  • Good tutorial, quick question though because I'm new to 3DS, why is it necessary to UVW map a model? What difference does it make as opposed to just applying a material to a model straight from the material editor? Thanks for any help.

  • Why the hell did you unwrap it when in the end you just opened material editor and put it on your model? Wasnt the unwrapping extra useless step?

  • @GohanSama because your UV's will be overlaying one another, meaning that if you add a texture you will see a lot of repetition of the same exact parts of that texture on the model, making the finished product look less realistic.

  • Dude. What if the model has many parts? Does it still work or do we have to group them. If yes, how to group?

  • @Velixae if you need to have all the parts on the same texture then yes it IS helpful. what you can do is ATTACH all the parts into one model and the uvw map them, THEN DETACH them all to separate objects. that's how i how i do it at least.

  • Is there a way to print out unwrapped image to scale in 3ds max?

  • mine doesn't save the mapping when i convert to editable mesh, what am i missing out?

  • when u pressed edit , it went up all correctly for u , but for me, its all a big mess when i press edit , even if i pressed quick plannar :S

  • excuse me... what is the diference between uvw and regular uv map?

btw does lightwave has uvw mapping options?

  • @MsBickle76 Uvw and UV are the same thing. And i'm pretty sure lightwave does.

  • gay

  • @3DSFuture and why EXACTLY is this gay?

  • @SkizotEnigma Because he is a troll

  • @SkizotEnigma

I doubt he has a reason, as people like that tend to be unreasonable. :p

  • I like this simple tutorial. I was having a rough time learning from other uv tuts because they make it look so damn hard.

  • @edwin11373

  • @3dluistutorials No todo el mundo habla español , y esto no pretende ser un vídeo profesional. se trataba simplemente de mostrar cómo lo hago.
