't give fish, teach how to fish.
But it really always comes back to political oppression. We can't even expect to give food without the local gang taking it and using it for thier own ends.
So if we crush the power of the bad guys, we become the bad guys, due to our "outsider/infidel status.

How to save the world in four easy steps:
The first step is to give money so poor people can get the basic necessities. The second step is to create a secure and fair government. The third step is to create jobs so the people can earn money (instead of just getting it) and have a steady income. Fourth step is schools so the children can learn and then use the knowledge to have better jobs when they grow up.

It depends on the situation. If someone is born, they don't have a choice weather to be born or not and they don't have a choice where and to who they are born to. They made no choices a newborns, yet their lives are drastically affected. I know it's not your fault, but it's not their fault. (but if they chose to do bad things in their life then faces consequences, that's their fault)

How come there are Republicans in this video? Republicans don't care about the poor, that's kind of part of their political agenda to not care isn't it. It's a question about continuing Capitalism as we know it or stopping the current way of doing things and realising Capitalism does not work for the poor.

I am all for private help to others. I do not support stealing money from working people by any government and giving it to other people. Really really sad video. We need to sort this problem- it's the worst disaster facing humanity today. But this video offers no solution, or rather it shows the problem as a solution. The problem is that we are controlled by huge governments controlling where all our spare money goes and how our society works. US and UK gov destroy poor countries that are succeeding then said 'aid'. Vote to get the bastards out of it and reduce gov- vote for Ron Paul.

If u steal and give me the money to keep for u then i'm guilty of aiding you in stealing the money.How many billions of dollars,stolen from African countries are stashed in swiss accounts and nobody from the so called western countries,see no crime committed by the swiss.
This is a ploy to recolonize Africa by employing tough economic strategies(thanks to the world bank) on this poor countries,which in actual sense do have alot of money in some swiss a/c.

This is a wonderful movement! But people all over the world must understand that the only way America will help another country is if it has an economic or strategic benefit to the country. Typical example is Iraq. If there was no oil there, do you think America will even look at Iraq? The politicians will never help poor people. You can save so many lives and feed so many children by using the money spent on just one F-16 or tank used for war.

Starvation in Africa and India, and all the other overcrowded countries will never stop. Food and money are swept up by the military and used for war, and by politicians for personal gain. Religions ban birth control and the teaching of safe sex. The human condition is caused by greed and stupidity. Those two causes will never go away.

If it was really one person, one vote this would make sense. But our votes don't count at all. The electoral college elects the president. We couldn't save the victims of Katrina, why are we trying to save anyone else when our own people are starving and living in poverty?

liberalism vs conservativism is a red herring. Both have good and terrible points, but basicly of the same ilk. The debate is should the poor (liberals) be treated humainly (but remain poor) vs should the poor (conservatives)be shot like rabid animals.
Many people are moving to so-called socialist contries because America is finished and in deline. you stack up Europe (despite it's problems) with the US and they make the US look like barbarians.

Our own Mortgage and Banking system is blowing out, if none of our politicians address the magnitude of this crisis, I don't care how many people in Africa die of starvation it won't mean a hill of beans unless we change our own economic system. Politicians should be discussing the foreclosure/subprime mortgage crisis and what that means for the economic system as a whole.
