No, 'slaughter' is not necessarily predetermined. Most definitions emphasise the scale of killing. More than a million people have died as a result of the most recent invasion of Iraq for example, so it can certainly be termed a slaughter.
Now you say those who have been slaugtered died as a result of "choosing to stay in a war zone"! So the victims are responsible for their own deaths and the invaders are freed of all responsibility?
